Hey, that is a game feature. You might want to ask your question in the game section of this forum. EAH only allows you to manipulate the option via GUI instead of going into the yaml file yourself. But what is possible, I can't tell you.
Question, I am playing a mod that requires 1000 structures potentially available. How do I set this in EAH?
Hey, what do you want or need? You want to allow 1000 structures on a playfield or per faction or what do you have in mind or mean with requiring 1000 structures potentially available?
I’m playing Project Eden and noticed a couple lines referring to I have the overall settings at 1000 I think but I’m not sure why this one in particular one is an issue. Where can I look to make adjustments? I have been discussing it in this thread... https://empyriononline.com/threads/...ive-random-scenario.38334/page-19#post-343985 If that helps give an idea what I’m talking about.
Total noob question (note I have set up other dedicated game servers in the past, including ones using SteamCMD. I initially tried to use Game Server Manager to set this game up on a dedicated server that does NOT have steam installed. (I only use SteamCMD to get game files to install/update dedicated servers on this box. The Empyrion install (530870) to its own folder went perfectly. (note I removed GSM since it would not work either before I downloaded/installed this) However, when I run the EmpAdminHelper.exe file, I get the first window (following the documentation page ) where it asks me where to tool is running (on this box, the dedicated server) then the next screen I am SUPPOSED to get is the config screen, where I assume, the dedicated.yaml file is going to be created. But, I do NOT get this config screen. I just get a pop up that says "the dedicated.yaml could not be found please go to the config to set up the tool" Config WHERE ? there is no button, pulldown, menu item, nothing in the GUI for the adminhelper (full) for me to open this config. The worst part is I only see that message/pop up the VERY first time I run the exe. The next time I start the program, it just comes up to the GUI and sits there. No messages, no nothing. Help!
Hey, in the Config tab you can open the tool config. There you can select the dedicated.yaml that is laying in the GameServer folder. If you selected it, then you can open the Server Config in the Config tab, which is opening the dedicated.yaml for you. But you can also just edit it yourself of course. https://eah.empyrion-homeworld.net/documentation/first-steps/config
Ok, I believe it is set up ( I can see all the server config tabs as you show, and I can edit each. However, if I start the server I never get the button to turn green (EAH not connected to server, I waited over 40 minutes) But if I watch task manager when I start it, I do see EmpyrionDedicated.exe and EmpyrionPlayfieldServer.exe start, so I know they are running. As I said before, this is a dedicated server. My client game is NOT on this box (it's supposed to be a DEDICATED Server after all, yes ;-) ) Other question (maybe related, maybe not) The server IP defaults to 127.0.0.1 (the loopback) but do I not change this to the PC's (LAN) I.P. (I have already forwarded 30000-30004 TCP/UDP to this box on my router (it has static IP in the 10.x.x.x range) Making progress, but not quite there yet... EDIT note: If I try to stop the server I get the pop up "No connection cant stop server" message (but it is in task manager...) So it's obvious that EAH is not connecting to server instance, but I don't know why, or how to troubleshoot it EDIT II: Server is in fact running as both myself (LAN) and a friend (internet) can join the server thru the multiplayer browser. I just have no way to control it with EAH.
Hey, make sure that the API Port in the EAH Config is the same as here : ...SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Empyrion - Dedicated Server\Content\Mods\EPM\Config.txt If its was not, change it and restart the server and EAH. Then it should work and the button should be green. Also, since the server runs on the same machine as EAH set the API IP to 127.0.0.1 (same in the config.txt)
First off, Thank you for taking the time to help me! As I had mentioned before, this server does NOT have steam installed. That folder structure is invalid in this case (at least in part). The game files were pulled from SteamCMD to C:\Empyrion and the EAH tool was downloaded manually. (in its own folder on C:\ ) That being said, here is what I do have is C:\Empyrion\Content\Mods\EPM and that config.txt file does not exist in that folder. Under the C:\Empyrion\DedicatedServer folder, there is no Content subfolder at all (and of course no Mods folder)
Hey, yes of course the folder root can differ if you installed it differently. If you have no EPM folder, then you might want to check in EAH in the config, what "Game Directory" you have set. If that one is not pointing to the Empyrion folder, it can't work. On EAH start the EPM folder should be created. If you start EAH, does he give you an error on the bottom left under "Last Warnings"?
I believe I got it! I had manually downloaded EAH and installed it elsewhere on C:\as I had mentioned, and that is what I had been using all along. However, as I found while looking at a youtube video on EAH setup, I saw that EAH was actually part of the game download itself, in the dedicated server folder within the download/install (albeit an older version). So I went to configure THAT EAH instance. And when I started that, lo and behold the button turned green, that file you mentioned was created and the server could still be joined. (it still saw, and used, the dedicated.yaml file that was already there) So I shut everything down, copied the newer EAH version I had elsewhere into that folder and it still is working so far. In the end, I should have been using the "embedded" version all along, since it "lives" in the correct location. Only using the manual download version to UPDATE that version, not try to run it from elsewhere. Yay!
Thanks for the tool it`s very incredible! I've just 2 questions, could anyone help me, please? 1) How set it up to use as slave (another computer different from dedicated), please? I set the tool on the dedicated all right, its all working. I set it up as Master. But the option Master/Slave on the dedicated server is disabled (grayed out). Don't I have to start it from there to allow connections from others tools or not? I've opened the port 123456 on windows's firewall and router both for incoming and out coming and both for TCP and UDP. Is that right? On another computer i set it up as Slave, but the tool don't connect. None of the icons changed to green (icon and background). Have I start the server before on dedicated server or can i start and stop the server on others computers too, please? 2) There are 1 config on the game that i really hate and that becomes very frustrating the game. The message that you can't mine nothing near some base. I think its ridiculous. If someone want to " private " ores or others resources, the right way is making some wall to prevent intruders, or set up guns. But you just can't use your tool to mine is ridiculous and frustrating. How disable this conf, please? Or how decreases the distance to much close to the base, please? Thank you, have a nice day!!!
Hey, glad you like it. Check out this site for a few explanations: https://eah.empyrion-homeworld.net/documentation/first-steps/config/config-master-slave So on the Master: Go into Config/Tool->Master /Slave: Leave Master Config Directory empty! Set Master/Slave Sync to Master Click Sync Password and type in the password Sync IP: Make sure to enter your external IP of the server, not 127..... Sync Port: The port you use. On the Master the Master7slave options are greyed out and thats fine.. Now restart your master tool On the Client, do the same, but the only difference is that you have to set Master/Slave Sync to client. Then restart the client. Sometimes a few restarts are needed. To check if the connection works in general you could leave the password empty on Master and slave (just click the button and then click directly ok). Because sometimes the Password is what messes up the connection. Thats a Game thing. I can't help you much here. Let me know if it works
Sigh. New problem. We made some more changes trying to add a second arid starter planet and got things borked up to where EAH is no longer connecting to the server (even though the server is running and can be connected to by players) After much fighting we have decided to COMPLETELY REMOVE the entire install, redownloaded from steamcmd...TOOK ALL THE DEFAULTS at install. We can still see/connect to the server (in game players) but EAH still will not connect to the server. We have done this three times. Total wipe, total reinstall, and EAH still wont connect. What are we missing here? is there something on the registry or elsewhere in the computer we need to clear?
Hey, sorry to hear that. I uploaded a new version today, that one should fix it (what Taelyn described above manually) See here: https://empyriononline.com/threads/tool-emp-admin-helper-eah-free-v1-47-x.5771/page-61#post-356501
Thanks, I did do an steamCMD update, but it did not seem to add those files, so I d1d the manual copy above and now it's working! I know i'm being a troublemaker trying to "tweak" things. (we got around the desired double arid planet start by simply copying that folder (aridstarter) to one of the TemperantStarters and wala! 2 different arid starters to choose from (one player on each in the MP game to begin game, then hook up to full co-op once space travel level is reached. It's how we want to roll... Awesome work folks. Thank you most sincerely!
