Why do armor windows NOT protect you from heat and rads
It would make it easier to build CVs with their leaky thrusters, generators and warp coils, who made these anyway ACME Corp ?
    Thanks great game

  2. Heat and radiation from devices is supposed to only travel one full block from each heat/radiation emitting side. So anything that spaces you at least a full block away should work.
However there is a bug where if the vessels aren't perfectly level then that heat/radiation zone doesn't stay within the 1 block distance it's supposed to. It can extend 3+ blocks from where it's supposed to be because of this bug.

So it's hard to say if it's user error or if it's this bug at play unless we can see exactly what you are talking about. Blueprints and game saves work the best. Screenshots sometimes work too if it properly shows what we need to see.

right about 1 block effect but windows allow character to get within 1/3 of block from heat source.
An armored window should stop heat/rad.

  4. Windows do stop heat and radiation, from the environment, just like all the other airtight blocks and devices.

Heat and radiation from devices is only stopped by distance. So you have to provide the safe distance.
The same exact thing would happen if you used something like a steel block and choose the thin wall. You would be too close to the device and would be within the heat/radiation zone.
It doesn't matter what block you use or what material it's made of, heat and radiation from devices is only stopped by distance. Nothing else matters.

It would be nice if it worked differently but it doesn't. This is how it's intended to work currently.

Your only option is to place the window further away or move the heat and radiation producing device further away.

You have made my point , armored window can stop environment heat/rads then they should stop equipment caused heat/rads.
Heat/rad are same either from outside or inside.

  6. As I said already though,
They way it's working is intentional. It's how this mechanic is designed to work.
You asked a question in the FAQ section and I answered it. There is nothing more I can say. I've explained how it currently works already.

If you have a better method then fill out a discussion in the suggestions area and make your case.
