What did you do in Empyrion today?

    Finaly did a long 'needed' update for my Vertigo Cluster scenario, still containing only the 3 starter planets...

    Its really not much done there, as i was HIGHLY frustrated after spedning 1-2 days fixing all issues, just to have them ALL back after the very next hotfix..
    But there were not many bug messages from users, so i tested it again, and the bugs were gone.. thx @devs :D

    So I decided to actualy continue on it.

    Never expected that it takes almost a full day (including a full playthrough to SV) to test 2 planets, implement and adjust the planet orientations within the space so they're reachable within 15au, if at least via the 'Vertigo Asteroid Passage' which leads over the "Vergio Cluster Passge" to the default game planets (if it wernt a scenario).

    Why i did those passages?
    1. So server owners have an easier to task to implement into their servers
    2. So the single players playing the scenario can move their vessels to the Cluster passage for 100% savety in case they want to update their savegame.

    What else, added regen to all pois on all 3 planets.
    TODO: Probably need to add that regen text manualy for resources
    TODO: Replace the 'crazy' difficulty planet with a flat one, the highest mountains should not be on the starter planet with the highest gravitiy... :p

    By now I belive/hope that it is ready enough for me to start a game there, using it as a testground for all my vehicles!
    With that passages, one of which is just plain empty space, should give enough freedom and safety to do just that... so afterwards, i can just start heading to new added planets with the existing CV/SV/HV :)

    At least that is the idea.
    Also figured.... I really need to play some other scenarios.. like Vodoo, Jenny's and another one i just cant recall atm...
    Further, until I have custom POI's there... oh boy.. that will take a while...

    At least for now, with the recent release of my SEA Hover Base Skarab, I have completed the SEA brand line, all its missing are the POI's, so that is something :D

    Oh yeah about those LCD things... .could you guys who already have some 'screens' prepared make something like a guide or thread?

    I mean, in the end its just text to be copied, no need for a BP to copy text out of it... IF you want to share those 'screens' that is anyway.

    Not that simple, though. Forum text formatting is different from LCD formatting, and font size actually does affect alignment and spacing as well (in some cases). Better to just do a BP of it, that way people know "this size LCD, this size font, this is how it'll look." It's also substantially easier to spawn in a BP and copy/paste right from the screen than it is to continually alt+tab out of the game.

    Idk.. i find alt tab easier than to change ships ingame all the time...

    Also, isnt there a code or pre tag in bb code?
    To preserve such formatting?

    Further, the bp needs to be maintained,
    While everyone can contribute to a thread.

    If you compare it to what I posted a few pages back, you can clearly see how misaligned it is, as well as the size differences in some of the symbols - the forums use a different font from the LCD screens in-game. Also, only a fraction of EGS players use the forums, and only a fraction of that fraction would find the thread. More people are likely to see (and use) a BP.

    So no, I won't be doing that. Sorry.

    Besides, my main focus is just on getting this bloody ship finished. Any thoughts of an LCD 'resource' BP are barely a blip on the radar right now.

    PS: Apologies if the tone of my post comes across a bit cranky - I work the night shift and should've hit the sack a few hours ago. Tiger loses some charisma points when sleepy.

    See that is part of the problem. I have pages of custom made text for my lcds. Multiple ones for the various sizes and CV to SV sizes.

    Copy and paste doesn't translate well to the LCD. So I have another version that is spaced correctly after I mess with the lcd. Then I have to paste the text line by line as it doesn't always get all the correct spacing in.

    So pretty much a disaster.

    I should have made a wall of screen just for that!

    Normally I just spawn in the ship that I know has what I am looking for and update the text from there.

    You can force a LCD update by changing the text color, OR by clicking on the LCD text input UI border zones. When I'm setting up LCDs I use this to find an appropriate text size without having to exit and enter the dialog.

    I've learned that if you squish down a Notepad window, form it into the approximate shape of the LCD, and change the font size, it helps with the layout. Not perfect, but helps

    After I uploaded the Sentinel turret I decided my next project would be the Extra cheap starter CV you often need to make, that lets you get to the materials needed for any serious CVs or Bases. I designed this to accomodate the OreMaw -2- Miner (The as yet un-released version 2) for easy gathering planet-side. This is what I've managed so far:

    There is a slight issue as the top landing pad is radioactive, but for the most part you won't be staying on it for long & the vessel has radiation relief medical equipment installed. The flat rear is meant for a turret which I neglected to add before taking screenies.

    To be blunt: This ship is not safe for serious exploring. One shot in the wrong place and you could have issues. There is No constructor or space for one. It's pretty light on defenses too so I wouldn't recommend leaving it unattended on MP servers for too long. It IS intended to be as cheap as possible to get you to the needed materials, and small enough to be dismantled without too much effort.

    Hey, guys!
    Since i lost all my work sine october 2017 due to a hard drive loss, i decided not to rebuild the old crap i did before, but to start a new series of ships.

    First thing i did was a series of small models to test a few ideas.

    The starting point was a ship that resembled the ship from the game Starflight (which i really loved back then).
    I'm not desperately trying to stay away from a Star Trek design, but i try not to promote that crap* anymore.
    *the latest incarnations and what may come in the next few years.

    The idea is to have a basic design and have a fleet of different ships that look related to each other.
    I've been Playing "Empire:Total war" lately, which gave me the idea of creating Starships more like 1700-1800 sailing ships. The outer appearance doesn't need to differ so much maybe and making huge ships drastically inceases their volume to a point where it just becomes unpractical.

    So i played areound with a few ideas and ended up with the following design.
    The ships in the middle are the basic types.
    Lowest is the corvette, above is the Frigate, then Cruiser and on the top is heavy Cruiser. The ships left are specialized variations for enhanced speed and science task.

    After building the basic Frigate design in a 1:1 scale, i'm now refining the design to make it look more elegant and clean.

    Sorry to hear about the hard drive loss Neal - I've been through that in the past and it's never fun to get that sinking feeling when you realize what happened.

    But as they often say, "Great triumph often relies on great tragedy". It's good to hear you are surging forward with new designs and renewed enthusiasm. :) I like the horizontal rear nacells/thrusters on the lowest image. Gives it a ST-but-not-ST look.
