No debating of other people’s personal opinion. Everyone can have one, if some others agree or not. And no, I will not discuss that. /posts removed.
We are after all creatures of habit. I know I was always told to say goodbye to some one leaving. Ok sometimes it was after the door was closed but hey I still said it!
This statement can be disproven so easily. Does anyone still have a screenshot of the Pre-alpha 3 startup, where it would show "Things you can expect from Alpha"? That was one huge checklist that they all completed, expect for the higher price part (it still is 20€)
Jesus, I forgot about this rant. Sorry about that fellas, college life took a lot out of me and after classes ended I went on a nice vacation. Sure, you can certainly bring up my steam review of the game regardless of context. I'm sorry I hurt your virgin eyes with a few swear bombs and a creative way of telling the devs to "Stick it". I'm personally thankful I never grew up with my parents putting a tiara of flowers on my head and can handle some gruff("uncivilized") talk. I'll also throw the 'lot of you a bone and admit that I was marginally incorrect on the roadmap of the game(I could be an arrogant ass and not, but I won't). Let me rephrase my previous statement: None of the actual roadmap objectives that matter were implemented. Doesn't mean I'm wrong on the majority of what my original post was about. Which is the game is getting(and feels) worse compared to before. It wouldn't be such a problem if it wasn't a massive chore for the server host to make things "just as we want it", sadly it is. The game is being bogged down with needless complexity and all real content is being completely ignored. One can only descend onto a POI in a massive death star once before it loses its novelty and becomes stale. Also, sure, we could go about using an older version of the game, but a solid 90% of the various blueprints don't work on 'em. The vast majority of the steam workshop? Useless. I feel like I should also clarify this: Don't get me wrong, I don't need anyone defending my viewpoint. I'm already very much aware of the fact anyone that actually frequents these forums are pretty much dedicated Empyrion players(some would call them fanboys, but I feel that term is over-used). I never expected to convince anyone of anything. Merely expressed my thoughts in a place I thought the devs would read them. Was I super duper nice and eloquent about it? No. I didn't intend to be. I had gripes about the direction the game was going and voiced them. What the devs do with that input is up to them. Finally: Usually my only steam comments are about "spaghetti code". Nothing quite tweaks my nipples like bad software writing. I can deal with the occasional bug/glitch/exploit/etc. But when an entire starfield dies because I decided I wanted to blow up the AI capital vessel, there's a god damn problem - especially when this problem has existed for bloody ages now. HINT: This is what sparked the edit of my original steam review. Spending 4 hours logging in, dismantling a few blocks of the ship, crashing, rinse repeat until the bugged ship couldn't teleport out(and therefore crash the field) because I didn't want the server host to delete 40+ hours of work by resetting the playfield... Left me a bit peeved. But I still stand by the sentiment of "intercourse you Eleon for putting me through that". Edit: After re-reading this post I want to specifically point out that I used the term "work" not "gameplay", not "fun". Work. Because that's truly what it feels like after you get your first mid-game base down on a fresh world. Everything beyond that is just second verse, same as the first.
Your opinion is your opinion and I'm not going to debate that. Your opening statement however, is just blatantly false. I didn't find a screenshot unfortunatly, so I'm just going to try and remember. During the pre-alpha stages, you would get a list of those early access-promises everytime you booted up your game. this was the original and only roadmap. It included: - Procedural Planets - A full solar System - Oxygen in buildings, making it so you breathe inside them - Accessible Poles - A higher price I'm sure there was more. In any case, out of these promises, there is only one that hasn't been kept, guess which one. After that, there were no more promises. Just the occasional Feature-Vote, like walking in moving CV's, but the results of that vote do not count as promise. You're factually wrong, no matter how you look at it.
I have to say I'm in agreement with the OP actually, there's so many people asking for blocks that do this, and blocks that do that, and all these calculations to make the building of ships ever more complicated, but what imho it really needs is something to do late game. It needs pirates, and dynamic events, and the other races doing their own thing, it needs story lines, and please for the love of god, something more than just a space station and a couple enemy cruisers in space - there's almost nothing to do in space. Look at avorion for space content, yes it's very early alpha, but it already feels like their universe is alive and dangerous.
I think many people would agree with your post. There is currently not much of an end game and very little space content (I hope we see some in A11).
Avorion isnt Empyrion. They have there way of doing things. We have ours. Space will be taken care off but we decided first to deal planetside
No, it needs working and fleshed-out game mechanics first. Otherwise there's nothing to build any late-game content on. If your structure subsystems, collision code, NPC/animal AI, and building/progression systems aren't in place, how can you possibly implement meaningful end-game content that won't have to be immediately redesigned when any of those core systems are updated?
Imo, it has working fleshed-out game mechanics, the early to mid game can take quite a few hours to get through, it's got plenty of resources, plenty of tech to build up... Yes I agree the NPC AI definitely needs improvement, but equally, unless you are wanting more of a space engineers type game with heavy emphasis on calculating the best way to design a ship (not something I'm interested in, I just want to build a cool ship and go shoot bad guys), then you can easily consider the early to mid game pretty much there, other than bugs and balance. There's plenty of progression, and ship design, and different types of blocks and building up to really cool ships already in the game. Animal AI isn't too bad right now either. Are these things perfect? No, but equally, imo these things only need minor tweaks and balance now. And now shields are in, adding cool content to space (or even lots more POI's/cities on planets) are all feasible now, AI can be dealt with as these other parts are implemented.
Well, we're still missing a proper sensor system, a research system, a docking system overhaul, a shipyard/blueprint factory system, automation logic for constructors, and almost the entirety of the CPU system (not to mention other things like fundamental changes needed for RCS). Sure, other subsystems are becoming more complete and the introduction of shields should make some things more interesting (though it's unfortunately a rather limited implementation). But all of the things I mentioned are necessary in some form to support end-game content, which is why to me it feels like all of those need to be worked on first. In addition, I wouldn't like to see the endgame experience to be a clone of that of NMS; there's a reason I stopped playing NMS once I put together a complete base, acquired a freighter, and visited a dozen or so star systems (but I continue to play Empyrion).
Well based on that reply I think we completely disagree on what this game should be. It just needs a detector for space, in terms of sensors. Research isn't needed, docking is fine as it is, shipyards aren't needed (the blueprint factory works great). Things like automation for constructors have got nothing to do with warping into a system straight into 20 odd pirate ships trying to attack you. I don't like the idea of the CPU system at all, I've never once in the 1000 hours I've played this game thought the game needs any of the stuff you've just mentioned, but I've always thought more things to do in space, like becoming a trader, or a merc, or joining a war, or like I said just simply running into a bunch of pirates for that "oh ****" moment is needed. All that other stuff just makes it sound like you want a space engineers clone, as you want all these complex subsystems as you put it, that simply isn't needed.
