    Hi! ive a problem

    after ‎2017/‎Dec.‎12/‎Thu.‎07, ‏‎07:32:37
i took a long break from Empyrion.
We had a wonderful game world hosted, my boyfriend and I.
We were happy. i made some CV's and SV's i really liked.
As did my boyfriend. But then updates happened and holidays and..

well its 2019 and i am desperate to extract a SV i was unable to uploadto the workshop at the time due to unicode characters in its name.

While i am aware that some of the block id's may have changed or are now non-existent..
i would like to extract SOME FORM of thier data so i can perhapse recreate these ships we spent so much time on building! :(

Can anyone please help outline some options i could do? i still have the "game save" in a zip file, ive extracted it to the new empyrion but right after structures finish loading the game crashes and asks to send a error email. then hangs till i give up on loading. this makes sence because of the huge game overhaul of course.

but is there somthing some where some way, that will allow me to access some ship data and get info on how to build??

The one i want most, had the shape of a cube, and i have a few pics left of the outside. but it was really rather 2001 space odyssey inside. and i had a ton of things arranged a particular way thats nearly impossible to remember.

I sure hope some of you can help me figure out how to extract old ship data from the save-games of 2017 empyrion...

You find your 'old' ships in old save, then in new game just spawn new starter blocks - exit from this new game - then from old save just copy old vessels over this new ones in newly saved game folder. Re-enter this new game and instead of starter blocks you will have your old designs even with all the stuff you had in them!

off course, backup everything twice before you start operation :D

(your playfield builds are in your saved folder under 'shared' subfolder, named with BA_Player, CV_Player, SV_Player... +numbers)

um ok it sounds like i can likely do this. can you re-explain it precicely?
    such as:
do i change the folder names??? or alter any files?

    Root folder: ᅟ%steamapps\common%\Empyrion - Galactic Survival\Saves\Games\
    ----------Old save--------------------
    Savegame Old: ᅟ\2017_Savegame\

    2017_Savegame\Shared\SV_Player_173113\
ᅟ inside it is a file called 0.area

    2017_Savegame\Shared\
    ᅟ SV_Player_173113.txt

    ----------New save--------------------
    SaveGame New: ᅟ\2019_Savegame\

just copy paste the things above??
or do i change numbers or anything?
    ill go experiment with this.

    Very likely:

    - Start a save game, use the itemmenu to cheat in a starter block:
(open in-game console, should be the ~ symbol for US keyboards)
    Command is: itemmenu
Open itemmenu with 'h' key. Select a SV starter, spawn into world.
    Leave save game.

Now, the files you already have named here - These could be the important ones.
In your 'new' savegame, you will have under \shared a 'SV_Player_(number) there. That should be the dummy.
Copy your old SV_Player_173113 in there, rename your old SV with the dummy's name.
(Probably leave the .txt untouched, since that might also contain the old SV's position and ID - Which now have changed.)

no no the first post did it for me but i super appreciate the extra infos! this is good material for anyone else coming from a long hiatus!
    Thank you all!

i made a new save game in creative, space, no buildings. named 2019_Savegame
took forever to load anyway! :D
"placed" a small vessal starter block in space.
exited game. (zipped up a backup of 2019_Savegame! )

    taking a peek i saw a
SV_Player_1003\ folder (with a 0.area file inside it)
    SV_Player_1003.txt and text file

    SO!
    then i went into 2017_Savegame

    i copy-pasted

    Savegame Old: ᅟ\2017_Savegame\

    2017_Savegame\Shared\SV_Player_173113\ ← this folder
ᅟ inside it is a file called 0.area ←with this file inside

    2017_Savegame\Shared\
    ᅟ SV_Player_173113.txt ← and this text file

    into

    Savegame New: ᅟ\2019_Savegame\

    2019_Savegame\Shared\SV_Player_173113\
ᅟ inside it is a file called 0.area

    2019_Savegame\Shared\
    ᅟ SV_Player_173113.txt

    then i renamed them to

    2019_Savegame\Shared\SV_Player_1003\
ᅟ inside it is a file called 0.area

    2019_Savegame\Shared\
    ᅟ SV_Player_1003.txt
