Thank you good sirs for the kind words. if you relate this piece to a drug lord mansion and use it in the same sentence with GTA vice city, i can say i have been succesfull in my design.
My current project is a house of a wealthy galactic businessman and i'd love to receive some suggestions and tips from you veteran builders out there. Its a shame there isnt options for wall paintings / frescos :)

I have had a bunch of ideas for creating some alien civilian dwellings. The first is something along the lines of an alien apartment complex:

I envisioned both it and the others I am going to be creating to be placed over that specific terrain as it is kind of like their presence is affecting the world itself....

Also, I considered texturing and painting the exterior... but the more I worked with the building, the more I liked it with the bolted plate look. Feel free to go nuts and change things if you want.

Lastly, the middle floor houses the computer equipment, p-gen, and fuel tank. The ground floor is where the common storage is housed.

Next up is an alien dwelling for a single occupant:

For the bachelor or bachelorette in all of us:

I really struggled with the coloring on this dwelling. Spent the better part of 30 mins trying different combos. If you can think of something better, please feel free to say so and I will re-paint it.

Ideally, this is also to be placed over that specific part of the plains terrain. Although, it, along with the other dwellings can go anywhere. :)

Tomorrow I am going to branch into a family dwelling, possibly another single occupant dwelling, and then buildings with different functionalities - like power, storage, processing, etc.

Update to last post. Akuan luxury residence "Cisalpina" finished and soon uploaded into workshop. Placement was tricky but designed for the deepest areas of various lakes with help of pg up and pg dn buttons.
Materials used are concrete and wood.

Interesting desing - can you make it look a little bit more "technical"? (textures/illuminated textures/color/paintjob)

    @Quicc @Fractalite

Looks pretty great! Very unique and different designs with nice detailing effects.

The alien stuff actually almost blends into the landscape on that one planet.

And the villa, I could see a whole set of them, big to small, crammed into a huge area making up Rio on Akua !

Great idea! Though i quess that FPS drop could be quite significant.. If you are ever going to put that plan into action and decide to use my humble builds as part of it, link it my way and ill gladly come and wonder at the result! Would be great to see a district of these mixed in with other more scifi and modern builds.

Wouldn't be too bad a drop, you dont use much glass... and rip out lights and it should perform well. I wasn't going to do this ;) I dont like messing with other's works. I was just suggesting something cool you could do! Hahaha... its a lot of work, but using the modular/merge system now, you can make a bunch of smaller pieces and merge them to make bigger and more elaborate structures.

I am not sure what this means? The underside of the overhang above the containers is a lit texture, I just did not want to flood this thread with redundant photos so I left it(the picture) out. I can make all of the textures/paint job more uniform with the other dwelling... in fact, I think I will go do that. @Frigidman or others; perhaps someone can illuminate me as to what this means? I am more than happy to make said changes, I just need a nudge.

I will go design the other buildings and perhaps something will spark. :)

Here is an alien dwelling for two. This assumes that they(the alien species in question) have social norms at least similar to Terran's - I say this because it is the height of ignorance and arrogance to assume they would be anything like us, but maybe similar? I do not know, hard to say, I might revisit this at some point.

I realized as I was perusing the new lap equipment deco that the smaller tube could kind of look like an alien food dispenser... which is gross, but awesome! So I added it to the first floor as a kitchen area. :D:p:eek: There is also an additional tube on the ground floor for the little baby alien.

I will add a few pictures here, but more on steam:

I am snowed-in right now.... so nothing to do but create cool Empyrion designs! :)

Next up is an alien dwelling communications relay. No explanation needed as the function is in the name.

@Hummel-o-War Is this more what you had in mind as "more technical?" I think I see what you were trying to get at with the single occupant dwelling, and I am continuing to go and refine that design, but I kind of like the residential dwellings on the plainer side - adds to the alien "feel" without making them caricatures. I did not want them "familiar" at all. In fact, I am considering re-doing this antenna relay to make it the same texture as the residential housing. Suggestions anyone?

A note for anyone who wants to use these - I also just changed the interior of the 2 person dwelling. Added concave curvature to the interior - really opened up the place. :)
