When a player sits on a seat --- goes offline --- then the ship warps --- that player will be left behind. Furthermore, if that player goes online --- teleports to the ship location that warped away --- THAT PLAYER WILL APPEAR SEATED in the seat he logged off in. Freaky...go ahead and try it.
There is a bug report forum Unfortunately, this isn't a bug, it's an unfortunate, intentional and short-sighted "fix" for a PvP exploit
what 'pvp exploit' could this have possibly been related to? %&*$ pvp. Stop balancing the game around it.
So .. just let their player models stay in the seats until/unless killed? Would be hilarious to log back in and find yourself on an enemy ship that you could maybe subvert from the inside.
I apologize for the duplicate post. I typically try to be robust on the subject line description to aid in limiting duplicate posts. This was kind of elusive --- I didn't think being "left floating in space" was the same problem but now that I read the detail it does seem to be the same issue.
Perhaps the best, final solution to this issue is this: If a ship's owner goes Offline, any players on said ship are returned to the nearest Safe Location, as if they respawned, without dropping anything. Might put a short delay on this, in the event the ship owner was simply disconnected, suffered a Windows crash, forced reboot or some other temporary situation that rendered them offline.
SO for multiplayer co-op pve...the "mobile base" concept of a CV is completely null and void. Nice. What if the player was sat inside a docked SV or HV? Would they be left behind, or the whole SV, or neither?
