This may sound stupid, but I did a complete reset on my server when 1.5 went live & the new escape pod landing is not working. It is still doing the old method of steering it instead of crashing down. I could not find any guide on how to change it besides the patch notes saying you can, but not telling you how to. Any help with this issue would be greatly appreciated.
The patch notes did say how. From the patch notes, It is set in each starter playfields playfield_static.yaml file. Check the default SP scenario for examples (look at the temperate start playfield). The example files may also show it as well. You say you did a complete wipe on your server. Which scenario is your server set to though? As of right now I believe this has only been set in the default SP scenario (and only on a couple playfields so far). I'm not 100% sure if it has been changed in any of the default MP scenario. If you are also using a custom scenario it is up to the scenario creator to change it.
I am just using Default MP scenario. I did see that in the patch notes. I changed the Spawn: EscapePod to Spawn: EscapePodLandAtPos but it didn't work for any of the starter playfields I set it to.
Did you also set the coordinates for where it should land? Did you also wipe the playfield once again AFTER changing it in the file, or start a new save afterwards? We would probably need to see your actual files if you already did that. You may have an error somewhere in the file preventing it from working correctly. Something as simple as an extra space in the wrong spot can mess it all up.
I apologize I am new to messing with the files on this game. At first I did a wipe of the playfield & also new save. I do not know what coordinates I have to set as I was unaware I had to change them. I will paste the files in a moment
Just to clarify, you need to wipe the playfield after you make the changes in the file. Otherwise it will regenerate with the old file again before you made the changes. And yes, you have to set coordinates otherwise it doesn't know where to land. Edit Yeah, you haven't set coordinates yet. Look at the Temperate starter playfield in the default playfield files for an example. They show you the coordinates for the equator at mid-day and the equator at evening in the file.
As long as those coordinates actually exist on that playfield, yes you can use any. Depending on the planet size you have set you may need to modify the coordinates. I would just use the same ones shown in the temperate starter playfield and then adjust from there until you get what you want perfectly. Equator at mid-day (depending on planet size), Code: Spawn: EscapePodLandAtPos Pos: [0, 70, 0] Edit Don't forget to wipe the playfield again after making the changes and then fully shut the server down and restart it.
I did forget to mention that since it is a MP server those coordinates won't always be daytime, due to the fact that the server is already running and people join at different times. I also don't know what will happen if 2 players join at nearly the exact same time. The multiple pods being at the same exact point at the same time may or may not cause issues. I'm not sure anyone has tested that yet.
I hope you get it figured out. If you still have issues you may have to wait for someone with more experience with it to reply. I haven't messed around with it much at all yet.
It worked! thank you so much for the help & I am not sure how that will work out as well lol. I will definitely reply to this if two people spawn in at the same exact time.
I can see forcing the escape pod to a specific location being useful for certain scenarios, but I'm still keen on being able to somewhat control where it's going to hit. I just wish we got surface deformation from the impact.
