Good news. Seems Empyrion goes well on steam deck. Of course it also seems that there is room for improvement, especially regarding EAC, at least fro those using. I am playing Empyrion on Linux since '19 and since then I never got back on windows, unless I want to test stuff. Those who are interested, know this : With the latest GPU drivers current Linux kernel 5.16 (that has improvements for gaming) and Proton version (compatibility layer to run windows games on linux with steam), Empyrion is very enjoyable.
While in Linux you can play well thanks to Proton. Easy Anti Cheat stays loading and blocks the game so you have to reinstall or change Proton Verion to start the game without a multiplayer. However, EA Devs said that it is compatible with Linux and if it is not going, it is a problem of the developers of the game.-
For the first part, you can just disable and play with out issues at all. The last is known and we can only wait for them to activate it some time in the future.
Yeah. Have you looked at the server list for active servers? Hardly any active ones without EAC exist. And you're locked out of the official servers, too. And actually activating EAC compatibility for Proton is supposedly a very easy change...so basically, it would be an easy fix.
Anyone know if a recent update broke Steam Deck compatibility? Just tried to install Empyrion this week but it hangs on launch. Shows a view of a planet from space w/ Loading @ top left w/ segments in a circle like an orange; 1-2 segments fill, then it disappears and stays on the planet-from-space screen. Tried uninstall/reinstall but no joy; all other games marked compatible work fine.
Steam was the ones that marked this game as compatible in the first place, not the devs of this game. It was never officially supported in the first place, so if it's broke now it's on Steam to resolve, unfortunately.
You have disabled the EAC by default, yes? I monitor the compatibility status and now on Protondb is stated clearly that the game is playable :
If someone plays this on Steam Deck: how's the performance? I'm playing it on Ubuntu, with a better setup than Steam Deck has, but it runs barely at 30 Fps.
I do not have complains about Ubuntu on a regular pc....In some places though due to much deco and specially many lights can go low as 30 or even lower if the player i.e. uses more than 4x laser drills or watches the deconstructor brake things fast. Most of the time though it is above 60. ProtonDB still shows no report regarding Steam-deck
