I always have a CV by then. I love the ranged support Did some testing docking my HV miner/harvester to my SV. The super snug fit worked eventually but takes some effort. Wish I could get it to work without so much effort.
I jumped into 1.5 after being away from gmae for about a couple years (back when there was no universe and only a few planets to explore). Anyway, spent a few hours mucking about in the tutorial (which is well done btw but the 1.5 story does a much better job). After that played a regular game with the volume limits and CPU stuff turned on. Raged at the insects a bit for killing me, lost my body; built up the coms tower base and spent a few hours on that only to reload a save from hours before because I’d destroyed the base core didn’t like how I’d munted up the base design lol. Learned how to use the drone for mining, that was a game changer. Loved how the constructors now autocraft the sub components (used to be something the more larger ones did). I’m happy overall, but I wish I had some promethium already to make the drill packs etc for the Multi tool, the survival one is terrible slow for base building.
I've been playing Exp and testing some of my new builds. Haven't built a base yet. Lived out of my SV and used portable constructors and the mobile constructor in my harvester/driller until I built my CV. Not a terrible experience but I ended up with like 8 mobile constructors and another HV that was just cargo and a mc. It's certainly been interesting. I think it slowed me down a little but it wasn't all that noticeable honestly. I'm starting to get the bases are unnecessary mentality. They have solar, decon and furnaces in Vanilla as exclusive but you travel so much it's sort of a waste. They need a jump gate or something so you can warp to them from anywhere on the map. Did combat testing yesterday. Took on a Kiuvera Class Cutter with my SV. Took a bit of damage in the process due to.. pilot error Also managed to test the CV against a small space POI. The name of it escapes me atm Almost fit in the dock at the Waystation The new mission flavor text has been somewhat fulfilling so far. I ran the ilmarinen too and there's some bits that are updated but it was mostly irritating since I just ran it in MP earlier this month. It's good and I appreciate the work that went into it but it's long and I have really no desire to continuously run it.
Finally got the hull of the Eternal Strife fully complete and textured. Now if only I can get motivated to do the insides!
When you spend a couple of day's texturing another build (Tresari Shipyard) and realise just how much more texturing you have to do.... It's at this point I wonder why I keep building large stuff, I got a battle with size class going on here...
They're never meant to be large though that's the point. My idea was it'd be cool to have a shipyard with a half built cv in....sounded like a nice small idea at the time. Even if I take out the half built Eternal Torment and switch it to the Eternal Syphon...it doesn't reduce it by that much lol. If it turns out to be too large for Eleon well....I've had fun building it
I experimented with adding environmental effects to planets: They seem to work, except they will disappear if you fly through the center flame for some reason. No idea why.
I've been inspired by a lot of really great large/premium SV builds on the workshop and I've sort of dabbled with doing something similar prior but so far my efforts have been fairly modest in terms of scale. I decided to start work on something a little larger and more elaborate this time. It's T2, can carry my little miner/harvester (probably something a little bigger too) and has an RP interior actually. I'm just struggling with detailing the body especially the rear end. I'd really like to make a landing pad on the tail for a smaller SV but I don't have the CPU for the blocks required. I'm already using a lot of carbon as is. Space is in place for most medium thrusters to upgrade to large at T3. Also tiny hangar bay is large enough to dock a small HV constructor in.
Spent a few hours playing with Python and the networkx library ... working on a "Oh The Places You've Been" navigation tool.
I am trying an experiment with the back end on a CV but the open ramp really has me torn. Decisions, decisions...
Yesterday I spent much of the day working on ways to communicate info to players in my scenario. These hopefully will help people find this info without having to ask on Discord or Steam, and since most players don't even check those two places this will give them a heads up. Nobody seems to read the PDA. Also trying to direct people to report issues while playing the scenario to me or their server admins instead of making bug reports to the devs. Experimenting with new loading screens in 1.5: Also worked some more on the Project Eden Guide which is an item every player will start with: Hopefully at least 1 person will read these. Also I recently put up a build challenge for space wrecks to be added to the game! Ever wanted to shoot up your favorite ship? https://empyriononline.com/threads/june-poi-building-challenge-space-wreckage.97911/
@Robot Shark I always see people use shutter doors to provide a wider opening for HV entry when they use boarding ramps like that. It's why I haven't really tried using them for vehicle access yet myself. I find it never looks all that great. Better on a flat bed build where you put sloped blocks on the end imo. @ravien_ff I haven't played your scenario yet so maybe you already have these but I've always wondered why there aren't more "infested derelict" ships like ilmarinen randomly generated like the wrecks in the game. Is it just no one has built and submitted them? or is there some sort of limitation that prevents this?
No one has submitted any and I just haven't had time to add more. For my scenario they would actually fit well as there's an infection spreading through the galaxy.
I was bored waiting for 1.5, so I made this classic -style shuttle: hmm, might just start making a bigger version of this..
I have two builds I have been goofing around with and have been debating on releasing. No names, and I'm still tweaking them. Last night I started tearing apart the towers on Sigma Fulcrum and realized just how tall they were (shudder)
@JusZi Bigger? How much CPU to you have left to play with? Can't tell how much thrust you have on the back and underneath. Looking sleek.
