Polaris, a mega corporation. Meaning they live of customers, that being other corporations and customers like a player. They offer fuel, ammo, repairs and even ammo for players in vehicles. They also provides materials to near and far in the galaxy. For me, Polaris as a mega corporation, being negative to you, for being in a vessel on their territory is for me somewhat of a paradox. As for Talon, this make perfectly sense, being of a tribal nature, protecting their own land. For Zirax this also makes sense. But for Polaris, it doesn't. It just doesn't make any sense at all. I would think Polaris would gain from being positive towards potential customers, even if they are in a vehicle. Being neutral or better should not provoke negatively, resulting in loss of reputation because you are in a vehicle. At least not in a vehicle like the pre-made blueprint Jaguar NXT and similar vessels that doesn't have any weapons or tools. Just my two cents of though considering immersion.
Reputations is still a mess The fact we gain reputation from zirax for not being in their territory despite the fact we just uncored one of their POIs a few secs before and we're still killing zirax troops is one example, another is the fact that the way to gain reputations with many factions is still not working at all, like traders or colonists Apart from killing zirax there is basically no way to gain rep with many of the factions unless doing the buggy missions of the GIN
Are you playing 1.5 experimental? Just asking because I came back after a year long break and remembered in the past that neutral factions could lose rep with you for being in a vehicle in their territory. But this time out (in 1.5), I've flown in and landed at a Polaris base on the starter planet multiple times and have received no notifications of rep loss even though I'm only neutral with them. And with Talon I built what will just be my starter base in their territory without thinking about rep loss (at a spot you find early on if you follow the missions) and several days later my rep has not suffered with them for doing so. They also seem fine with me harvesting plants and trees, and mining rocks. If I dig down to mine in their territory then I start seeing rep loss notifications. With Zirax and any faction I could see their rep going back up to at least a non hostile state as time passes. People tend to forget past crimes if it's been long enough. But yeah, it does seem to happen way too fast. I went to the moon, downed a good 20 to 30 Zirax drones and as soon as I flew out of their territory I gained 25 rep (although as low as my Zirax rep is, that doesn't really mean anything). I think it should be at least a minimum of one hour before you can gain rep passively, and the lower your rep the longer the minimum time to passively gain rep becomes.
If you are not in Zirax Territory but marked Hostile the gain of RP all 5 min could be seen as a cooling down of tensions. Just as in RL. Traders as faction are very appreciative if you kill PIRATES (what else?). Colonists are no Faction with which you can gain/loose Reputation. Those are the Plebs, the Fools who get kicked around all day by Govs.... just as in RL. GIN or PDA...if you don't want to get a better standing and prefer the Trigger-Happy Solution, a so-called 'aggressive Negotiations'.... Reading each Factions notes what each one prefers for Gain of Reputation helps to learn how to do it.
Depends...MP or SP? If they start firing in a SP and your standing with them is NEUTRAL... -> Bug-Report If you are in a MP and the firing starts...your OWN Faction standing is OVERWRITTEN by that of your Guild/Clan/Group towards them.
No, nothing like that. And I as I have mostly been playing on my server, quests isn't available either. But if you are driving a vehicle inside their territory, you will loose reputation. Not a lot, just the idea of it. Not that it have ever posed a huge problem but the sense you aren't welcome are definitively there. Only way to gain reputation is to kill a ton of predators inside a Polaris territory.
