I just started renting a server and the first few days everything was fine. However two days ago my first small vessel disappeared after returning from the Moon. I had logged out right after I landed. Came back later that day and it was gone. Last night I created my second small vessel. I barely flew it, went the nearest resource mined some and then went back home and logged out again. I just came back online and the vessel is gone again. Has anyone else experienced this before and if so is there a way to stop it? Or am I doing something wrong all together, some sort of option that I am not setting correctly. Any help would be appreciated.
Please grab your output.log AHEAD of resuming your save (or ahead of restarting your server!). If you resumed your game (SP) or restarted server (MP), please wait until the issue appeares again. From Players we need the Output.log (Clients): ..:\Steam\SteamApps\common\Empyrion - Galactic Survival\Empyrion_Data From Server admins we need ALL logs that are located in this folder: ..:\Steam\SteamApps\common\Empyrion - Galactic Survival\Logs plus the SERVER output.log ..:\Steam\SteamApps\common\Empyrion - Galactic Survival\EmpyrionDedicated_Data plus the Server game world that is located here ..:\Steam\SteamApps\common\Empyrion - Galactic Survival\Saves\Games Please add a detailed explanation of what has happened and send to [email protected] subject: [your issue in a few words] If your server-files are large, please upload to a file-host service (like dropbox or else) and include only the links in your email! Thx!
Ok this is exactly what is happening to myself and friends. We are renting a dedicated Server. Park the SV. Log out. Log In. Gone. I saved the logs folder and main data. I did see output.log anywhere. We have lost maybe 10 vessels now. I would like to know if they are gone for good. Also, how does the MaxStructures work? Would that delete peoples vessels after they log out on a crowded planet?
MaxStructures only limits the count of entities (bases, vessels) on any given playfield. It does not delete them. Did you raise the Structures limit ahead of the "vanishing incidents" to happen?
Negative. After. Do you think our ships are recoverable? Or do you know what could have happened to them. We are all hesitant on making more ships because of the amount of loss. Also this seemed to of only happened on Akua.
If this is your server, you might have a look at the savegame and find out if the entity-folders are still there. Then, they might be retrievable. Just a question (for the records): Has this been a public server? Vessels set to PRIVATE or FACTION?
Public Server. Faction Vessels. Pretty sure they were all Faction. Under Saves>Games>New Game Then I see Players, Playfield, and Shared Folders and game.dat file.
If you are not the host, you can't access the server world savefile. Which hoster did you rent the server from?
Adding a question - just for the records: when (at which version or date) did the last wipe of the server happen (= everyone start over new)?
This has been happening on our server as well. I'm not the admin. But apparently the single player trick of dropping a new starter kit, shutting down the server and copying the ship files from the one that's disappeared to the new starter kit will respawn the ships on the new starter with all the items and inventory. Our admin did that for the CV that disappeared on them and for one that poofed on me, too. We're just happy to have our stuff back.
I'm not a server admin. But in single player games you can copy ships between different single player games or creative mode games by copying the ship files. There is a post here explaining the process: http://empyriononline.com/threads/guide-how-import-blueprints-in-survival.1115/ This process was just adapted to the location of the ship files on the server filesystem structure instead of single player games. So if there is an admin out there that can verify the multiplayer server file locations, that'd be helpful. But basically, all you're doing is having the player who lost a ship throwing down a new CV, SV, HV, BA starter kit in game for whatever they lost. Shut down the server, figure out which ship files were for the ship you want to replace, copy those to the new starter kit the player dropped before shutdown. Restart server and ship should be where the player dropped the starter kit. If you have several dozen ships created on the server it might be a little difficult to figure out which ship files go with which ship. You could, theoretically, launch a creative game , drop one type of each starter kit and just keep copying ship files to the new starter kit until you find the one you need. I don't really know of a more efficient way of figuring that part out. Again, hopefully there's a proper admin out there who could verify the file locations and help you along with this in a little more detail.
Works for dedicated servers as well... but you need to access the world savegame (on your disk or via ftp if hosted remote) @Roman: do you also have still the "meteors" spawning in space around a planet?
Not sure if they are fresh spawns, but there are meteors there. Your welcome to join our server and take a look. Its named Hollow Point Universe. Edit: It has been a while since I have seen it say a new meteor is coming.
