I just started playing and enjoying it so far. I do have some noob questions that need to be answered before I invest more time and set up a dedicated server. 1. Can me and my friends own the base as a group? 2. Will they have access to the containers I have created? 3. Is multi-crew working fine? Can I fly a ship then my friends can handle the weapon systems? 4. Can they spawn near me or I have to fetch them when they joined the server? Thank you!
1- Yes 2- Yes set chest and things like ships to the Faction you create or are in 3- Yes but log out is an issue. If you both log out in space and you log back in without him .. then fly away your buddy is left where he logged off, floating in empty space 4- You may have to "fetch them" but planets are small so it is not bad
Yes, it's called a Faction, and you can create and name your faction. You just need to be sure to set your base to Faction from Private. Again, yes, though you can set lock codes for individual containers you might want to keep your most personal possession in, to keep your friends out. Once more, yes, however, you will have to be sure your ship is set to Faction, not Private, and that you have sufficient passenger seats available. You cannot walk around a ship in motion, so access to turrets is only available when seated, and moving is only possible when a ship is still. This one is a little tricky - due to an exploit used by PvP players, changes were made, and offline players are not restored to seated locations. If your ship is in motion when your friends log off, they'll get dumped into space if your ship moves while they're offline. As for getting them onto your ship - you can install a teleporter on a CV ship they can use, if they are members of your faction. They can also fly SV's and dock in hangers if your CV has them, or you can pick them up wherever they might be.
Game handles MP with friends very well. All except one minor thing. You cannot view the same container or constructor at the same time. So if a buddy is checking the inventory you can't access it till they are done. Its a little annoying, but if your base gets large enough you could simply have your own storage and constructors. Or if you wanna get fancy, have your own bases, just close by, and connect them via wifi.
That isn't unusual in a game of this nature. Most other games in the same genre have the same limitation.
This is very true. When I play Conan it only allows one clanmate in a chest at a time. However you can see the dude in front of the chest with the lid open. In here.. they might be 100m outside the base using wifi. So its not so obvious. Its probably not something that can be fixed unfortunately.
