    Hi everyone,

    We have released a patch (Pre-Alpha 5.1.0 Build 279) that improves the stability of dedicated servers.

    Changelog:
    - Improved dedicated server communication
    - Detecting and rejecting duplicate processes with same playfield
    - Increased playfield loading timeout
    - Improved handling of unexpectedly ended processes
    - Fixed some possible exceptions in code

    In the meantime, we are working hard on the next update (Pre-Alpha 5.2.0) that will be released soon.

    - Detecting and rejecting duplicate processes with same playfield


    I'm running two instances of empyrion on the same server and two different ports, does this impact my setup in any way?

    Duplicate procresses of ONE instance. Running two different dedicated server instances on the same machine won't have an impact on this (other than possible performance ^^)

    I'll get this one applied right away. Question... when there's an exceptionally large ship in Akua Orbit it tanks FPS for the entire zone... regardless of whether you can see that ship from where you're at or not... for instance from within my own ship, looking the other direction.

    When that ship moved to Omicron Orbit it did the same thing. FPS was fine before it entered the zone but after FPS was 5-10... even from within my base, looking another direction.

    Surely you're only rendering objects for me that I can see, right? Not rendering everything in the zone? Should I turn down my view distance or something? This happens even for people with high-end rigs and video cards... my whole faction and everyone in the game... verified.

    This didn't fix the disappearing ship deal which looks like a game breaker for sure?

    After the patch all of my dedicated servers have asteroids floating over / through Akua. In some cases they were placed on top of existing structures. I loaded a save from prior to the patch and the same thing occurred to the save.

    Would be happy to send over the logs and/or save if they would help

    As a side note, this is a fantastic playfield idea. You should make this a permanent option, maybe call it Skyland or Floating Rock or "My planet only partial exploded because you have bad aim with your death ray"

    Please, do the mute key engines.It will be very useful to save energy while you drifting space.

    That looks great... really need to consider this as a biome :D

    first: did you change anything in the akua playfield.yaml?

    second: I'll copy in the the steps on how to send us your files (please include the server game world, as we need it to check this out!)

    PS: just visited your server, but did not find this happening. Did you reset the server?

    is there a way to reset the POI's now? just removed the folders in the past and they regenerated. did the same thing today... No POI's. all backed up so no big deal but now it seems I have no way to reset the POI's.

    I've been doing it the same way you transfer vehicles. make a second copy of your server world under creative and drag and drop the shared from your creative into the survival folder. you might have to explore some of other planets though to get their Poi's to show up.

    Retrieving lost ships[edit | edit source]
    (Workaround should also work for SP)

    Retrieving lost ships can be achieved with a small workaround: Every ship ("entity") is saved in a distinct folder in your (singleplayer or) server world savegame D:\Steam\SteamApps\common\Empyrion - Galactic Survival\Saves\Games\5.1.0.276\Shared (<- same folder for singleplayer games!)

    5.1.0.276 is the name of my server world savegame, set in the dedicated.yaml instead of 'New Game': - { prop: GameName, value: New Game }

    In the SHARED folder, you can find entries like SV_New_74922. Each of these entries has - as all windows folders have - a creation date.

    If you can identify the folder of the ship that got LOST (f.ex. by asking the user when he created it), you/your player only needs to lay down a new starter block (SV for a SV and so on) and YOU, as the admin, just need to copy the four *.area files from the lost ships folder to the newly layed down starter block ship folder (overwrite!).

    Steps to follow:

    1. Player places a new starter block (SV for SV, CV for CV ..)
    2. Save and Exit your server (or your game if SP)
    3. Copy the .area files from the lost-ships folder over to the newly created ship folder and hit yes if asked to overwrite
    4. Start your server (game)
    Please do NOT do this while server/game is still running, as this may cause severe issues with the playfield! Of course you need FTP access to the installation folder at your hoster if you are not the host.

    Oh I like this anomaly, I would make the "floater" like the floating terrain in Avatar. This would be a beautiful add to Empyrion to set it part.
