The "connect to base" feature allows to add any building block directly into terrain far away from your base WITHOUT having to build a supporting-line of blocks (That you need to remove later on)

    1. Go close to your base and hit&hold N
    2. If you are close enough a line "CONNECT TO BASE" with a tickbox will show up in the Building Tools menu (If you are not close enough, you'll only see a NONE
    3. tick the checkbox
    4. Have fun building without having to attach blocks to your main base!

pick your block and have fun

We have a suspension of disbelief around here to allow for more fun gameplay to prevail over making something that is true to life (because life is boring).

if we can do warp jump, some energy transmitters would be acceptable. Main modul is connect to base, it takes energy from genererator, then can provide remote modul visible on direct distance, there will be some energy losses, it can work :)

There is already a connect to base option that will allow you to connect blocks to your base without them being directly connected. They will also get power.
