Could be fun to Duel a angry Triceratops with my Tyrax Hover War Tank's "Metal Mouth of Doom"... aka 2 Harvesters. Also, Tyrax Hover War Tank vs Enraged Rabid Titanosaur or other such huge Dino could be fun too. I've test drove Fuel Setups on my Creations before testing their safety, & i'd personally guesstimate their AoE Damage Radius of their Big Booms at 2 - 3 blocks for SVs/HVs, & 1 - 2 Blocks for CVs/Bases. Also if ya ever place Fuel Tanks to be accessed from its side, like lining opposite Walls of a Corridor with Fuel Tanks, having Shutters in front of them & avoiding leaving them open when not Refueling can also be a help to guard against Fuel Tanks asploding & risking taking out its pal across from it, if the Walls they're in are close together. For a mid to big size Vessel, depends on if it'll have Duty for Landing on Planets to pick up or drop off HVs... if no, 50 oughta be plenty... if yes, all ya can get. (& also don't shirk on Large T2 Generators for powering enough Thrust to lift back out of the Planet. More ya put Power into here the faster ya can get back off Planet & stop having to pay the PiperAtmosphere Fuel Tax.) Idea: Maybe ya need more O2 Tanks to hold enough O2 to Oxygenate everywhere & still have enough Excess? If I remember right, there has to be enough O2 to Oxygenate EVERYWHERE at once to sustain it & if ya run short on O2 for even a SINGLE ROOM, the O2 System will refuse to Oxygenate ANYTHING anymore... so the more Rooms ya need to Oxygenate, the more important it becomes to really risk overshooting how many O2 Tanks ya have if need be. Whether or not the Devs will figure out how to Buff the System to lose Oxygenation only 1 room at a time during O2 Shortage instead of lose O2 EVERYWHERE at once has yet to be seen. Devs are intending to finish the Real Planets someday & get them Implemented, but ETA on this is unknown & not likely gonna be fast. It's a REAL big thing to get done. Akua, Omicron, Ningues, Masperon, Skillon, Aitis, Aestus are what come to mind. If I forgot any, it's their own dang fault for being so non-memorable. That's a mighty interesting Shape & Design! Those Gun Emplacements though... unsure if they're safe from accidental having Shots hit the Sides of the Ship if they are firing forward while the Ship strafes left or right... Have ya tested this out in Creative? Huh... as Shotgun Pellets travel farther they should be having a hard time landing all their damage in one spot till eventually they just plain can't... if the Zirax Shotguns are cheating & never doing this, this may be Bug Report worthy.
Welp, I finally found a new (to me) way to die. I restarted piddlefoot's exploration of sol scenario with an easier starting planet and more basic settings (easy enemies/low respawn) and was initially doing better. I managed to get an HV built and started exploring while gathering reaources to start building my factory fleet. One rule I set for myself was "Don't die" for the first 10 days. Well, day 5 found me cresting a ridge while getting a notification I'd discovered the Rados missile base. There was no backtracking and it found me too, with every turret. Needless to say I died quickly with the remains of said HV falling limply to the bottom of the ridge. I will try again, but for now I'm licking my wounds. And by that I mean eating ketchup chips and licking my red stained fingers. What's been your most unfortunate and unexpected death?
Not an unexpected death, but I landed my escape pod in the "dish" of the Epsilon Comm Center once. I died fairly quickly.
Haha, fun. My most unfortunate but not all that unexpected death was when I attempted a HALO jump onto a Epsilon Fortress from somewhere around 600 - 700 meters up. I dunno, maybe 500m? Either way, it went about as expected. It's funny, I have saved myself from dying with last minute jet-packing from huge heights before, but something about criss-crossing pulse laser globules missing me as I fell distracted from the effort. I would like to try it again someday, the trick is with my re-design of the Epsilon bases, you can no longer conveniently shoot into the tops of those structures with hand-held weapons. To be clear, this is a good thing, but since that SV floating up in the air is on a timer before it gently drops into the range of the pulse laser turrets and gets obliterated, the over-all effort becomes a timed assault. But that just makes things more interesting.
I've been giving some thought to updating a few things on my workshop but haven't actually done it yet. Probably start with the Eagle 5 Winnebago. Someone else did a really nice job updating it and it's given me some ideas. Probably rebuild it from the ground up so I can fix the orientation. I'm also thinking about removing a few things from my workshop because frankly they suck. Been puttering around with the space station a bit but my creative mojo is at low ebb right now so I do little bit here, a little bit there. Mostly working on a couple hangars and redoing some stuff in the central tower. Thinking about replacing the secondary lounge with....something. Not sure what yet. Made a couple changes to the engine rooms. Nothing major. Just added some constructors and redid some small bits. I'm tempted to see if I can recruit some help to work on the station. I may have bitten off a bit too much with this one.
You should post all those buildings from 2 months ago that were essentially empty shells. That was inspiring.
I did post them on the City Buildings thread in the B&BP forum! I'm planning to use them in the modular base system I started but in the meantime they're available for anyone to play with.
It was a while ago, I posted a screenie in this thread. http://empyriononline.com/threads/what-did-you-do-in-empyrion-today.2826/page-183#post-103242
@Tyrax Lightning I had already doubled O2 capacity and that was all good. The problem spot was finally located--a missing window in one corridor. It was so hard to see because the 'show airtight' overlay gave no indication of trouble and the corridor was 22 degrees throughout, unless you floated to the middle of the corridor. I have to describe this better. The corridors are like tubes and they were 3x3 cubes in size. It was the center of the tube, running the entire length of the tube, that was the same temperature as space. So it took ages to figure out what was going on. By then, however, @Friendly Timo and I were discussing major renovations. I really think it's too small and he agreed, so he began taking apart the station's ring and I returned to Omicron to take care of things there. Timo and @rainyday discussed the finer details of fixing the station's structure, while I collected a few hundred fire moss from one glitched mound of it. No more scouring the hillsides for it! Oddly enough, while the fire moss was truly endless, the phoenix ferns and spiky Lemons didn't exist at all (until going to space and returning of course.) I felt sorry that Timo had to spend so much time on the station instead of the new CV... or perhaps I feel sorry for the space station because it's just somewhere I'll pass the time until I get my chance to decorate the new CV The space station is a cool project, but the new CV is more inspiring. Plus I have to rethink the suites in the station because of that damned replacement dining table I'm sorry I keep mentioning it, but--no matter how much of a good challenge it would be to create a room for making that new table look like it belongs--I'm growing to hate that table. The whole idea of a fancy suite with an ugly picnic table is an oxymoron. Since there can be no luxury suite, I'll repurpose the entire room and force all the imaginary future guests to eat in the common cafeteria where they wont feel special at all. There goes our marketing strategy for this space motel. LOL
So you went to collect flowers while the menfolk did engineering? Are you trying to perpetuate stereotypes here? Could you maybe resolve the problem with the half and quarter height blocks with a wooden finish? I had made a futuristic "floating" table with one of those, but I guess using the thin corner blocks you could make decent legs. You could even put a nice vase on top of it.
I doubt I'm the only one who uses the walk way blocks like this but I think it is soo cool that you can use them as shelves for your cargo boxes.
Building a CV in survival and I didn't really think it was that big until I happen to look outside my window while I was in my base. lol Making sure everything fits inside the hanger before I attempt to finish building this CV.
Thank you @Tyrax Lightning for you compliments! Yeah that is a very good point and I sure intent to test out every aspect of this vessel. I do appriciate thoughts about how to make a vessel more functional as I am sick and tired of reading about how all my designs suck all the time Thanks you also @banksman45 for the appriciation. I am going to arm her up with everything I get but also make it a nice CV for our team to live and adventure with. So kind of a warship but I wont hide the thrusters and I wont make 50m thick hulls because all of that goes against my nature, so I guess it would be better be called a PvE cruiser?
Sounds really awesome stuff Fractalite! I remember back in the days there was some bug that crashed my game right after I went out of orbit at Akua and once I reloaded, I found myself without SV falling from....orbit I was amazed you can actually make through the fall with a well timed use of jetpack, although I got broken legs from that, I survived. It is fun stuff! I can imagine it is super crazy to jump while you are being shot at!
I agree. Bases aren't a problem for Fuel Tanks. Have a few T2s outside for looks and have the rest along with your main Generator buried underground . . . Separate from your Core. Man, don't know how many bases I have had a look at that the Fuel, Core and Genny are in the same room and close together. CVs . . . Wow, Looked at 30 in the last week and most had their tanks against the outside walls (I'm guilty too) and all in the same area. I try to have tanks scattered along with at least 1 spare Genny. Problem for me is that I tend to build small ships for one or two people so there isn't usually room for multiple fuel areas and multiple generators. But even on the class 8+ ships I have looked at they had their "eggs all in one basket" as it were. @Friendly Timo Great looking ship, I'll have to keep my eyes open for it to have a lookie-do. @Starwing6 Ah, my Blue Goddess, I love reading your stories, keep posting them. @Fluffy Damn Man, That pic of the smiling John Rhys Davies scares the hell outta me every time. Oh, @rucky How do you protect against Lag Shots? Haven't found anything definitive online.
