Special HV´s for future planning MDV a Modular Defence Vehicle (MDV) is a mobile heavy armored Defensive System against Drones and Air-Entitys. Special MDV-Vehicles are useful against infantry and monster on all plattforms. Today i presentation you, the MDV´s of the ED (Eridium Dynastie) and my own Faction the LC (Lunar Corporation) with the basic AA-Defence Upgrade. A MDV are very useful for PVP-Games in the future and in the Singleplayer Survival. It has no Boxes or other Equipment installed. So this Vehicle Types are only for Base Defence or Stationary Outposts of Planets. Very interesting and innovative build. I would not have thought of doing this with a HV, I did something to address similar needs but on a SV platform. Keep being creative and thinking outside the box, it's a lot of fun.
How about a flying box with a open bottom for mining. Guns on the roof for protection. Nothing can get at you when mining parked on top of the deposit. Use elevators to move down into the mine. Plus lights on the bottom of the box"ship" Think I will make one. Lol
I built a hv unit last night. After using only a sv unit the hv is a piece of junk. Guns don't always work. When they do work they shoot at the farest enemy. Makes lots of alarm sounds though. Tried to drive up a ramp. And it explored. Fixed it, turned on the power. The unit jump up in air and smashed the roof 4 blocks above it. First teret I placed disappeared. Gone. Have no idea were it went. Don't think I will try again.
Here is another entry into the library of strange vehicles. I named it Bait because that was the original intention, but things do tend to evolve. I could see at least a dozen drones from my landing pad and behind them the Drone Base about 1k out. They allowed me to build my base due to it being a takeover. This very odd HV was intended to be taken out and parked as bait for the drones while I stayed a short distance away and shot them from the sky. With only 1 turret it surprised me by taking out the first drone to take the bait. After that it evolved some, adding a bit more armor where the drones seem to like to target the most and adding a total of 7 turrets all around. For now it's working out much better than expected. I take it out in the drone patrolled area and hide behind it until they are close enough to loot when they get shot down. So far I have had up to 4 drones attacking at once, the HV got 2 and I got 2, not bad for something intended as drone bait. Extra Info: Some interesting things have been noticed as well. After a turret kills something (mob or drone) it seems to stay locked on target ignoring other closer targets unless you can maneuver it so the new target is between the turret and the previous target it is still locked onto. Even when not locked on a previous target they seem to have a problem seeing targets that are not in the direction currently being pointed at. Some fancy driving usually fixes this but I take some hits doing it. Overall the HV seems to have had some improvements made in recent updates, I have been going over mid sized hills and ridges with only needing to use the boost on rare bad spots. I finally have a use for a real HV, hunting buddy. lol
This is a basic HV just to get started with. Apart from the weapons and extra hover engines, you can build it with just the starting materials on day 1. *You need a base to make weapons, and I'm not sure if you have enough stuff to make the extra engines. but it will get you around the water and smaller hills just fine without them. Also, the turrets look stupid like this, but they cannot shoot/damage each other.
If only the turrets wouldn't fire on you or blocks belonging to your faction, but alas they don't seem to mind firing a rocket straight down at the cockpit you're sitting in. Also, turrets seem obsessed with plant monsters that aren't attacking it and happily ignore all the drones actively firing at it (or me).
They also seem to have tunnel vision, if the new target is not in the direction it's pointed it never will see it to fire at.
The Skitter ... Yeah, it skids Ok, boring part first: them numbers... Directional thrusters: 2 on either side, and 2 front, 6 total. Normal thrusters: 2 Armament: 1 rocket turret* Constructor: 1 Fridge: 1 Cargo Box: 1 Air Tank: 4 Fuel Tank: 2 Generators: 1 RCS: 1 Hover Engines: 2 (3 total planned, havent pput the last one on yet. Goes in the rear) Lights: 2 to light up servicables, and 2 spotlight cubes. Core Location: Standard, under the cockpit. * Rocket turret: I have tried all the turrets for HV. They all suck, yes LOL ... but, the rocket turret, sucks the least. It is more precise, shoots faster, AND has longer range, than the plasma turret. Minigun turret.... well... uhm.... do i HAVE to say something nice ? ... ok, uhm... it doesent make holes in the ground ? And yes... i DO love HV´s over SV´s for planetary exploitation Some pictures: "Engine" I love how it looks like an engine Note: The massive amount of hitpoints on the constructor, is the frontal mount reason. Food and cargo, are more likely, to survive an explosion, at that particular location. Rear: Small access hole to the oxygen station The "vents" are the new diagonal walkway blocks. Left and right: Acesspoint for fuel, and airtanks. Added some armor, using triangular block. This also adds a little to the "aerodynamic" look Hover Engine placement: Front hoverengine, raised upp 1 block, compared to the original one. Helps a LOT when climbing hills... and, partly, mountains. REAR engine, not mounted yet, WILL help getting down on the other side, so the rear of the HV, doesent drag on the ground. Cockpit view: *WROOM WROOM* Full throttle spike!! Expansion: CAN put guns underneath the light cubes, to make it a hunting vessel aswell Blueprint, attached.
