NOT sure, if this has been mentioned anywhere, and i know, the subject, needs some video prrofing, and deeper explenations as to why it happens :S ....

Core of the issue is, that my CV hangar door, starts chewing on my SV, unless i run into the hangar SO fast, i risk knocking a wall or 2 over o_O

Recently, i build me a new wSV, intended for prologned operations in a MP/PVE enviroment.
Means, a TON of storrage, and room for a minor army.

    Ships in question:
    Topaz (SV)
    Emerald (CV)

The Topaz, IS quite long, with the pilot in front...

Anyone else experiencing this, on a long SV model ?

It's been reported quite a few times but so far no resolution.

The best I've been able to do to avoid such situations is to use a larger hangar door than necessary.

This won't help every time, but I've found that it happens a lot less in such a situation.

Then again I don't use many big SVs, so maybe it won't make too big a difference after all!

Get it lined up perfectly and wait for the door to fully open, then punch in full throttle.

Only way I can get that to fit without the hanger trying to eat it.

I had to laugh when I read that, only because I understand [perfectly.

I did just report this as well, but will add my voice to every thread that talks about it until this squeaky wheel gets some grease!

It is pretty annoying and only needs a larger detect radius / longer re-close timer adjustment to the script.

The camera gets thrown around so violently with the ship it can be hard to tell WHAT direction to go, to get out of the frilling way!

Well, it is REALLY easy to replicate, but, vids need been made i think, as that visualizes the issue.... Some different sizes of doors / SV's need be tested too....
I COULD record the experience, from the cockpit, but, would send most hardened men vomitting really :S ... need an exterior look, at the docking "Gone Wild" ...

My SV, got spat out eventually, guess, its too hard to chew on, in some random direction... Luckily, ABOVE ground.... can easely imagine, how one is spat out, under ground, and THEN, theres a real big issue :S

Larger detection range... CERTAINLY o_O..... BUT... for ship only.... not the player.... can vividly imagine people going wonkers over doors opening everywhere :S

Yep. I usually just power on in and have ended up on the port side after dragging the paint off, proverbially.

I can say for a fact it happens on 5x3 and 9x5 doors, I have not tried it on larger doors than that but I imagine that WOULD send me for the little bag in the seat back in front of me!

As a workaround, couldn't you power down the CV with the door open so the hanger door doesn't automatically close?

I think they could, but my hunch is that this defeats the point of having automatic hangar doors. :p

I've never seen this myself, but then again, most of my SV are small for practical purposes (that and the fact that I usually play solo even in MP because I have no friends...(that play this game lol)).

Kirk: Stand by to execute emergency landing plan... "B."
Chekov: What's emergency landing plan "B?"
    Scotty: I don't have a clue.
    Kirk: "B" as in Barricade.
    Scotty: He can't be serious.

I had no trouble at first, then I had a few times that the hanger doors tried to eat even smaller sv's... but then the last few weeks, nothin. Everything seemed to be fixed.

Could just be me too. I do have a way with doors. :D:p:cool:

I've noticed any hesitations or slight forward or backward movements seem to cause the door to chew the ship. I find the best thing is to line up perfectly, move the nose to the door until it opens all the way, then keep a steady pace forward until you are all the way in.

I thought that I had read at one point that the doors were in an upcoming patch.

The patches come from the experimental branch :D Currently they are at release candidate #6 or #7 now, shouldn't be too long, we just need to stop finding breaking bugs. :p
