    Hi Galactic Survivalists,

Just to make it clear, the announcement about the purchasable in-game pets yesterday was an April Fools' Day prank. However, the announcement about implementing dynamic weather into the game was not a joke :)

In the upcoming Experimental release you will be able to experience dynamic weather in Empyrion. Here are already some teaser screenshots.

    Radiated fog on Skillon:

Mist in the tropical forest on Akua:

We are planning to release "Alpha Experimental 6.0 - Part II" the upcoming week.

Stay tuned and have a great day

    Cheers,

Nice! It's there any chance some realistic planets could be added in as well as yaml template, like Mars in our solar system or other (perhaps) life-less planets? Would be cool to see a dust storm on Mars. ;3

Edit: How is it that there is life on Omicron? I was always wondering that. The atmosphere isn't breathable. I'd understand that perhaps plants could like in a rich CO2 atmosphere, but how do the reptiles and spiders survive? Are they sulfur based? If so, they'd be slow in speed since they aren't using oxidative phosphorylation for ATP gain.

Yes, but I mean "style" planets or perhaps class? Who knows actually what galaxy we are in? XD We could still be in the Milky Way? :3

Any ideas or hints on how does the dynamic weather affects gameplay is there is any short of effect going on?

Maybe the atmosphere isn't breathable because it contains mustard gas.

Cool. I'm assuming these are more than purely cosmetic additions? I.e. weather can have an effect on Heat/Cold/Rads depending on location? I.e. hot & sunny day near the equator of Akua has the potential to push the player outside of the basic suits comfort zone. A blizzard on Ningues, at night, when exploring near the poles does the same, but in the opposite direction, how about radiation storms on Omicron?

A little off-topic, but I personally loved the various Survival Mods in Skyrim - I recall being caught in a blizzard and having to camp out in a burnt out building as moving from this meagre shelter meant death. A bit extreme for Empyrion maybe, but cool none the less :)

Note: the player of course has the tech to make almost any environmental condition trivial to endure, but it's all about forward planning. Certain locations on an otherwise temperate Akua might not be practically explorable without some additional weather (heat/cold/rads) protection for example. A POI high up in the mountains of Akua - a bit too cold - an abandoned mine, a little to radioactive now promethium apparently emits Rads. Of course volcanic planets are gong to be quite hellish! Additional interesting locations could exploit this new mechanic.

    Scoob.

You know if you guys decided to add solar panels with this update it would be perfect. Solar panels would not be very helpful on a rainy or cloudy day. So something like that would already be balanced enough to add into the game now.

Hey Hummel, I know you guys are working on planets and such and now that weather is implemented Its making me wonder if were going to see multiple biomes on a single planet at all. how big are you guys planning to make final versions of the planets?

    This please :D

Would also be a nice non-radioactive source of power. We'd need capacitors or batteries along with this though.

This is a good question. I always wondered what the final versions of the planets would look like or how big they would be. All I've heard was larger planets would be a thing in this game.
