Dammit, stop linking TVTropes while I'm at work, I have work to do! x_x
They are just cool-looking POIs....for now ;-)
Heh, fair enough
YOU... are in charge of your usage of Self Control & Will Power dude.
Or do what I do, go to the Link, Bookmark it for later Viewing, then View it later.
Maybe so, but I can still blame you.
Well you guys have nerfed one of the most boring parts of the game. Thankfully though you have added the HV drill which in PVP is still yet to be seen if it is doable.
For fluff'sake, people need to stop confusing "nerf" with "bug-fix."
On my first Mining HV, I found a way to stick 4 Homer Launchers onto it. Have ya tried making a PvP Oriented Mining HV?
@Kieve : Nice Photos that you post here
The drills haven't been nerved at all. They have more power and range than back in 3.x and 4.x (i just compared the stats the other day based on the complaints)
I believe you - and cannot believe it. At least the thing with the range - i have a feeling, as if there was a glitch before, that gave them the nominal range in atmosphere, too. Now the range is reduced like the range of any of the weapons, what feels like nerfing. Am i right? If yes - is it intentional? I suppose so, but asking never hurts...
There is no technical range cut. The atmospheric reduction is a global effect, not tied to individual weapons. And it has not changed.
Maybe this is something different then.
Something has changed, it is not nearly as effective as before. The reduced range is especially a problem. Personally, I haven't played egs in several days outside of creative after putting in 1400 hrs since April because of the not fun state of most things mining related. And yes, I'm comparing how it is now versus how it was using both mouse buttons. Call it a bug, call it unintended - whatever. The end result is the same regardless - mining is even less fun now more than ever. I find mining with an HV to be about like what I imagine it would be trying to mine with the personal drone. I much prefer the ability to control and mine with a handheld over the HV.
Maybe the Drill got bugged & mistakenly inherited the 'Atmosphere Range Penalty' when it wasn't supposed to?
Plus I too have noticed that the Hand Drill doesn't Mine Resource Meteors as fast as I remember it doing in the past & didn't know before this wasn't actually intended. The HV Drill Turret seems to do the same.
Lastly it can feel like one gets less Ores per Drill Charge then one used to.
Sadly this is just perception, & I have no clue if any of these is actually the case or another case of my damn RL memory not doing its damn job worth a damn.
The same with me. And i am pretty sure that feeling is not totally misleading, as especially in the beginning of a game i do strictly distribute the given bio-fuelpacks to the most needed ressources. And the return of the usual two initial bio-fuelpacks this time was... unsatifying. I had to spend many time and precious Oxygen on diving when searching for seaweed (started on Omicron).
And second: I am sure, the T2-drill, that now states a range of 4m, and /has/ a range of 4m, did prior to 5.0 have a range of about 10m. I know, because when standing still, i could dig a pit big enough to hide my SV in it with a width of 11.5 m. Today this is plain impossible.
My idea in short: First: If you did not change the drill, did you eventually change something with the ore deposits? Second: There is a bug somewhere, i suppose in the old versions, regarding the calculated range of the drill.
Yep all the damn time.....have to save every 5-10 mins so I do not lose anything....To me unless this is fixed, it will frustrate me enough to ask for my money back
