Okay, I took a break after Alpha 12. I was buried in loot and reduced to ship building to have game. Now I've decided to try 1.5 to see which bugs they've fixed. Strangely enough I still have bugs, old bugs... Empyrion roaches... But I digress, My problem is the Storyline. In the version I managed to save I did not complete the main storyline. But the 1.5 version of the game only shows two completed chapters of the storyline, chapter 1 and 4 with no way to progress forward. Is there a way that I can reset the storyline in 1.5 and restart it?
Did you start a new game? You really should if you didn't. The game will load with an old save but you will be missing SO many things that it may not really be playable as far as the story is concerned. The missions and POI's have been updated many times since you started your save in A12. Your old save won't be compatible to continue the story because you will be missing those updated POI's on all playfields you had already visited. You can try, it will just be bugged (as you have already found). Not to mention the number of bugs fixed between A12 and now, some of which require a new save to get the full fix.
Actually, I have started a new game which is why I launched the old one. I had a great base that I carved out of mountain with catacombs of loot and ores and a couple of customized ships that I could really use since everything is spread out across local space in the release version of the game. I haven't been able to find a similar location for a base on this new planet. And I really didn't want to have to rebuild and restock that CV again just to go find Sigma Zero...lol
I have transcribed a video from Spanj to write down the procedure: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2511624333 But Alpha 12 is remote so it's better to simply start a new game to see the changes IMO, you still have the blueprints of your bases and ships, so you can simply spawn them with console commands to put them in your new game, you may have to adapt these old blueprints by removing blocks which are not allowed anymore. When you get that far I can help you by telling you the exact console commands if you want.
@japp_02 First, I'm a PC player. Second, I just rebuilt my CV from my old blueprints. Restocking ammo and fuel, all the good stuff. I'm gonna need to find a few asteroids to stock up my cargo containers, but it looks good. I forgot how big that thing was. 100's of blocks of concrete and that docking pad was still too small... lol
"Console" here refers to the in-game console (screen dropdown) where we can type commands in, it has nothing to do with playing on PC vs a console like PS4 or XBox.
Did you just boast to us about how big it was? Welcome back! There are a lot of fixes, both bugs and "improvements" (some hotly contested as usual) since A12. I did a full storyline run through and found it had some really pleasant changes, just a smoother more fleshed out experience IMHO. I just started another from a Ice Planet this time. Cheers!
Thank you for the offer. I generally stay away from the console. I guess I associated it with people using "GM" and that feels like a hack. I realize it has a lot of other options, I'm just not sure that's the way the game was intended to be played. However, if it's not considered an exploit I'd look into it.
I guess you could look at it that way. It's certainly not as big as a lot of the stuff in the workshop, it's just that it's been so long since I played that it's taken a while to come up to speed on current events. I still need to fix the docking pad. The ship still hangs off the end of it. But I wanted to finish the storyline first. Actually, I agree that there have been some good changes. The Zirax are still dumber than a box of rocks, but I'm not really a fan of the way the developers spawn them directly in front of you, on top of you, behind you in an empty room with no alien spawners. An there seems to be a lot less Epic tools than I remember. I would have expected at least one from that prison break storyline. Is there any more to the storyline after you free Alex and the other prisoners? There was a message to go see the Zirax ambassador, but there were only civilians on her ship.
If you don't want to use the console, there is also a tool that you can use to transfer your game, search for 'Empyrion savegame transfer tool' here in the forums to download the app. I cannot answer your last question above, I'm not yet finished with the 1.5 storyline, but a lot of the POIs and mechanics have changed, and to see these changes you must have started a game in 1.5, no way you get these changes - and anything else - with your old savegame.
@japp_02, Thanks for the tip about the transfer tool. I wish I had known about that tool before I rebuilt my CV. After Sigma Fulcrum I have enough ores and ingots to manufacture whatever I need for some deep space exploration.
Just teasing ya! I've run around in absolute horrors of a ship hacked together from the Dart or Starter HV that I just slapped blocks on for function, so I can't say ANYTHING to a ship designer. I can mod them pretty well and retain design and color but If I made one from scratch it would be absolute cr@p! Yeah, there are some imbalance areas. Some of the POI's are WAY too easy and some are way out of control nightmares. I plan to discuss this on the 1.5 Storyline thread. It's all over the place. That's fine tuning and they constantly work on it, there are many games that the Devs don't care, Elon obviously does and listens to the players. Epic tools - I think you're just running into standard randomity. Some games I get Epic tools early, some games I get late in the game and never find one or more (to my great annoyance for my Favs). The spawning of loot boxes is internationally random. I've not noticed a lessening of Epics. As @japp_02 points out, you MUST start a fresh game for the 1.5 changes to behave right. The POI's have changed location, been updated in their functions, and the storyline is dramatically different, but I think you knew that ... Story after Alex - From what I see the story ends at Chapter 10. Don't know what they plan for the future. I was disappointed too, but like life, the story would be infinite ... it should be wrapped up better, but I always remind people to remember this a the product of a TINY Indie studio, and what they have accomplished so far is astounding and very replayable! I hope for a better ending but my life won't end if we never get one ... Later!
@Thor'sHammer Thanks for the reply. I am playing 1.5 since I rebuilt my CV and I've used up a fair amount of ammo getting to the Prison Break. I actually did get another epic sniper after taking out that drone base on the moon, which is good, since mine is wearing out. But all that seems to be left are ore deposits and Zirax bases... I wish the trading stations in the other star systems had different stuff to trade. Anyway, if I don't find anything interesting by the end of the week I think I'll check out Reforged Eden.
Trading Stations - Well I've found there are a bunch of Traders now I'd not seen before. Made a bunch of money trading Toxic Waste and the like from a few of them. Also I'd never traded with the Pirates until recently, they have some good early game prices for stuff. Keep looking around, some have things to trade I never knew were available. Reforged Eden - I've been saying that for ages, LOL! Guess I'll take the plunge after my current game.
