Hello Galactic Survivalists! At the end of last year, we conducted our first update-specific feedback survey. The results are now available and we would like to share them with you. First of all the basic data. Goal of the survey: Evaluate the features that have been changed, improved or added in version 1.7. Duration: 23.12.2021 until 02.01.2022 Participants: 1326 So many participants in just over a week is of course great. Many thanks to all who took the time! But how did you rate the update 1.7? First of all: You rated the game as a whole with 3.84 (out of a possible 5 points) as of the update 1.7. The overall rating of the update 1.7 features is 3.96 out of a possible 5 points. We also asked you about your Empyrion playtime (in hours) in the survey, so let's split the ratings directly into graphs according to these groups! The game as a whole… ..and the update 1.7 in particular: Finally, another interesting breakdown: In the survey, we asked you which of the main topics in the update you would like to see pursued further. In the following evaluation, which is also divided according to playtime groups, you can see which focal points each playtime group considers to be 'the most important'. You can also see where the groups differ in their wishes and priorities. This may often be one of the reasons for lively discussions. Again, thanks a lot to everyone participating. Hope to have your active help again in the next survey! Have a good start into the new year! Your Empyrion Dev Team
Would be nice if the Jet packs didn't turn off in an elevator... or turned back on when leaving... this is very annoying, and at times damaging. It makes it hard to bridge gaps between elevators with the jetpack, because we have to leave fall, and reengage before we can try to hop the gap.
Interesting, new players seem to gravitate towards visuals and veteran players towards content. Across the board game mechanics and SP content are most requested. What do Eleon define as "Game mechanics" though? (sorry if this was answered on the survey, I missed this one) From this data, does Eleon now have a Priority list they want to work on? If they want to attract new players, more visual improvements and game mechanics may be in order. Any examples of upcoming "game mechanics" we might look forward to?
Are you sure this is all the data? I specifically requested more Ripples and don't see my request reflected on the above data. I can't be the only one that wants more ripples.
Please think of the GPU overload vs. CPU usage ! With my 16 G VRAM it pushes GPU to 99% vs. 20(ish) % CPU. We all like graphics, but that is useless if you're machine can't display them in action driven situations.
I don't really understand why bugfixing and improving existing features wasn't an option when it needs more attention than anything. Bugs are usually what makes me stop playing and are often catastrophic and need you to go in admin mode to fix the mess. There's also a huge pile of small and irritating things, like the inventory screen closing if you move at all, falling through ships if they take off and you're on board, being unable to see progress properly on constructors, being unable to access a container the same time as another player, etc
New/More variety of buildingblocks will that be under the customization tab/category? and is this actualy something we can see in the (near) future? would love an answer to this. have a good day ;-)
Interessant auch, wie stark das Interesse an AI bei einer Spielzeit >5k einbricht. Gewöhnung des "Alters" an Dummheit oder Anpassung der eigenen ....? (Duck und weg) XD
What do the numbers below the graphs mean? (ie: 5-20 , 21-100, ect) Each is the same items but different amounts for each. Can't be number of respondents as there is one for more than 5000 and there were less than 2K responses. Inquiring minds want to know.
I'm presuming the numbers at the bottom of the last graph are the numbers of hours you have played the game.
Here are my personal tastes on 1.7 + 1.8. 1.7: Player crouching should give a stamina buff while in effect, reduce your detection range to enemies, and the player hitbox. It should also improve recoil, accuracy, and increase the hitbox of enemies. 1.8: Game Mechanics: The Player Drone is a unique EMP mechanic that seems very underdeveloped. I would like to see it have some upgradeability. Either adding the ability to create and add modules to it or unlocks in the skill trees. Range increases, flight speed, enhanced optics, targeting assist mode (target lock with drone for sniping, ), autonomous follow (can be set to auto mine surface materials or collect harvestables) when in range), afk defense (no exp, or loot), Auto salvage a targeted wreck(equivalent to surv tool speed but matches the mode of the player if active (retrieve vs salvage). BAS>CV conversion. Manual Option: Must have 80% of voxels removed from exterior(top and sides), must have 95% of voxels removed from interior, can have no BAS blocks that aren't CV equivalent, and must have core permissions & power. Mechanic: Voxels inside ship geometry get deleted, exterior voxels at 0.1m from ship are deleted, and ship type is updated or deleted and replaced with BP applied to CV. Automated Option: Must have core permissions & power to begin. Mechanic: Core gets inventory slot and button. CV starter is placed into slot and button starts conversion. Conversion adds a beacon block to the player inventory tied to that ship. Beacon block must be placed within min/max distance (in voxel on planet or free floating in space) calculated from ship dimensions with no clipped geometry in target volume. Upon placement of beacon, player can start add required fuel and begin, continue or revert partial conversion. While in process, a collision barrier surrounds the BAS and CV geometry to prevent duplication, adding blocks, etc.. A conversion moves a plane across the longest axis that turns the ship geometry to a blue holo wireframe as it progresses and the beacon projects the reverse animation (full green wireframe turning into solid blocks). Unconvertable blocks get a red/yellow wire frame and the components from them are placed in the beacon's inventory when the conversion is complete. CV is spawned next to the beacon just above the voxel surface or in space. Models Rework (Humanoid): NPC Characters and story aliens (e.g. Zirax etc) have clunky animations and have drastic graphic quality differences and styles. These should be reworked to have more natural movement instead of changing directions like sprites. They can each have unique looks (faction species, etc) but, some shouldn't look hyperrealistic and some cartoonish (humans). Humans, specifically, need more variation in body types and faces because as humans ourselves(mostly ) it is jarring to see clones everywhere. The tall horrors look horrible (and not in a good way). This really needs some detail work additional geometry (faces and protruding bones/teeth, and less stretchy bendiness). It would also be nice if NPC emissives were colored based on faction alignment to better identify friend/foe without having to open a menu. Addtl mechanics: Rather than place consoles with a static model. It would be nice to be able to recruit NPCs as crew and assign them tasks. Cooking, Farming, Mining nearby resources, guarding from the ship or crew from predators etc., and having one accompany you on raids as a SV/HV gunner , fire support on foot, and extra carry capacity. Crew should require beds/ kitchens, showers, medical care, etc.
Considering i have not played in some time. But i do have 6.5k hrs in the game. But I may not have much say here. But the reason i stopped playing was because of bugs. Lag. And overly poor game optimization. I focused on PvP in the game. some of the best fun i have ever had. since all this. w/v..... the never ending planets... cpu. it totally killed off PvP. it's almost non existing. Which is sad. the player base at the time when i heavily played, cried for bug fixes. Focusing on game optimizing. But instead got all the junk mentioned above. Even now i see a lot complain about their complaints being ignored. Trash my comments all you want. the current amount of players playing the game now says it all. The game has potential, And always has. But i sadly i don't think it will ever get fixed. (And keep in mind. This is from a PvP prospective) And yes i know. At least now. this is not a PvP oriented game anymore. But i sure wish it was. Heres for hoping ?? ~I Love The Hate~
In fact I would just get rid of the elevator block altogether and make the jetpack a real "thing of the future". Jetpacks have been around for already quite some time now, and on its very first "wide audience appearance" it was a guy who flew over an olympic stadium (some 80's olympics?), circling the whole place once before landing in a circle in the middle. Total flight lasted like 20 or 30 seconds, and far above ground. Now jump to the future with warp drives and multitools and we have this poor fart thing that can barely pop the player out of a hole... So keep ladders (improved? sure) but have the jetpack be something real. I modded it in my custom configs so I can fly around with it for some time, and it is really a different game with this setup. The implications are multiple : ground critters, POI navigation, foot combat, mining, etc. =========================================== I see the wording of some older survey features has been blurred in new "categories" now, so where do "NPC animations" fit in there ? Singleplayer content ? AI ? Game mechanics ? Models rework ? And I welcome the change of mind regarding disclosure of the survey results, since at the beginning we were told they would be kept for internal usage. I hope you guys didn't fight too hard in the office around that...
Yes, this. Eleon should consider this and consider it high praise for what they've created in terms of attracting players. I'm certain there are tons of us who would trade a whole year of content or feature additions for simple bug fixing and polish. A lot of what makes the game great is player content, and I don't see that stopping any time soon. New POIs, scenarios, etc. But the list of bugs and glitches and quality of life issues like pointed out above; those detract from the enjoyment of what's already here. Ask any player who's played for a goodlength of time and they'll be able to rattle off a sizeable list of bugs and things that just don't work well. That's the stuff that needs priority first if you ask me. -Bug fixes -performance optimization -AI polish Those are things that really make a game shine, even if they aren't a neat thing to add to a feature list. I don't think the survey really allowed for those options to be voted on to any degree, so I'm adding it here. (Don't take that as ungratefulness for the update. No, I love it. As I said above, I'd be happy to just keep playing what's already here if it meant nothing more than seeing the kinks and hiccups worked out.
