    Hello Galactic Survivalists,

Yesterday evening we had a 2hour Q&A talk with xCaliber about 10.6 and its upcoming changes. We of course talked about the new CPU System..and a little spoiler about Alpha 11 ;).

Players where able to ask questions
and we tried to answer a lot of them.

Enjoy watching the video and if you have any questions or feedback please let us know!

Cya Monday in the 10.6 EXP Patch *fingers crossed*

    Regards,
    Hummel-o-War & Taelyn

I find it extremely difficult to be comprehend why you would set the default limits for CPU capacity at such a low level

99% of all workshop ships will be made broken by this update and you have offered absolutely no option for server owners to disable or even change the limits to more reasonable values.

The 200k CPU limit for CVs is especially concerning given that a typical class 4 sized CV (which is well within the Eleon vanilla limit of class size 6) can reach into the millions of CPU

I request that you seriously reconsider these flawed changes and rectify the issues that will come with this by either increasing the CPU limit to reasonable amount OR permitting server owners to change CPU values themselves and/or opt out of this change.

This forced CPU limit will harm building gameplay and will significantly restrict the creative freedom this game grants to PvP players and players who build for aesthetics.

This forced change will also make hyper-specialisation of ships mandatory, which will screw over solo players and small groups on multiplayer servers. It also creates a dynamic whre a player wishing to have complete capacity to operate will be required to spawn potentially dozens of specialised vessels instead of a few general purpose vessels. This will cause core limits to be more quickly reached and create database bloats for servers.

Trying to find random blueprints could really ruin the game. I see situations where you find the same BP for the level one pistol dozens of times, and never find the large or advanced constructor. Or the BP for a key part for an SV. One thing is sure, it will be horrible when implemented. Since the dev's have never actually played.

Wow just checked out some stuff in creative, nothing but the smallest build will work. You forget CV's or anything that has to move, never going to happen. No reason to have them, CV's, Hv's, SV's will not get off the ground. But this does prove the devs have never played the game even once. Even the simplest SV with just what you need to get off the ground, with one cargo container, is 32,000 CPU, you are allowed 7500. What 5 year old thought this up.

I welcome the change. I'm a solo player and I want this. It's actually boring having a do-all ship. There's no thought put into it. I just build a ship and do anything and everything. It's actually kinda boring right now not having anything forcing me to think about what I'm doing. As it is, I have to FORCE myself to go slow and enjoy the game.

And don't forget, it's in such an early alpha stage. This is to lead into what will come much later. And it will be increased, I'm sure, as more stuff is added and adjusted. If you're not already aware, there are future plans to change how the CV works. IIRC, there will be at least four different CV types with different size limits. CPU will definitely be adjusted once or more between now and then, and probably even after. There are also a lot of other systems that have yet to be added or redone.

2 hours video... too long for me. I watched the beginning and got the essential, but I surely missed some juicy stuff.

Anyways. I understand there will be hard limits, multiple tiers accessible by CPU "extensions" to extend the limit, and players will still be able to use custom configs to adjust CPU for items if they want. No problem here.

SV-HV docking coming back. Very cool.

New HUD and flight controls : extra.

I think this will bring some fresh air to designs, as I rarely see "stats" as a primary focus in buildings. I always felt a bit lonely in this...

I am happy with changes and I play mostly single player I never liked having a jack of all trades ship will be cool having ships built with individual purpose more immersive in my view.

The guy said like a couple dozen times that the values are not final and it's still WIP, let's see how it plays out when it's done before starting the outrage.

I watched it all the way through. As a solo played I am glad for the changes. I like making different ships and hv's for different roles now I will have real limits, instead of my guess's. I love the idea of a fudge factor so that yes I can go over the limit some with a risk of course. All the changed are great in my mind. I hope the tier level for cpu will also be in solo on startup. I wasn't sure if I heard that it would be for solo too.

Great Q&A. Thanks to the Devs and XCal for this.

I would definitely like to see more of these over time. Looking forward to 10.6 but can't wait to see what is next in A11.

I will say I have one major complaint with this game.
I want it all now! The wait is killing me.
I want to experience it all before my Use By Date roles around!

Now I will say this.. I have built some extremely large CVs and got it under 7500 CPUs.. I was playing around with this system for 5 months. The only difference is you have to actually think about what you're doing . As far as size I have some pretty big CVs that are under 7500 CPUs. Now what I would like to see is a Core that allows you to upgrade to 15000 CPUs. Test the system out and once you get used to it you can build some monster CVs but you won't be able to have one ship that does everything. You have to build a ship for combat, a ship built to haul cargo and savage.

It was said in the video that there are plans for some sort of Tiers of CPU T1 -T4. Also it was mentioned that CV's belong in SPACE and not on the Planet surface. So far I DONT KNOW how the new CPU frame will work out in space.
So let us face this new Challenge together, kill Bugs by the millions..ahem hundreds... and wait for the refined System:)

I just watched Spanj's live stream. he brought in the JRandle Wayfarer that is under 7500 cpu under the current settings, 10.5. It is way over the cpu limit under 10.6 as it stands now. The Numbers have changed and it is not what you built to before.

All that was built BEFORE 10.5 is now ...partially...Dead! The CPU-Numbers for the Devices were there since 10.5 but have been mostly ignored.

After the new CPU system is added, CVs need more defense style weapons and the current weapons strength need to be increase.

Oh ok... I can't wait to test it out but the way the devs described it, it should not be such a big deal. Just less RCS, thrusters and unnecessary stuff. I only run one or two constructors at the most.

Jrandall's Wayfarer, a size class 1 ship with 4 RCS and all 'expensive' equipment removed, was not able to lift off a 1G planet on Spanj's livestream.

The idea that a CV should not be allowed on planet is where the devs lose me. I think CVs should be allowed on planet specially with the size of some of the planets in game. CVs for some are a mobile base so I hope the devs change their mind on that one because with games like Dual Universe not having rules like this makes Empyrion not as attractive for those of us who like a little freedom.

Wow .. now that changes things. I hope its more to this story than this because being able to have creative freedom with CVs is one my favorite aspects of this game. If that changes where we can no longer build the type of ships we want then that's a deal breaking for me although I know a lot of Multiplayer gamers will be happy with that change.
