I couldn't find a thread on this so I decided to make one, sometimes when I play single player I use a modding website or CE. I was playing the game with my friends then they had to go, so I loaded another SP game to play and was using CE. I quit playing that game and came back to Empyrion and forgot to turn off CE before logging or I should say logging into the server I created within in the game. My account is now banned and I can no longer play with my friends. I assure you I had no intentions of using the software for malicious purposes and I am asking to have my ban lifted as now I can't play with my friends until 2022. I apologize if this is not the correct way to go requesting a ban lift. I tried PMing SIlvrav, but I didn't get a response so I figured I would try this. IF anyone has any info about who I can contact to see about getting the ban lifted please feel free to PM me. PS. If I can't get my ban lifted I completely understand and a lesson learned about situational awareness. I thank you for your time in reading this post.
I can't speak to the ban, but there's literally zero reasons to ever need a third party cheat program in Empyrion. You already have full access to console commands and even the game configs.
Is it an EAC ban? If so EAC takes a firm stance on bans. IE, they don't typically lift the ban. If it is an EAC ban here is their link explaining things. Ban appeal at bottom. https://easy.ac/en-us/support/game/account/bans/ If it is just a single server ban then yeah, have to contact that server operator/owner. This is the part that has me confused. Were you banned while running a co-op game? Or was it a dedicated server? If it was a co-op game then the only way I think you could be banned is if it was an EAC ban. I don't know though. What is the exact message you get if you try to join a server?
Basically the T's&C's state that it's uncool to reverse engineer or tamper, which kinda sux that you will need to sort this out another way, but that's how T's & C's work, for days like this. Have myself felt the need to use a cheat program, in a game but I aint been caught out since I'd never do any hacking with a multiplayer game, that's just a pain. Reminds me of 1986, and having to type in word 3 on page 14 every time I ran Elite, and getting so tired I eventually opened up GDB and hexed it.
It's not "uncool" it's forbidden and violates the agreement the buyer agrees to when purchasing the game. Choice of words matters.
@Krazykidd2006, it was a COOP game. @ravien_ff I guess I didn't make it clear, I was playing a totally different game with CE and forgot to close it out before attempting to play COOP game with my friends and instantly was banned. This is the message I get when I try to play COOP.
I'm not familiar enough with EAC to know if that is the message EAC gives, but it's possible your friends can just unban you on their end. Either way, I highly recommend completely removing any third party cheat programs and never installing them again to avoid issues like this as many games and software programs will try to detect things like that.
EAC creates and maintains a blacklist that is checked when you sign into a game that is EAC protected. It also updates Steam with a "banned" status so that transfers are disabled from a blocked account. They do not, ever, reverse a ban unless they determine that it was done mistakenly on their end. Specifically- "All EAC bans are permanent - EasyAntiCheat has a zero-tolerance policy for cheating and will not lift EAC bans on request. If a round of EAC bans is determined to have been issued incorrectly, they will be automatically reversed by our servers. Creating a Support ticket will not cause your ban to be removed." So your account is banned until 8/2022 on any game that employs EAC. These bans are applied a random amount of time after the infraction and you cannot request information about the specifics of your ban as that would provide information to someone attempting to circumvent the system. I think @Foofaspoon is right- these checks are not applied on LAN or private games and so if you and your friends disable EAC checking you should be able to resume your game.
