Ok i know how to make my own scenerio and all that but how do i edit the names of the planets without having to go in and change all the warp in points manually ? Is there a way to change the names by just clicking and changing the name cause in the Solar System Generator i do not see a way to edit names of the planets you have made after generating the sector. thanks
You will have to do it manually. I don't know of a tool that would do it for you (one is badly needed). Easiest way is probably to use a text editor with a replace all function like Notepad++ and do a replace all in your sector file to rename the planets/orbits/moons you need and then change the folder names in your playfields folder to match, but I haven't actually done this before. Somebody else might know an easier way.
They are all under content/configuration. There's a file there with all the names. Make a backup before fiddling with it though.
Sorry, I had forgotten about this! If you're still interested in where the names for the random generator are kept, it's in: Empyrion - Galactic Survival/Content/RandomPresets/TempNameGenFiles The file you're looking for is: Resources.planetNames.db Make sure you create a backup copy of this before editing. Simply open in a text editor like notepad and add or remove names as you see fit. I don't know what would happen if you add a duplicate name but best not to try. Then when the game creates a new randomly generated solar system, it will use the names inside this file. Edit at your own risk.
Little information, .db isn’t like a text file, is a SQL database so you need to open with SQL. So I think your method doesn’t work.
You might find it easier to use SSG to make your scenario, by creating your own template yaml, then using that to generate a solar system, then editing it in more detail via jmcburn's editor and/or notepad++. If you try and use regular notepad to edit the yamls you're going to have a bad time.
