The SSG (Solar System Generator) and EPG (Empyrion Playfield Generator) are two different tools with different uses. The SSG is used to create a random solar system in a new scenario. You can't directly move planets using it, instead you use a custom solar system config to randomly place the planets according to your specifications when you generate a new scenario. EPG is used to move planets around in an existing scenario. You can use the SSG to create the initial random solar system for a new scenario, and then use EPG to edit the sectors.yaml file of your newly created scenario and move the planets to exactly where you want them.
I noticed my sector yaml was broken, but EPG still somehow loaded it and was able to tell me everything was ok (no error prompt). Would be helpful to have a "preflight" window like EPD has which highlights the following: Errors: Playfield is broken, will not load correctly Warning: Issues that could result in undesired function (like 2 suns) Info: Things that are helpful to know (playfield name =/= sector name)
My antivirus says it would contain a Trojan in the file and blocks the file after the download? Too bad I have used the program a year ago to write my own server card (Akua a bit extended), but because somehow broken by alpha nine (error message when you open sectormap) I wanted to try with their new tool to save the card again if the write white between the versions has changed or if necessary to make new. A very nice tool, I hope I can use it soon.
Not only is it near impossible to download due to a virus check, if you do get to download it, the executable gets picked up as a virus. I have done everything I know to allow it, but that is quite a process. Despite that issue, the tool no longer produces a working sector yaml. Its better to use as a reference for coordinates when writing a custom sector yaml. ————————————- Update 6-4-2019 Jascha has looked into an issue. The tool is still viable for Alpha 10. As usual I have run into the one oddball case scenario that produces an error and is not due to EPG. *Note: Firefox was a solution for downloading without having EPD being instantly removed by virus scan.
Update Hey guys, just a small update to fix one issue. Thanks for the report! I will also take care about the virus alerts soon by changing the confuser. The tool can be downloaded as usual here. Enjoy Patch notes - 1.06.11 Fixed: Icon "No" will be not written in yaml anymore Removed: Old Orbit Line setting
Hay Jascha Unfortunately still 2 different yaml files, the original and the EPG writes and in the game still an empty Sector card with an internal error message when editing a Sector yaml with your tool? I'm confused
Hey, the difference in how the yaml is written does not matter, yaml has different ways it can be written. The empty sector might be another issue, but I don't think due the tool. Make sure the orbit is always the last Playfield in a sector.
>I will also take care about the virus alerts soon It's still being detected as a potential Trojan:Win32/Zpevdo.A ... would love to try it out if I could install it.
Will the .yaml save files be formatted the way the current default .yaml files that come with the game?? They are a lot more readable now, Please, Please, Please can this be done?
Hey, I uploaded (same Version) a new build which should not cause any virus alerts anymore. Thanks again for the reminder!
Hey, where do you download it from? I just checked and https://eah.empyrion-homeworld.net/download looks ok
For now you can use EPG as a reference and take a peak at the Akua-Omicron Scenario for how it’s formatted. Write a simple sector yaml with 10 orbits. Arrange the orbits in EPG very spread apart. You now have coordinates for your solar systems. Save for reference. Each solar system uses its sun as 0,0,0 so you can use EPG to gather coordinates for your planets around a sun. This seems like a lot of work, but EPG still speeds up the process.
I've been doing this, it's a huge job, and very easy to make mistakes. Looking forward to the new version!
