H i! I've created a litte video about why I made specific design decisions while building the Kshatra Cruiser. I've got more vids on my german channel, but every video from now on will be available in english, too. Have fun!
Nice hints but you need a bit of game experience to use em and gain something. Btw nice looking interiors! You said one should design everything as it had a real function - in terms of designe (look) - yea great meta building advice. But for instance when it comes to combat your single combat steel layer will not last long. So you really have to think about will it work in situation x too - unless your not interested in multiplayer combat. For combat i'd say at least 3 rows of combat steel to trade some blows without being ripped apart in the current version. Another question is: Do i have the time and manpower to use such a big ship and farm the fuel etc. Thats a thing which is always overlooked. Perhaps i'm a bit too pragmatic but i've seen tons of ships since pre-alpha and there is good looking and the usability on a day to day basis eg running around in a hughe, gorgeous, life less station is no fun too
Thanks for your feedback! It's not designed for PvP. Atm, I'm focused on PvE and just nice looking, manouverable designs. PvP will (hopefully) not look anything like we have now in the finished game (also I'm not playing PvP), so there's no point for me to construct a PvP-based vessel. People asked me how and why I constructed the looks of the Kshatra the way it is - and that's why I've made this video. I'll inculde this indication in the next video, so people won't mistake my advice as a "general truth". I think anything except "real" PvP combat should work well with the cruiser. Navigation on board is easy, everything is interconnected, etc. ... yeah ... I hope Eleon gets PvP combat & construction nicely balanced in the end (weapon limitation maybe by energy use/heat, shields, decompression, etc. ...). Right now I'd never build an exposed cockpit and I would abuse the thruster system (embedded thrusters) in PvP. In the current "meta" there's just the 3-layer-steel-blob-design, which I don't think was intended by the devs in the long run. So I decided to just give visual design advice, because the dynamics of the game will change a lot until release. I'm quite pragmatic, too. So expect some nice PvP-ready AND visually pleasing designs from me at the release of the game. Because you're right: if it just looks good and nothing else, it's of no use at all.
I've started a new series on youtube - someone asked for a play through in the comments. So here we go. Hope you like it! Not a let's play - Empyrion: Episode 1: Good Morning, Ningues!
With the variety of plants we are able to grow, I've been trying to do some landscaping. Perhaps you have some ideas about pathway, pond, plant, seating designs?
Since people keep asking: here's a basic sigmal logic tutorial. Feel free to share if you find it helpful and want to help me growing my channel. I'd really appreciate it.
