Just watched it and must say, nicely done! Good audio, nice on-screen key/pointer adds, and a nice balance of good info without spoiling the suprises. <thumbs-up!>
I hit a little snag while testing out my Basestar. Before publishing I decided to remove the higher tier weapons(24 pulse lasers so way over the limit anyways) and I converted it to combat steel. Now it won't fly. It's too heavy! I would have thought with all the large thrusters I used and the way it zipped around when it was plain steel it wouldn't be a problem. Going to have to find places to install more thrusters.
Dear sir Tyrax Lightning... No, what I saw ...... in the fog of radioactivity ...That was a cry that could not be heard. And when the terrible aliens creatures, when I noticed, behind ...... I do not want to get down Vessels on that planet. Oh, under my eyes. It is under my eyes ......! (This note is broken here)
I made some more progress in my single player game. Spoiler: The stone quarry Even though the conversion for stone to silicon is the better conversion rate, it still took a lot of stone for my target HV. If only I could have found more silicon ore in the starting biome or nearby. What a grind!? Once I had my first HV, things started going a little better from there. Though at one point I was afraid that I had totally failed the Robinson Protocol. My HV killed the attacking aliens at the one structure and so it seemed to be stuck at the point I was to fight to defend myself from two aliens. Well, I went exploring and found an alien artifact. While I wonder if that will be tied into the little story later, it so happened that real life demands meant I left the game and had to return later. Upon launching the game, I found myself attacked by two aliens. This time I was in the HV when the kills were made and it gave credit for advancing in the story. Though I had to laugh when it stated something about a strategic withdrawal back to the wreckage. Those poor aliens never had much of a chance against four turrets ablazing. When I got back to the wreck, a message popped up saying that I should create an HV, etc.. Spoiler: Umm... I already have a HV. It occurred to me after the fact that I should have captured a screen shot of the sweet irony. Again, real life required me to leave the game and return later. So when the message was repeated, this time I got a pic. It was a quick and dirty mod of my Steamer Duck that I had saved as a blueprint for testing as I try to get acquainted with alpha 8, looking like a remote control HV. So I went on and found the Titan wreckage according to the story. Wasted a lot of time using my drill to clear one of the pieces like I used to do only to discover that I could not find the core. I did less digging at the midsection, but the back part I could clearly remember where the core used to be. I saw the glass window that would have protected the core but where the core would have been it was completely empty. I was beginning to think I had lost my mind. But with story now suggesting I attack some radar site, I thought I might actually want a base of my own. Spoiler: Testing a new base Although I never played the experimental, I was paying attention to the forums a bit. It was sounding like I might want some alternatives to my traditional stone bases. So I had a few of these worked up already. The question then was which one to try out. My apologies for taking this pic from the drone, but this was a survival game. I wasn't going to go "godmode" just to get you a good pic of the base. There are four turrets atop my base, I was just waiting for the waves of attacking drones. Waiting and waiting and waiting. Are they starting from the other side of the planet? I think at least three waves were announced before I finally heard the four cannons open fire to take down any drones. After the first wave of drones, I knew which direction they should be coming from. So I used my HV as a mobile defense, as it felt a little safer than just hoping the base sentry guns would keep me safe while I cleared a path through the forest to where the drones would most likely be shot down. Yes, I realize that I would get more experience if I shot down the drones myself, but I am interested in the drops, not the experience. For the exp, I have some farming going on. It isn't fast, but at this point my goal is to acquire some goods to get my next vehicle. Not sure if I am going for a SV or a HV with six gatling guns included.... Spoiler: The second wave of drones With the detector sticking up on the back of the HV, it shifts my third person view up. And since my HV is not too terribly big, as it is supposed to be reasonably priced to build early game, well, you end up not seeing the HV the pic was taken from. For a moment I was tempted to try this with my base and see if I could get a better pic. Not quite high enough though for that. My own fault for choosing my "tall" starting base. Well, at least those turrets are making good work of the drones so far.
That's a nicely written narrative. I've taken to mounting the detector laying on its side crossways on the back of my HV. Scanning isn't affected by orientation or location.
But Antenna Detector Noses look so cute... For the Topic: Well... I found some bits & pieces of my missing Inspiration... somehow I don't think it was the original Inspiration I had in mind before, but what bits & pieces I found had to do. I built a SV with non-seriousness, screwing around, & some experimental Theatrics in it. It flies satisfactorily with its Body & Hardware complete... now my Bed calls & its Painting & Texturing, then Device Groupings will have to wait. Also still undecided on a name for the dude... but it's bound to end up as non-serious as the Build itself. P.S. A cute Antenna Detector Nose would be right at home on it...
Finaly adjusted the base to sp/mp use, had used it as PV-Base already though Spoiler https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1416193829
THX1138 ready for a tour around the block From the Stars we came, to the Stars we return crap... forgot the Pentaxith.... Back to the Surface than
Haven’t done anything yet today, but last night I staved off another drone attack, grew some corn and wheat, and leveled up. Tonight I’m hoping to scrape up enough materials to built my first prefab SV and see what it can do. Still very new to this and fumbling my way around but liking it.
Stunning sunrise Got my 2 boats docked at a wooden pier, leading to a cv that rides a platform to a base that is 200m up xD
Oops! It was an accident! I swear! I didn't realize those thrusters had that much power! But hey! any landing you can walk away from is a good one! On topic: Been working on a set of farm buildings. Farmhouse, bunkhouse, greenhouse, barn, etc. House is coming along quite nicely, rustic on the outside, modern on the inside but with that old farmhouse look. Getting a little bored working on it due to lack of a variety of materials to use (textures, colors, models, etc) but I'm close to finishing it so I will. Sometimes I wish I could import all the build tools and materials from both SL and the Sims.
