I saw in another thread that the owner pulled it from complaints but that's second hand info and I don't know if its true. There was another guy in that thread that had a backup of the file, I think it was on steam forums not sure.
I see. Thank you. Seems my exploration on this scenario will remain unfinished since,by pulling it out of workshop, I can not play anymore. Found the mentioned thread on steam. Universal Voodoo3 For anyone missed it and wants more info.
Grabbed it when it was released... Modded the Starter Playfields so much it is hardly recognizable LOL... Upped the Ore on Planets, Added Ore to Starters, Made a ton more Mobs spawn on starters, Added growable plant life to the starters... If I dont have somewhere safe to stay by night, I will be dead by morning LOL... Slowly getting around to adding a lot more life to all of the planets, but only have a few done so far... Haven't even started in on the POI's yet... 8.0 will probably drop before I get near to finishing modifying Voodoo 3... Haven't shared it because I didn't know if Visual Voodoo was cool with it or not... And haven't seen him lately either... Although he did drop by the Farmland server a few weeks back while I was on... If I ever see him again I will ask him if I can share it...
The way I feel about those sort of things is that once things are shared with the community they belong to the community. Especially if someone makes changes to it. People that truly don't want something to be shared would never post it to the COMMUNITY workshop....
Yes but the original creator put work on them, either a little or a lot, it does not matter. They are precious to them mostly because of this. We need to thank them first and appreciate their work with the respect it deserves due to this. If you have created something to share it with others you know what I mean. They are not working for us, they share with us.
The two are not mutually exclusive. I agree with the thrust of your statement. But once again, once something is shared in the community, I firmly believe it belongs to the community. That has no bearing on whether your appreciate or respect their work. If anything, the fact that so many people are requesting it is an indication that the work was respected and appreciated. It's like open source software, once it's in the wild, it takes on a life of it's own and people can make changes to it and do what they want, but they should always credit the original creator.
Also if you read the steam agreement, it pretty much states that exact thing: Workshop Contributions are Subscriptions, and therefore you agree that any Subscriber receiving distribution of your Workshop Contribution will have the same rights to use your Workshop Contribution (and will be subject to the same restrictions) as are set out in this Agreement for any other Subscriptions. and your removal will not affect the rights of any Subscriber who has already obtained access to a copy of the Workshop Contribution.
This is steam's lawyer's mambo jumbo to protect the company first and I do not disagree. Nevertheless the time and creativity of any contributor on the workshop should be appreciated, at least.
I don't think anyone disagrees with that. That's not what we're talking about though. We're talking about if someone made changes to it and want to post the scenario.
I know what you are talking about . What I posted in my previous post on other words is that whoever does changes and reposts should give proper credits to the original author.
^^ THIS! it isn't the first time that someone who made changes to a blueprint and then uploads it again without mentioning the original author had to remove it again from his workshop! And right so!
