Is it just me or are Patrol Vessels rife with these invisible walls that just absorb weapons fire? Its making them impossible to fully disable or destroy.
Haven't noticed that. I blew the crap out of the PV_Easy on Omicron just the other night. What planet are you on? Is it Ningues? I was watching a vid of a guy on Ningues, and he seemed to have the same problem as you. In fact, the PV didn't even fire on him, which put him off pretty bad, and I don't blame him. Kind of ruins the challenge. On Omicron, I have the problem that I can fly right through the PV (after it's been defanged and I go in for the kill) It's as if my SV is in godmode. It's funny, I can fly right inside it, look around, find out were the core is, then back out and blow it to smithereens. Seems much of the AI fliers are bugged as yet ie, drones falling through the ground and/or not firing the player. They'll get it ironed out soon enough.
Whats even more funny, if you actually GO INTO godmode... and you try to fly yourself into the PV, it 'bounces' off of you As for the OP: "Combat Steel" ... it soaks a ton of damage, and some of those more dangerous PV are coated in combat steel.
Well it's not that. There are invisible blocks covering both the thrusters and inside a few of the Patrol Vessels that just absorb rounds. It might be a server issue on my side and a failure to communicate exactly where the vessel is, but we can destroy some parts, such as exposed thrusters, but anything internal has eff-tons of layers of invisible and indestructible blocks everywhere. The planet was Aitis, so it was the Hard version of the medium PV. Also a similar thing occured with the Ningues PV. Once we cored them both, we were unable to interact with any of the blocks. Some sort of entity was blocking us from interacting with several locations. It's like your weapons are firing in another direction and the projectiles hit something else.
Sounds like a bug. It was a tough PV, but I brought the Ningues one down quite quickly once I had the appropriate tech and enough resources to build what I needed. Only issue I had was that it de-spawmed after a few minutes, so I never got to fully loot it. Scoob.
3 CV's on MP and I have never been able to salvage it or even blow things up and the invisible walls prevent me from exploring them. I been getting this sadly the entire time myself.
same bug here : invisible blocks on Orbit CV and PV down into planet ... we can't disasemble it the bug is frustating ...
The best is: if you're in your SV... THEN it's like godmode, you can fly through the ship!! But as soon as you go out - even if you're "in" the ship already.... boom... you will get ejected (inclusive your ship thankfully) (yes, this bug is still in actual live version!)
it was impossible for me to finish off a CV's sloped thrusters,i shot literally hundreds of rockets and thousands of minigun rounds and couldn't even hurt them. I tried flying into the PV to blow up its core or somesuch but something blew up my generator and i crashed.
Same bug on our server one wonders what the developer do They fix minor bug and huge bug like CV bug does not pose any problem
I saw the invisible walls and "godmode" pass through wall bug on the TVI space freighter and a PV. I shot huge holes in the side of the ship but could not get into most of the interior with the invisible walls. It looks like some of the blocks, deco, etc are still being used for wall detection even after they are destroyed. It does not seem to be consistent with which one are gone and which are still there. As for the "godmode" bug it seems to also be a wall detection issue. If your CV is moving anyone and anything not in a cockpit, passenger chair, or docked will fall though the walls. When I experienced the "godmode" bug the PV was still moving with small jerks and moves. I did submit a bug report for a PV that I had this happen with. PS - I killed the PV by flying into it and then shot the core out. Took a lot of ammo as most of it passed through the core and ship. Maybe this is an easter egg "feature"
All the empty 'invisible mash' blocks inside & outside of PV are, by Miltitool, called 'CONTAINER' and they have 50 points... In my "official public Alpha 6" game (Masperon & PV_S_hard) PV was full of them, you could not fly trough ship in Godmode and you could bounce PV around by touching them. When I took it down with ton of C4, it fell on ground still with active 'invisible walls' and you couold not enter or dismantle anything with your multitool - and on top of that it did not despawn - it is still there in my saved game laying on his back on ground! For testing I started brand new quick game yesterday on Masperon in current last official version - in Godmode it looked like I could not fly though moving PV, then I shot it down with guided handheld rockets and all of them hit ships engines normally (no walls), PV dropped on the ground and I could enter & loot it for few minutes - and then PV despawn! So it looks like it is (in a way) fixed for new games, but I will continue to play my old save until I meet another PV on new playfield to see whats with that PVs are having another major problem, but that is for a separate topic
So are these walls a result of some sort of data corruption that servers or playfields might have experienced during 6.0 onwards? Can anyone confirm if creating a new fresh game removes this issue beyond a few of us in here? This is kind of a big problem for hallmark content of 6.0. I'd like to have more information before I start putting out bug posts about it.
Still have this issue in 2020, took the shield down and destroyed most turrets, exit my sv and walk inside the ship and can only get so far before i cant get any further, nothing else in the way in front of me
