Does anyone know of any systems around the starter systems that have platinum in RE 1.5? I can't find any
Each galaxy is randomly generated, having two people have the same seed is almost impossible. And if you need only a small amount of platinum I found it best to buy it from traders.
I didn't know if certain star types had a higher chance to find platinum. I can't remember I think last time I played and found plat it was around the Legacy system but that's so far off (already thought about trading for it just to make an upgraded warp drive) I actually just looked in my Adv Constructor and I don't even see an option to craft platinum ingots...strange
Platinum can be rarely found as small deposits on some exotic planets, usually around O or B, or N class stars. But that is a rare hard to find source. Sometimes Legacy asteroid fields can also have platinum asteroids, found in black hole systems. These are very dangerous.
Today I've almost finished my first proper endgame CV. Still have some texturing left to do, then lights & signal logic, but it's already completed combat trials.
Today I stayed up way too late playing around with the ability to mod tracers and blast effects on the experimental branch. Tested adding a giant explosion for the warp drive. Spoiler alert:
The theme for this run is going to be grey, white, and dark blue: I made it off of purgatory and now scary things are whispering at me: What a great universe! Eh? Eh? I love it.
Today on Empyrion, I returned after years and years of absence, spawned in my CV and finally remembered why it won't work. Can we get around this CPU requirement yet? Will I have to strip it down and start again?
You can use an advanced core which allows infinite CPU, but it will not be saved with the blueprint so you will have to put one back in when spawning the ship again after saving the blueprint with an advanced core. If you know how to make macros, then you can modify all the CPU values in the BlocksConfig.ecf to "CPU cost : 1" (find and replace macro, ex. Notepad++) and put that modified version of BlocksConfig.ecf in Empyrion - Galactic Survival\Content\Mods so it will not be overwritten by updates and should work from there. You can also edit only some of the blocks/ devices that are the most expensive in CPU value and reduce their CPU cost (in BlocksConfig.ecf) instead of changing all values (many are not important). You can also disable CPU from the main game options menu when starting a game.
Looking over the devices you have installed, you can really cut the CPU requirements by removing the RCS units. With the new flight control mechanics you can get by with completely removing them if your thrusters are configured in a flight-realistic manner.
Found lots of interesting things today: but with that specific wreck I had to flee as a result of a corvette spawning almost on top of me: the planet I flew to had a whopping 4.22 gravity! My CV was definitely not equipped for it but I manage to glide onto the flat top of a nearby mountain to the entry point of the playfield: I then got it into my head, "You know what this planet calls for?! A killer HV with some of those new Vulcan turrets I just found!" So I set about making a comfy little exploratory HV but then realized too late that while the acceleration of the HV could overcome the gravitational pull, the top speed could not. So here I am stuck in a ravine: *Game over by gravity. Not the first time I have experienced this phenomena, and probably will not be the last. On the plus side, for the brief time I saw them in action, the Vulcan turrets aren't bad. Still prefer my own headshots though...
Today on Empyrion, I came up against some of the limitations of the building mechanics again and wondered, not for the first time, if there are any better building systems out there. Empyrion is better than Ark and Minecraft etc in lots of ways, but I'd love to be able to place walls at different angles and have curves across more than one block. The .stl export and import is great, too and I can't shake the feeling there is a great 3d printing opportunity to be had somewhere.
Today in Empyrion I decided to detour to a planet that I mistakened on the solar system map to be a metal planet. It was not, but I did not realize that until too late as I flew too close to a Zirax station and it annihilated the rear portion of my SV: Kinda fun though, lacking a p-gen for the thrusters to cause me to decelerate, I kept drifting a top speed towards the planet. My luck or doom? I entered the atmosphere still coasting: Ah, god, I am gonna die! I survived, exited the SV and then looked back as the wreck bobbed at bit in the toxic water: (poor bill) I then swam for the shore while looking forlornly back at the SV wreck: This is not going to be pleasant: I managed to cobble together enough materials for a motorbike! The challenge is the radiation..... I crested a hill and found: which is not anywhere near enough, but it is a start. I made camp a ways to the north: and by golly, with the resources along the way, I think I might make it: We shall see...
