1. For 1.7 we have started to create a new way on how to create biomes and planets in the future. To allow them being tested, we decided to add three testing planets to the 1.7 - so everyone interested can have a look! Note these are just testing sites for the new deco and deco system. There are no creatures or POI yet (at least not in this EXP Phase) and it might or might not happen that exactly these promo planets will be included in the FINAL release. Anyways, we are looking forward to your feedback! How to find the 3 testing planets: 1. Start a new savegame 2. Snow Moon/Temperate Planet: Open the galaxy map (M) and use the ‘Search system’ button. Type in “ContAr1a95” to the TYPE field. Teleport to the sun. The Temperate Planet is the one in the system and the snow moon is the moon of the gas giant. 3. Alien Planet: Type in “SMbh” to the TYPE field in the ‘Search system’ and teleport to the system. The one planet in that system is the one you are searching for. Note: If you have an existing savegame where you NEVER visited both systems, the new deco planets should be there as well. In case you have already been there before this EXP phase, it is easier to start a new savegame, though.
this happened when I warped from starter planet system to ContAr1a95 sun then into orbit of eplison 5822 I, anyone else had this? had to use teleport to get unstuck
Can you make a bug report with the seed and save game? This bug has been around for a few versions now and I don't know if it's been reported yet.
These are great! For custom scenarios you can change the size and color of them. I'm still figuring out exactly what all the config options are.
Some of the deco looks really bad, like these flowers also fps is not good, even on foot down into the 30's. My rig is an 8700k, rtx 2070, 32gb ram, m.2 ssd. The moving grass effects look really bad, I would prefer to not have it in the game the way it looks.
Okay, I have to say wow to the new terrain deco. Really well done. Got a really good balance of making things alien without being too cartoony or weird. Liked that you got some very different things on the alien planet (and nice use of change of colour / textures to create variety). Favourites were the revamped radiated trees, the glowy mushroom and the pulsating tree things. Moving forward, for the more alien things it would be good to get something alieny out of them, not just wood - would add to the immersion. Issues I found: I did get frame drops (particularly on the temperate planet) & dis get worse with water to. Nothing too serious, but 60 to 50ish at worse for me (but lower specs will struggle more, and then pois get added). I do wonder if this was because they were so densely covered though? On the snow planet, the snow cover effect is added when youvget close, and seems inconsistent - sometimes further deco has it, and closer one's don't! Also as a minor thing you are getting npc spawns on the snow world, just some arachnids and feathered things!
Remind yourself that this is WIP. Also your Rig-Stats says nothing about the kind of setting you have chosen within the game. My frame ratings are ->
I appreciate any effort to bring variety to planets, the new deco alone however doesn't cut it for me. More so when most of it is covered in ugly white fog. I remember when Temperate Plateau planets where introduced - I loved them, they looked and felt really different (until you decided to cover most of their surface in ugly white fog with version 1.6). These temperate plateau planets are a good example of a *new* planet type because of their different topography and coloring as opposed to different arbitrarely placed deco elements. The new water looks really good with lots of contrast and detail. The rest of the planets looks boring with flat colors, lacking contrast and lacking view distance (did I mention that ugly fog...). I'm still curious about the new features you add to your game but as long as the planets look so boring I don't see me coming back any time soon. Just my 2 cents.
The new deco does incur a pretty large performance hit, at least on the temperate planet. It will be really bad once POIs are added as well I think. Hopefully it can be optimized as the new deco system is really cool, allowing for the size and colors to be customized in the playfield files!
What the hell is wrong with you? They asked for feedback, people are giving it and your going into defense mode against their feedback. This is why so very few even play the experimentals and give feedback anymore. People are just sick and tired of the damn nonsense from the select few on these forums.
The same goes for your 'well mannered' post here.... To the posting AND my response - I was surprised what he encountered but asked him anyway what he did expect from a not yet finished Deco distribution and Planets. Simple as that.
Happens to me too. Also sometimes when quitting to the main menu on the temperate planet the game closes completely though that may have been because I was messing with the playfield files.
i really love the new test planets, the only critique i have of them is that the snow moon has that generic wind sound on it, its quite annoying would prefer if it just had the music like previous snow planets
No, they may not. However, what is relevant is the difference between the current temperate starter (which for me floats between 70 and 90 FPS) and the new Temperate deco world, which very rarely goes above 60 FPS. That is a significant delta and settings are actually a bit beside the point in that regard - because if there's some specific setting that causes that, Eleon needs to optimize that or otherwise minimize the impact for it to be considered ready for prime time. No, I'm not the guy you responded to. But performance hits and the degree of them are definitely valid feedback, so I thought I'd provide the comparison.
