Build: 3203 Mode: Creative Mode: Single Player Reproducibility: Always Severity: Minor Type: Lighting Summary: Certain equipment, usually ones with moveable parts, appear to be lit or shadowed incorrectly Description: Turrets, hangar doors, and other miscellaneous equipment appear to have inconsistent lighting applied across them. For example, with the hangar door, the frame will appear to be lit with one intensity and the door itself with a far brighter intensity. It appears to be affected by angle to the sun, and can act differently depending on which side of the ship the equipment is on and the playfield orientation (in some orbits the left vs right side of the ship exhibits lighting incorrectly). Steps to Reproduce: Start a creative scenario and head to space. Spawn the attached CV, fuel it, and orient it to point at the sun. You can clearly see the different lighting effects on each side of the ship. The test frame demonstrates a few types of equipment that seem to be affected. There may be more. Update: Just wanted to add that this appears to be affected by transitioning between a planet and orbit. When I reloaded into my creative game in space the lighting was consistent on each side of the ship. Flying down to the planet and back re-introduced a lighting difference, though on opposite sides of the ship than the screenshots indicated. Here the ship is oriented toward the sun while sitting in the cockpit. Note that the specular reflection of the ramp on the left and right are inconsistent. Left side of ship. Some odd specular reflections, but mostly correct: Right side of ship. Many incorrectly lit surfaces. At off angles, some specular reflections are picked up even though shadowed:
