So, I found myself in a starter system with a whopping 2 planets and no asteroid fields. Neither planet shows neobdymium. I have scoured the starter planet and moon for wrecks to salvage thrusters for it, but sadly, showing very little progress. For a basic starter CV that can get me to another system I am going to need only about 800-1000 more ingots and I should be good to go. So I am considering just building weapons/tools and selling them at the trader, and buying his ingots off of him. Here is the rub...how fast do these suckers cycle their inventory? 1 game day? Hourly? Any idea? While it will be a pain, I think I can scrape together enough neo this way. I'm usually a "tough it out" kinda player, but with only 2-3 hours into this playthrough I am strongly considering just grabbing a new start and paying closer attention to the system map. I know I can also hit up some legacy POIs on the planet, but wary of my chances of getting materials in enough quantity.
Its usually 1 game day. I with the trader would sell and buy more stuff, the quantities are soooo low. EVA's are cheap to make and good for selling.
Thanks! Gold is also in a bit of a scarce supply. Truly, I have never started in a system with just >only< two planets.
The default stock refresh time for traders is 1 hour (real life time). I think every single trader in vanilla is set to 1 hour restock. It is saved into the POI prefab, not the trader file. So if you wanted to adjust some of them you have to enter godmode invisible (gm iv) and find the trader in the control panel devices and adjust the restock timer for each individual trader for each POI you want to change. Then after adjusting the timers you either have to refresh traders with commands, or just wait until the original hour restock timer runs out and then it will start using the new timer you set in the POI.
You can usually buy quite a few gold ingots from the trader, then convert them to EVA's. That's what I've been doing in my game. There are two traders in the Orbital Trading Station that will buy them.
Thanks! I ended up selling a bunch of T1 weapons for around 50-60k. The trader only stocks about 50 Neo at a time...so its going to be a while.
Yes, that's a thing I don't like about the traders. Their stock quantities need fine tuning. They are rubbish at the moment.
Agreed. I can understand certain items like small arms and ammunition perhaps being at a smaller amount. But materials should be higher.
