Do we have to do anything i.e. update old blueprints created before the patch?

Pay attention to the image. Here it is specified some mistakes!

Drawing (A) point (1) - The sunlight is normal.
Drawing (A) point (2) - There are no shadows! (Mistake)
Drawing (A) point (3) - White spot! (Mistake)
    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Drawing (B) point (1) - The sunlight is normal.
    Drawing (B) point (2) - Shadows are.
Color of the planet and smoothing excellent. :)

Drawing A: The sun is mostly behind you to the upper left... so therefore:
A.1: The atmosphere haze is correct around most of the left side.
A.2: The shadow is very slim (and you can see it in that image) to the bottom right as expected due to the suns position.
A.3: Is a specular highlight because the sun is reflecting off the ocean, and from the direction it appears.

I see nothing wrong in that image, other than the overall general graphic quality of the surface is to clean for a distant view of land.

It's a tad exaggerated in my opinion, can't be that high.
To illuminate the planet on such a vast surface, the sun, no matter in what poistion it is, must be super close to the planet, the shadow has to be larger if the sun is at a "normal" distance.
I Agree but again I think it's way exaggerated, it would benefit form being more diffuse and less glossy, in fact the whole planet would benefit from less glossiness, not to mention the vibrant colors but that's an inherent problem in EGS.

Depends entirely on the atmosphere of the specific planet. You will see it high on Neptune, but almost missing on mars. Its exaggerated here for 'gamer effect' though, so its entirely an artists subjective placement.

Sorry, but this is false. If the sun is behind you, you won't see any shadow effect at all. His image is of a sun very close to behind. Seeing a shadow at all is as expected.

You do realize the sun is larger than the planet so at any distance, it will cast more light on a planets surface than a shadow. A basic example of this effect:

You are right, I left the position of the observer out of the equation, if you are dead centre between the planet and the sun you'll only see the illuminated face of the planet, but if you are on a different angle you will see more or less shadow, all the way to an eclipse if the planet is between you and the sun, anyway scrap that.

Edit: Neptune is a gaz\ice planet, here we are talking about a rocky planet.

;) I thought we were talking planets in general, since the guys original image was pretty darn close to showing neptune lol. If thats a rocky planet, then I couldn't see it for the clouds :D

OVERALL, the game has the elements all doing the right thing, but its all sooooo exagerated and 'too bright' imho. That sun is blaring, and the surface is too sharp, and the game's planets just look too ... fake in general.

I offered corrections of problems for improvement of quality of a game. If to correct them, a game will be even better, and it is even more players.:)
The rating of a game still depends on quality of study of a game. If developers want to achieve the best, then they need to pay attention to such mistakes!

Look at a type of a cover of the planet on images. If to make such atmosphere, a game will become even better! ;) Space.jpg

We weren't doubting the visuals in space on EGS needs work. They greatly do... because planets and moons (and anything else) just doesnt 'feel right'. They feel like basic 3d objects floating right near your head... not the large presence a celestial body should look and feel (like they achieve in other games).

I just want to know when i will be able to punch a Raptor in the Face before it eats me?
I feel that i should at least be able to seek my revenge even if its my last dying breath....

    haha
But for real..whats the future look like for MoCapstions and like all that good Character stuff?

    Edit -
Oh and it would be really cool if you would make the Open cockpit 1 block lower
so we can squeeze them into small areas.

Somewhere else that would be called "programmer art" ;)

First step should be to create a better color palette for the generated terrain texture.
And to adjust the planet-materials diffuse and specular values.

here a little concept. playing around with the (low res) preview-terrain:

YEah man i totally agree..i think they need to Darken stuff up alot also.....It does seem like plastic sometimes
I think if we had the option to make Different Space backdrops it would help for Immersion over all.

    Devs -
My biggest thing is (i dont know why they haven't done it yet)

You can Add a Hyper link to the game that will pull images from another source..
    (This also includes Video)
    Example is "Img" or "Photobucket"

This will also open up more Texture ideas from other players..they can add the textures with out loading up the game with garbage
Some of you (most) dont know what im talking about but i do know they do.Thats all that matters to me

Is anybody else getting drone attacks? I started a new world after the patch and I haven't had a single drone even remotely near my base.
