For actually processing the Ores, a Furnace is where it's at. However, wouldn't it be nice if it automatically processed anything you threw in it?

Also, I'd REALLY like a CV version of the Furnace... In my current game, that I just started, I've chosen to go for a mobile CV base, rather than my usual build. Quite fun as it's different to my more recent games, but I know I'm going to miss that Furnace when I start getting lots of Ores in...

    Btw: hard-core players never Shift+Ctrl+LMB ;)

Uhha. This whole day i did not advance in my Survival section, but was busy building on my "base-ship". Its coming along, but is growing bigger and bigger. For now its only bones without any meat on them (apart from the provisorily illumination and gravity) and has already got class 2 status... i am curious what this will lead to. For sure this is the biggest thing i ever built in Empyrion so far. And it looks vaguely how it was intended :)

    Why I didn't just look while I was playing... but I think it goes Shift+LMB=10 -- ctrl+LMB=100 and ctrl+shift+LMB=1000?

I also spawned in my newly and painstakingly built CV which I'm 95% happy with. But after 5 minutes of playing, KNOWING that other 5% was a backwards and off-centre vessel I couldn't do it anymore.

So into creative I went and I built a big cube. Which will be a Bauhaus inspired box.

I also piddled around alot trying to build out different shapes seeing how large they would have to be to look "normal. Mostly just discovered all over again that mixing the 45s with anything is a recipe for losing hair.

    Nothing exciting...carry on...

Went and looked at your workshop and decided to take your explorer CV along with the dark night and nightshade with the miner to try out Piddlefoots scenario.
    Wish me luck...

I'm back after a long hiatus. I was slammed IRL and had many things to take care of before I could return.

I have started working on a request for a new HPOD from steam user JohnDoe44.
He asked for a two level parking configuration with the wings able to support the grow plots.
I'm not sure of the size he wanted, but the thing is turning out to be pretty big.

I will post a screenie when I feel it is photogenic, for now, I am experimenting with the hull design.

I ask that we all take a moment of silence for the dining table we lost. It was a truly fine table, and it will be missed.

... Now I have to upload all the best screenshots from our awesome adventure last night and it'll take me the better part of the week to catch up with adding them to my gallery. I'll return to spam this thread with more pictures after coffee :)

So, I tried Creative mode last night. My reason being that I'd started to gather substantial materials so could consider another large CV build. At the time I was running around in the most basic, open top CV you can imagine. Totally bare-bones and working as a mobile base. I didn't even initially have enough blocks to build it, so used lots of walkway blocks for floors.

Anyway, I pop into creative and give myself lots of materials and start laying out the basic plan for an uber CV - I like large ships. However, the act of spawning in materials for free and simply flying over the perfectly safe landscape as I built, lead to near instant boredom for me. I quite literally lost all interest in building my CV this way. Weird.

Switching back to my Survival game, I then spend several hours both expanding my existing CV, as well as various other usual activities. Much more entertaining :)

I intended to take some screen shots of my WIP CV at the various stages, but I appear to have gotten carried away with the build. It's basically a modular expansion from my original design. It started off with a small cockpit area right at the front, behind that I had a deck area - mostly walkway blocks - with a Constructor and some storage on the Starboard side, with a small SV landing area to port. In the centre was my Small Generator, single RCS T2 (so much overkill lol) a fuel tank and the Core. Behind this, on a slightly raised platform, I had nine growing plots, a couple of fridges and a food processor. The thrusters were just tacked on the sides in two little pods, unprotected by any armour, as I'd run low on Steel Plates and Iron to create more.

This basic build did me well as a mobile base, allowing me to park near resource deposits / Titan Wreck sections as I worked on them. It's a shame in many ways that CV construction doesn't trigger some sort of AI response. I had one drone appear to randomly find me, after I'd been parked in an area for a while, but there were no more after that. Luckily it went for my docked SV, rather than the CV, whose core was fully exposed on and display. I recall encountering more seemingly random-wandering drones previously, so not sure where they've all gone.

By the end of my play session last night, thanks to materials gathered, I'd expanded the growing plots to twenty-seven, used proper blocks for the floor and roof of the main deck, as well as flashed everything over to Combat Steel. In addition to this, I'd added a new "Engineering" module on the back, holding a T2 Large Generator, a load of large Fuel tanks and O2 Tanks. After these were in place I removed the originals, as well as the Core, giving a little more room to move on the main deck.

I was still landing my SV on the roof of the main deck in effect, so I set up some stairs in a glass-covered stairwell to access it. Looked nice, plus keeps the CV air-tight. Current on Akua, so not an issue, but planning for the future. I expanded further, above the Agricultural area behind the main deck, to add an "Ore Processing" area, basically two Constructors and a load of storage. I set up some windows overlooking the small SV landing area, though it looked nice.

The final thing I did last night, which too a while, was to replace the original thrusters that couldn't even move the ship any more. I created two large nacelles either side of the ship, basically a long 4x4 strip, and placed the second largest Thrusters in there. Ship is now fully mobile again.

I've not added any defences at this stage, I'm on Akua and it's dead quiet. What I am doing next it tidying up the design of a nacelles a bit. They are mostly just square, but I began styling them a bit last night. You know, wouldn't it be nice to have a tool that could change a block? I.e. I can look at a block with said tool equipped, Right-Click, choose a shape as we do now, then left-click to change the block shape without replacing it. If this adhered to mirroring rules then it'd be perfect. As it was I spent a chunk of time deleting blocks from one side, then the other, before using mirroring to update the blocks on both sides with the revised shape. Time consuming.

If I get time to play later, I plan to continue my styling efforts to give those nacelles a more pleasing shape. Likely this will apply to other areas of the ship too, as it's quite boxy...as per most of my designs it seems. I will try to remember to get some screen shots this time!

Last night we enjoyed multiple adventures!

Just as we got started, @rainyday spotted the PV moving toward our base camp area. We have turrets installed, but all our vessels would be at risk if it got too close. He and I intercepted it and shot the hell out of it. It despawns quickly, but thankfully we ripped it open like a piñata and almost all the loot fell to the ground for easy collecting. :)

When Timo logged on, we discussed a mining trip to Masperon's Moon to gather more zascosium. @rainyday asked if we've ever visited the Alien Outpost, and since we haven't, it was a perfect opportunity to swing by there on our way. We took Kivutar along to provide extra security for Ilmarinen, along with our combat SVs.

We arrived at the Alien Outpost and scouted the asteroid field. There were several asteroids with valuable resources!

    There is also this.

We enjoyed a very exciting and intense combat in the heart of the asteroid field! I was taking screenshots, but the windows of Kivutar's bridge got shot up pretty badly. We had to stop briefly so Timo could repair the glass--it was impossible to see in first person view. But of course, it was much worse for the other guys ;)

After exploring and looting the space station, we located a pentaxid asteroid and enjoyed the mining part of our mission. It's really incredible to mine aboard Ilmarinen! I always enjoy space mining, but this CV completely owns an asteroid in a few minutes.

We mined some zascosium as well, but it was getting too late to continue our trip to Masperon's Moon. The last time we logged off in space wasn't entirely safe, so we didn't want to risk it again (even though an update is said to have fixed that issue). So we headed back to Omicron to log out.

Timo and I experienced our second Zeyhines-related warp malfunction of the evening--but this one was truly special! There was strangeness when we returned to Omicron too, because the SVs we had on Kivutar decided they'd prefer to be docked to Ilmarinen instead. o_O We had to make extra trips to Omicron's orbit to retrieve them before going to sleep. LOL

Also this afternoon, I worked on a little POI for the scenario I'm creating. I'm sure it'll take ages to finish the scenario, but now I've completed the first POI the player will be sent to for information (the home of an alien smuggler). I'm going to add it to the Oscutune playfield, and hopefully it'll spawn properly and we can test it when we return there.

I really should take a dip into Multi-player - other than my own server - at some point. Not sure how well I'd play with others though, or how my dire 1.1mpbs upload speed will cope...
