Hello Streamers, You Tubers and fans of Empyrion,

After 3 weeks of testing, bugfixing and polishing, we are very excited to announce that, as of now, the Pre-Alpha NDA on "Empyrion - Galactic Survival" has been lifted. This means that you can now record videos, stream the game on your channel or write reviews about the game.

There are still some rough edges in the game but we think it is sufficiently polished to show it to the "outside" world. However, when you record a video, please don't forget to highlight the early state of development of the game.

Thank you so much for respecting the video embargo up to now.

You are an awesome community - and with your comments and suggestions you give us so much inspiration for the development of the game. Please excuse us if we cannot respond to every comment in this forum but be assured we are following it closely.

Hi Closed Alpha participants!

We are excited to present you a new update for the Closed Alpha of Empyrion. The new version Pre-Alpha 1.1.0 is now live and you can download it on Steam.

It has a lot of new goodies for you. The biggest changes in a nutshell:
  • Improved graphics:
    • better and faster planet-space transition
    • better water shader: reflecting skybox (clouds, planets, etc)
    • new clouds and overall improved lighting on planets
    • better star skybox on planet during the night
  • Colored lights
  • Improved smoothness of moving objects in multiplayer
  • Community builds integrated into the game
  • Capital vessels can now mount frontal weapons
  • ....and many more features and improvements as documented in the Changelog below

Colored lights - you can now choose the color you like for your light blocks:

We added a new Alien station to Survival (thanks to Xentor for this awesome build). This station is well defended and you will probably need a Capital Vessel to conquer it. There are many goodies inside - it is worth exploring it (we are really curious who will get into it alive).

SAVE GAMES ARE NOT COMPATIBLE ANYMORE:
As already announced in the last update, old save games will not be compatible anymore in Pre-Alpha 1.1.0 because we optimized the save game structure. We are really sorry for the inconveniences. With the blueprints you were able to save your old builds and spawn them now in Creative mode. The integration of blueprints in Survival mode and full Steam integration will come later.

The new version 1.0.5 is now live on Steam. We added a blueprint library to save and exchange your builds, more creatures and a lot of improvements & bug fixes.

Following community feedback, we replaced the Spinosaurus and Triceratops on Omicron with three nasty creatures.

In addition, based on community feedback, we integrated a lot of improvements and bug fixes in the new version 1.0.5 features as documented in the Changelog below.

IMPORTANT NOTICE:
The Save Games will be broken in the next release. However, we implemented the Blueprint library so that you can save your builds to this library. In addition, you now can exchange your builds easily with your friend: see Blueprints folder under Saves (however, no Steam Workshop integration yet).

The new version 1.0.5 is now live on Steam. Please note that the Save games will be broken in 1.0.6 but we implemented a Blueprint library so that you can save your builds to this library. Hi everyone!

The new update (Pre-Alpha 1.0.4) with a lot of improvements and bug fixes is now live on Steam (please note that 1.0.3 was an internal build only). Check it out an tell us what you think.

We are planning to conduct several surveys very soon in order to obtain specific feedback from you about different game elements.

We also would like to show you some of the awesome builds of our private testers (for those of you who participate in the Closed Alpha, you might have seen some of them already).

Due to popular demand we made a small update to allow people without DX11 also to play Empyrion. The new version 1.0.2 should now also be compatible with DX9.

Changelog Pre-Alpha 1.0.2:
  • Added support of DX9
  • Improved pathing of NPCs
  • Added check if new structure can be created before removing hull blocks
  • Increased hover distance of GV to ground (from 1.7m to 2m)
  • Improved loading time after startup
  • Fixed bug that items disappear when inventory is full and new items are picked up
  • Fixed problem that an invalid local save game was created when connecting to a server.
  • Balanced templates: Less Rotten Food now needed for Growing Plot (1 instead of 3)
  • Nerfed Gatling Gun on SV (less damage and less rate-of-fire)
  • Gatling Gun can now also be placed on GV

We have received a number of emails from people asking for support for the following two issues:

1. After using the Steam key and installation of Empyrion, the game does not start and an error appears with "Missing executable."

This error appears if you try to launch the game on a 32bit system. As mentioned in our announcement (http://empyriononline.com/threads/save-the-date-release-date-of-closed-alpha-june-26-2015.398/), currently Empyrion runs ONLY on 64bit systems (we might add 32bit support soon).

2. After successful installation, the terrain textures are missing (not just from time to time but always).

This problem appears if you don't have DX11. However, in Pre-Alpha 1.0.2 (next update), you will be able to play Empyrion also on systems with DX9.

EDIT: Issue 2 has been solved in Pre-Alpha 1.0.2 (now Empyrion is also DX9 compatible)
