Hello folks, I thought that I've had understood how navigation works but this was a mistake. I'm in the System Biulun-e with Shaibbeus Moon Sector / Shaibbeus Moon 0,0 AE and the Planet Shaibbeus 0,4 AE. I can click around on the map as I like, but I just can't manage to select Shaibbeus as a target, even though he is shown in orange in the space view and thus actually selectable as a target. Am I doing something wrong and if so, what or is this a bug?
You also have to watch your distances. I've found a few systems where I've wanted to jump from one moon to another, but the distance was too great, and I had to make an intermediate jump to get there.
Thank's for your hints, but I find it a bit seldom, that I can see a distance to the Planet, so I thought, that I could visit him.
You can always see the distance to a planet... It's shown on the map when you select your warp destination. If you're just flying in space, yeah, it can be really hard to judge a distance, and even harder to pinpoint the moons of gas giants. You can place map markers and those are much easier to see while flying around, but they also turn into clutter real fast, as they will try to show anywhere in the galaxy, and really clutter up your view. Ideally, there should be a toggle key for show/hide map markers, and no markers should show over 30 Light years (max warp range).
I completely agree! Yesterday I was on a small planet with a lot of ore deposits. Partly it was quite difficult to keep track of it because of all the pop-up ads ;-)
