I am sure, you are not in the minority. I would love to have more curved blocks. But i try to be modest - the curved ones need even more different shapes to fit together than the angular ones. Before those are not done, i dont dare to hope for more...
It's more of a wish, driven in part I'm sure by the fact that my design skills are subpar. Still, every now and then the things just look to me as though they were made out of plywood.
What I hope is the new damage blocks means a new damage model for ships whenever our ships take damage but I agree I think they just have soo much stuff to add in the game that they're doing a little here and little there.
I will say this, empyrion has way more block types than a lot of other games i've played. More blocks and more textures will help a lot though
I finally had some ideas for the engine room. It needs a little more work but it's not too shabby. And then it occurred to me in my frenzy of building that I've neglected to set aside space to place gravity generators. Oops. I should be ok though.
A few days back, because somebody recently added a post, I saw a thread that had been started by Hummel a good while back that called for ideas for different block shapes wished for by players/designers. I noticed that many of the new blocks added a few updates back seemed to have been culled right from that thread. (some of you guys were amazing the way you used CAD-like images to show exactly what you wished for). I wish that thread was kept more current (didn't even know it existed until that recent post) because a lot of good seems to have come out of it.
Agree. We're spoiled with the sheer amount of block shapes we have. Yes, there are still few that I wouldn't mind having - but honestly I can't see that as a very high priority. And we did get destroyed blocks and new truss blocks recently - so thats cool. If I could choose - right now - I would much rather have new textures & colours than block shapes.
Ok, time to lock my Chief Architect in his suit for a couple of weeks. 115/120? thats...... insane. I'm not even sure my GPU would run something like that, I get 10fps in Sleipnir lol.
only on full gfx settings AND with all the lights on! I get 30~35fps in and around Sleipnir, most of the time.
We got our CVs ready for our expedition to Ningues I have my new Expedition Base Model D4 ready to spawn when we get there. My husband and I are flying in Ilmatar (which has been updated for 6.0 but not all decorated). @rainyday is flying Little Red Rocket with his necessary vessels docked inside. We've got our SVs and the Thorn HV for devastating any POIs defenses when we go out conquering Ningues I really enjoyed watching the historic maiden voyage of Little Red Rocket and I documented the launch and landing from the ground. Picture spam incoming While the space portion of the maiden voyage was underway, I watched the birds that gathered right after the launch. I bet they were curious about it, as more joined us as spectators. The birds flew all around the rocket as @rainyday began the landing procedure. Today we finish packing up necessary cargo, and we're off to enjoy our first expedition
Today I made my first ever build, that was constructed around an existing bug players often get. http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=948765504
Thank you @Starwing6 for the screenshots! More coming once this rocket project hits the Workshop... Little Red Rocket has been suprisingly fun project. Just a few problems. This isn't one - it was just bit... surprising. It would appear that plants can only put on grow plots oriented the 'right' way. Well, in this case - right way is sideways - so I now have wall garden Some things you just can't prepare for...
Maybe your are right with that we have more possibilities in EGS than in other games. But i strongly have to disagree with your rating about priority. One picture as an example: Thats a very basic geometric form, nothing fancy, really. The blocks in red are too big, they need to have a height of zero at the corner pointing to us. The correct block is missing. As well missing are the blocks to fill the gaps with the green walls. Those three blocks are demanded since - felt - ages. I cant see for my life whats so complicated to provide them. And i cannot see, whats so urgent with destroyed blocks - to fully utilize them, they have to provide them in those shapes as well, so why not doing the undamaged variant first??
@vicomt Prolly end up north of 150 once all the deco goes in. Maybe less. We'll see. That's why I ripped out all those pipes and I'm avoiding certain block shapes at this point. I have an older gfx card so I've set the gfx settings to low for the most part and I'm getting about 30fps when looking towards the middle of it. It's not even max dimensions allowed. I figured if I kept it within the size restrictions for length/height it would be ok but uh, yeah, it's going to test what the game is capable of a bit. It's certainly testing my gfx card! Currently ripping out all the curved blocks on the casino bridges and redoing them with angled blocks. Edit: Dropped a couple size classes just from that one small change. Probably have to do another pass on lights and devices and see what I can get rid of.
Oh ye Gods! The optimization passes... it's painfull trying to decide which bits of detail to cull, one of the reasons I avoid most of the curved block types, except pipes ofc, lovely pipes.
I like the curved blocks but on a build this size compromises have to be made. This is the biggest thing I've ever built. I don't usually build on this scale so I've never really had to do optimization passes like this before.
Have you got space fog in the interior yet? I wish we could do something about that :/ I'm really looking forward to seeing this.
