The sprouts did not grow, did they not die either? looks like a creative game and I got a feeling thats what the problem is, could you test it in a local survival game with some admin commands to spawn it and fuel it?

Gonna download it now and see for myself.

Performance and power consumption is comparable to the last submission. I could not roast myself wandering around in the cabin, even when jumping on the bed. I am curious what the "R" on the floor is marking.

The only hazardous place I can find inside the ship is that you can walk right next to the gravity generator, which does give off heat and radiation.

For the farm, you have it sitting directly on top of a thruster. That may be effecting it.

The ship does feel unfinished with components in the middle of the cabin, remember, you have 65 tonnes to go before you hit the weight limit.
Truss blocks weigh 120 kg, Walkway and railing blocks weigh 15 to 20 kg (but I do not recommend using them on the exterior of the ship).
You can save a bit of weight by replacing steel blocks with truss blocks where you do not need an airtight seal (like corners).
Thin steel blocks also help, since they weigh 500 kg.

Here is an example of what I am talking about, the one steel block is covering an hole into the interior.
Since the rest are squared off, they do not need to be airtight. So I skipped the 1 tonne steel block for a 120 kg truss block.

    20171208101131_1.jpg

You can do it, I know it hurts building small, but I have complete faith in you.

Do not forget the gravity generator, it gives off heat and radiation as well.
I hate to say it, but I did not know that the gravity generator did that until I was checking out some of the ships in this challenge. I have been busting my brain trying to figure out how I can move mine 1 square further away from the hangar.
Since the windows occupy a full square in game space, a dome has less internal room than you would think it does.

I managed to shave enough weight off to get this baby under a kiloton so.....

The Argos Explorer. There's room to upgrade the generators to T1 and add a couple more fuel tanks as well as add some more thrusters to the front pod. Theoretically there's enough room underneath to carry a smallish HV.

Edit: Updated the colors and textures a bit. It's tan now. Threw in some other shots of it in different colors.
Edit 2: Hrm....I may have forgotten the gravity generator. Merde. I'm always forgetting that.
    Edit 3: Blueprint updated

That's weird. Perhaps the update to the workshop didn't work. Shouldn't have rushed it over lunch time. The power consumption doesn't rise past 82% and I rearranged the interior. The weight is around 990 tons on the submission I should have made. I'll double check where the update went.

It looks like I accidentally deleted the second advanced constructor that sits in beside the gravity generator. I won't be able to update until after work.

There's supposed to be a second advanced constructor in that 2x2 space. The 'R' marks where I expect a repair station would be placed if I were allowed to spend the rare ores!

More likely, it was me not realizing plants don't grow in Creative.

Once the constructor is returned, the weight is 990 tons. All interior steel blocks are exposed to external environment on the other side. My favourite space filler is cargo containers since everyone needs more storage than they think.

Part of the charm of a beginner ship is the space left for the owner to fill as he can. There are several such areas that could support offline protection, passenger seating, extra cargo, or other devices not originally included.

I prefer everything near the exit that affects an away trip (O2, armor locker) so I have a reminder before I head out and anything I may need in a hurry on return (medic). The rest of the floor is effectively an open concept work area with attached farm. The living area to the right is deliberately minimal since I have no idea how much 'rp' any user would want to invest in with the shower and bathroom having medical uses.

The size is a bit odd for me. I'll either go smaller and build a multi-role SV or substantially larger for a base CV. My actual "starter" CV weighs in at about 5 kTons and has a 72 space farm, repair bay and repair station and was constructed almost entirely from scrap recovered on Akua.

I could not get the generators past 79%, and I did not roast or irradiate myself walking around the ship.
    Atmospheric performance is good.

    Not part of the challenge...
No buried thrusters or spotlights. The texture work is great, I'm guessing this is a passenger transport?

From a roleplaying standpoint I question the location of the shower.
Sure, the game will allow that, but when I envision someone trying to crawl in...

Maybe lay the medic and O2 stations on their sides?

You have 4 RCS units, that's overkill for a ship below one Kt. I would recommend one, maybe two.

It's obvious that you intend to add thrusters to the forward pods as a future upgrade, but you can shave more weight by replacing the diagonal steel blocks with diagonal truss blocks, (or removing them completely and moving the spotlights).

I'm good with it. I like having room to expand a little if necessary. Yeah I could get away with 2 RCS and replace parts of the front thruster pod with truss blocks but then it wouldn't match the rear one and it'd make me a little twitchy looking at it. I could also shave a little more weight off by removing the fake 'tanks' on top but I like the way they look. As for the shower....well, hopefully one day they add moving parts so it can rise up out of the floor when it's needed. :p

I was recommending removing the forward pods because the RCS units are 40 tonnes each, and you said you were having issues getting the weight down. I estimated that removing the two forward pods would give you roughly 95.92 tonnes to play around with elsewhere on the ship.
... After my initial post I also thought you could replace the forward pods with turrets.

But those are just some random tweaks that popped into my mind while I was exploring.
It's your ship, and I think it's an excellent design.

Nobody has given me suggestions for mine, and I am open to them. I learn a lot from these challenges.

    Here is the updated lineup.
I will add the save file after @sillyrobot has had a chance to upload their updated blueprint.

Awww. My entry, designed for one generator, looks kinda puny next to the later ones. I've been putting my efforts into a couple of other EGS-related projects and my design Muse seems to have left to visit relatives so it may have to stand. I like to think that it served a useful purpose in that everyone who looked at it thought, "I can do better than that!" :D

We ca always do better it's what keeps me up for hours changing little things around a design I could have posted hours ago. And just remember. Everything you make looks uglier to you than it does to anybody else that looks at it (At least it seems that way to me).

    Cheers!

It's all good. I didn't think I'd make the weight requirement originally with that ship so I finished the other. After tinkering on the Argos today I realized I could make it work with a few adjustments. :D

@Fluffy I updated the blueprint. I'd forgotten to add a gravity generator which is kind of important.

You did a lot more than add a gravity generator....
I took it for another flight and could not get the generators above 81%.
Walked around the cabin and did not roast anywhere. The rest you already know.
