I LOVE KSP. I've easily put more hours into it than any other game. You are absolutely correct though: it was a terrible decision to try to port it to console.

In the vein, I think that nearly any creative/construction game will turn out awkward and clunky on a console, up to and including Empyrion. Managing inventory is already annoying, but just imagine how bad it would be on a console.

Yeah, I would imagine a lot of construction activities on consoles would be rather frustrating without a relative-movement input device. VR input devices might be able to mitigate that, though, and possibly lead to construction interfaces superior to a mouse and keyboard. But it's going to be a while before enough people have VR.

To clarify, I'm not completely against console ports of successful PC games, but developers contemplating that path need to be aware that it's not at all a simple process, and that attempting to do it before the game is feature complete is likely to end terribly. Empyrion is certainly not anywhere close to being ready for a console port.

Well that is not true because games like space engineers and gta 5/online are both on pc and console and are going very well. Gta 5/online 7 years old and is on xbox 360 xbox one and xbox series x and ps 3/4/5 so consoles is not a death wish for pc games it is so that those games on pc can be played on more then just pc
