Hi, I've been stuck on this for several days now, and I think I broke google looking for an answer (jk) so I thought I'd try here. I have rented a dedicated server with Windows 2012 R2 on it and am attempting to run (hopefully) several games including Empyrion. Things I have done: Opened in the firewall ports 30000-30010 UDP and TCP Opened in the firewall ports 27015-27030 UDP and TCP (for steam) Installed Empyrion Dedicated Server using SteamCMD (and also regular steam as a test) Opened firewall for 3 x Exe programs for empyrion server (EmpyrionDedicated, EmpyrionLauncher, EmpyrionPlayfield) run Graphical and non Graphical versions Always the same outcome. Server is not on list and direct IP connection doesn't work. It just times out and says connection failed. Also, I have this in my log file connection_log_30000: Connect() starting connection (eNetQOSLevelMedium, 72.165.61.175:27017, UDP) ConnectFailed('Connection Failed':0) (0.0.0.0:0, UDP) EVERY time, and it just does this over and over, which I'm assuming is the problem. Further to this, I've tried installing Wurm Unlimited DS and that same error appears in it's logfile also. To me this indicates it's a steam problem, but I'm just not sure. Networking really isn't my bag. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.
Ask them tcp AND udp to confirm, and they might say it but it doesnt mean its accurate. I had the same problem about a year ago and eventually moved to a new provider and config worked first time!
Yeah I read your thread and it seems like a very similar problem. Only problem is I've paid for a year, they got the box in specially. It's non-refundable so moving on is not the answer for me. They definitely aren't blocking any ports .. it wouldn't really make any sense for them to do that anyway. Maybe a complete OS reinstall might fix it. So annoying.
OK! Finally got it fixed and I'm excited. I asked the tech guys what they did and got the following: "Just regedit, delete registry firewall, and redownloaded firewall plugin." I'm not 100% sure what this even means but I hope it will help anyone else who suffers the same dilemma. Might I just say that I would recommend Trentahost Dedicated Servers, they have the best prices and the best customer service.
