    Hi,

I've been playing Empyrion obsessively for the last couple of days. Today I restarted my computer and it won't load. It's giving "An internal error occurred! Please insert a short description int he prepared email - thank you!"

It won't let me exit, none of the buttons work to continue, mail # cont or quit & mail.

I was playing for several hours today and the only thing I did was reboot my computer.

Build is showing as 9.5.0 2294

    Things I've done to resolve:

    1. Clicked on All DLLs and exes in the file structure and added them as 'trusted' to Norton
    2. Added a rule for every exe file to allow all traffic in Norton
    3. Used the 'Check File Integrity' via Steam app
    4. Uninstalled, rebooted, reinstalled, checked file integrity before opening
    5. Tried opening after turning off Norton
    6. I am able to load other Steam games.
    7. Punched neighbour's kid when they said 'Hi!'
You can see by the attached screenshot that it's showing me as 'in-game when its locked to the loading screen.

I attached a screenshot of my task manager, plenty of membory and CPU available to use.

It's odd because yesterday I was playing it, rebooted, and now it's frozen to the loading screen.

I've added the two log files that were created when the issue started

No, same controllers. Razer Orbweaver, Black Widow keyboard, and Naga Trinity mouse.

These were all in use before the lock up. They use Razer Synapse software and allow mapping of the Orbweaver keys to keyboard keys. Same for the Trinity Naga mouse.

I noticed that in the logs.

I have tried closing out of the Razer software/Synapse to see if that worked. It didn't

Yes more than enough I was thinking the disk may be full or very close.

Have you tried completely disabling Norton rebooting your PC & with norton still off after reboot try again ?
I think this av could be blocking this file but not 100% on that as I cannot reproduce this.

It might be nothing but check your Firewall. It might be that the Windows Firewall is preventing your game from starting. I had twice to confirm that this action is allowed. The Firewall Warning did only appear once for me. The second time I had to switch back and forth between loading screen and Desktop to have the Firewall Warning appear.

I uninstalled Norton completely, rebooted, and still the same issue.

I attached the newest log file. I had to remove the following from the log file as it keeps repeating a few thousand times. The application is getting hung up on this.

As a side note; I work for a Health IT company that develops software so I'm somewhat savvy to troubleshooting.

    "Using Unity input: False

NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object
    at RewiredAdapter.Awake () [0x00000] in <filename unknown>:0

    (Filename: Line: -1)

Rewired is not initialized! Are you missing a Rewired Input Manager in your scene?

    (Filename: C:/buildslave/unity/build/artifacts/generated/common/runtime/DebugBindings.gen.cpp Line: 51)

Rewired is not initialized. Do you have a Rewired Input Manager in the scene and enabled?
    ------- Rewired System Info -------
    Unity version: 2017.1.2f1
    Rewired version: 1.1.15.0.U2017
    Platform: Windows
    Using Unity input: False

NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object
    at Eleon.InputContextManager.ShowBitmap () [0x00000] in <filename unknown>:0
    at Eleon.InputContextManager.Awake () [0x00000] in <filename unknown>:0 "

When I rebooted my computer yesterday, I didn't change any controllers I was using. I have been using the same setup for months.

I do have the Unity game engine installed on my computer. I've helped a couple of friends with some side projects for fun.

I'll see what more can be done for this asap with the logs. I'll reply here.

Does it make any difference uninstalling this & trying again ?

It may also be worth trying this:

Since the folder structure change have you had any prompt from windows fire wall ?
what is your windows UAC (User Account Control) set to ?

I didn't receive any prompt from Norton about the file structure change. I did go through all the folders and add all dlls and exes to Norton as 'trusted'.

I have uninstalled Norton and unloaded my Razer software drivers for my keyboard, orbweaver, and mouse. Still same error.

I reinstalled with the same settings above, no Norton or Razer software and orbweaver unplugged.

I did notice that Steam recognizes the Orbweaver as a Steam controller. (See screen shot) I kept it unplugged while doing the last test of reinstalling.

Still stuck on the loading screen

Yes, it was with the new Structure that the Firewall popped up. The UAC sits on the lowest possible setting.

I don't use the build in Windows Firewall. I use Norton. I've used it for decades so I'm familiar with it. I completely uninstalled it and I kept Windows Firewall off.

Then it just repeats this last block until I kill the window.

I resolved the issue. I had to remove an app completely. I followed the same process with Empyrion as we do for one of the apps I work with professionally that is Java based.

    1. Copied my Saves folder section to my desktop to preserve games.

    2. I uninstalled it from the Steam app.

    3. Deleted the entire directory for Empyrion and any settings files I could find.

    4. Rebooted the computer.

    5. Reinstalled from Steam App.

I realized when I uninstalled earlier it was not completely uninstalling the program in it's entirety. All directories and folder, even though Steam gives you a warning it will. My guess it that Norton was allowing the program but had blocked the file structure restructure silently without notice or a pending Windows mega update that had crashed blocked the process.

I did go through the Norton logs/history and didn't find any entry related to Empyrion or Steam being blocked or tagged as suspicious activity.

My computer also finished a mega windows update today that had previous kept failing. It took about and hour for that to complete. The pending install could have also had something to do with the issue.

When I deleted the Empyrion file directories they contained over 4.72 MB with over 174 k items. Does that seem right?

Thank you for helping me walk through this and look through all options. I'm glad to have my addiction back!

Your team is doing an awesome job in developing the game and being responsive to the players to keep improving it!!!

Well...the error is back. I'll have to figure it out. I'll comb through the Norton logs but I do have rules that allow the game, launcher and any exe int hat file system to be allowed.

I completely disconnected my Razer gear and used a basic mouse, that didn't resolve the issue either

In going through Norton last night, I noticed there are some communication protocols auto-blocked by it. I've made sure the all the exe files in the file structure are allowed and trusted but there are some general communication protocols blocked by default.

Hey I'm actually getting a similar error - I only have windows defender and even though I turned everything off I'm still getting the internal error at startup, here are my log files. It was working fine yesterday (when I bought the game), but when I tried to launch it today it came up with the "An Internal Error..." at startup.

@AnemoiThuellai Have you had a windows update in the past few days/in between the game loading fine & now ?
@Chokinski yes the logs show the same error. Same question to you also ^

    Thanks.
