A bug that has recently bugged the heck out of me, pun intended, is the cargo box renaming, that doesn't always register the new name. I sometimes just have rename them once. Too often, 3 or 4 times but one box I had to try 32, 32! times before it was registered. This bug was rarely this persistent before, although present since I started back in alpha something, but now it is a complete nightmare.

Not sure if this applies to switches and other things like signals, but those seem behave for me. It is just the cargo boxes and other items in the device list, like constructors, furnaces and so on. Annoying to spend time on that, when I got 20 more containers to rename. It is present in 1.5.2.

    Does anyone else experience this?

Maybe you just need press enter after you rename it? Or LMB click on any area on the GUI. And all will be great. If you have that issue in MP game then press enter and just wait when the new name was apply.

This happens frequently and unexplainably to me when playing on a server. Sometimes renaming a container or device works perfectly, and the next time it doesn't take. It isn't fixed by hitting enter, or clicking elsewhere on the GUI, or accessing the container immediately, or switching to another device in the GUI and back. This bug has collected more old wives' tales than any other I swear. Never been able to nail down an exact repro case, it just doesn't work, then suddenly does.

I have tried pressing enter, tried clicking outside the text box with my mouse, tried pressing esc after. It just isn't consistent for me. Sometimes enter works on the first try, sometimes mouse click. so no idea what is going on. And yes, playing on a server indeed.

Maybe this is not what you re talking about, but I noticed that, if a device is not placed under a label (like, say, "Cargo", or "Equipment" or whatever) a customer name won´t stick. you can rename, press enter, useless. When under any label you created or created by the game, the name will stick.

But then, if you remove the device againr and it fall under the "ungrouped" category, a given name will be eliminated and the device will have its name returned to the default one. It happened to me several times that I had to rename a device constantly or kept trying to name it until I remembered that I had to group it under a given label.

A complete solution would be to allow ungruped devices to be named.

I agree. Not sure why you can't rename a device unless it is grouped, as I would think the ungrouped group, is a group of its own.

You need to hit enter 3 times. It's a annoying bug. It happens on SP, Dedi and Co-op. As a default I now just hit enter three times always it's become a force of habit now.

Just hit this one last night as well when trying to rename a container controller in SP. Hitting enter a whole bunch of times made no difference. Clicking outside the UI box made no difference. Only after I somehow accidentally caused the name field to highlight itself did it finally let me rename it.

I found one way to make it stick that hasn’t failed me yet.

    - rename box A to the new name
    - press enter
    - select another box/container in the list
    - go back to box A, and click on the name like you’re going to change it. But don’t actually change the name.
    - Press enter again
    - Open the container

I think the reason why this works is because if it does revert the name, you have essentially modified the name twice. So it’s fallback is what you want. It’s worked for me every time, but maybe there are times it doesn’t.

Please excuse me as I have come back after a long while. How exactly do you rename a block? I also have cargo boxes in my base named Cargo Box 1, etc. I can't find any way to change the label. In the devices menu there is only the option for groups. Clicking on the name does nothing.

First you should Sort them/Auto Sort them. Than click on the Box within the List which you like to rename.
In the center of the Screen is a Field with a Name Visible, i.e., CargoBox1.
Click on the Field and replace the name. After doing so hit enter.
    Next one please..
In my case ALL Name changes STICK. Without ANY Trouble.
Even after 2 Years of Playing the renamed Boxes still bear their set names..even when Boxes/Crates are no longer valid:rolleyes:.

Oh, I got it. You have to group them first. I see. yes the ungrouped items need to be renamed.

    #MeToo.

To reproduce: On our ship or base, rename all the containers one by one. Sooner or later one won't stick.

    Build: latest
    Mode: SP

    Description:
As the title says, yesterday all the freight boxes on my CV lost the labelling I had given them - container elements, freight boxes, refrigerators to be precise.

Reproducibility ? I don't know - I just transfer a lot back and forth between vehicles like probably everyone. Currently, I had only observed that a container from a crashed ship with which I had just interacted suddenly appeared by name in my vehicle.

But that all the labels suddenly disappear ...
