I absolutely love the new 1.8 experiment. A few things for the moment: The logs for SOLO and TUTORIAL, tho' setup for ease in reporting issues are to crazy with all the listings showing now. Active missions HAVE NOT shown for me like old days on the right side. I finished PEST CONTROL and did not even know I was doing it at it first. Also, a few things even tho' active have not triggered events. For now I can name most I found this at: PEST CONTROL STORY LINE QUEST ( I ve had to review the computer a few times to see the ' pop ' take affect?? I apparently earned some respect with Talon, and a token. But no visual of it in inventory? Is that a change? HOUSEKEEPING GRIPE: SLEEP: 8 hours is a burden and not beneficial at all. Especially SP and early in when daylight matters. Plus the rest you need sometimes. Sleep choices would be better for time.. and the adding of sleep disturbance. Especially SP. For now, sleeping in a tent SAFE. Sleeping in Base or CV? Safe. Sleep is great for passing time, but not an issue at all for dangers. FOOD: In Akua, granted we do not want to overburden the system.. but you can literally take anything from any farm and never worry. Talon doesn't care. Personally.. thats a bit silly. No issue at all finding every seed to grow everything myself after one or two visits. Annoying! TO EASY VEHICLES: There are literally so many abandoned HV and a few SV you can trip over, you literally are like visiting a used car lot. No ' reward ' feeling.. nor challenge in getting your first vehicle up. ON MEDIUM settings.. I have yet to encounter a single opponent out of looking for nasties. The starting system is amazing.. the planets and moons are amazing.. but there is zero element of hardship right now. :-/ To friendly a world. The Talon do not even gripe I come in and mine before they know me.. LOL. Hard to be tested. BUGS: I ve not encountered any actual issues crashing so far with 1.8 of buggie nature. Knock on wood.
I agree @BushiNeko I did a Skillon start, and there were HV and SV and Crashed Capitol Vessels in line-of-sight of the Escape Pod. First SV, got to orbit, and there was a Damaged Transport ... with a Core, Warp, Pentaxid Tank, fuel and O2 and plenty of RCSs and Engines. Public faction. Sat down, turned the key, and had a midgame SV I mean ... like ok Akua should be easy start. But Skillon or Masperon or Ningues ... start there, should not be so easy. Maybe this whole idea of making all the starters moons in the same orbital playing field isn't quite such a good idea.
*snipped* Absolutely. While I / we realize this is the test phase, I am pretty sure that they are not planning on moving the moons out. And it seems to me that they went to a lot of trouble to pre-position most of this to an extent that removal was not planned on all the ' stuff '. For the moment, if you want impossible start.. but known to be changed, start on the desert whose name I forget. Even at 0.3 rad your going to drop dead a few times for the moment . But they did say they are adding decor blocks like the shower / bed / etc to lower level. Which I do not actually agree with. That seems more nerfing than making the start challenging. Ensuring resources for making radiation meds at least are available would be better IMO than ' dumbing ' down some items and adding meds to the crash you find first. Tho I confess lowering the deco blocks makes sense in other ways. I mean, I can craft a constructor, churn out weapons and cores.. but cannot make a bed to sleep in?
Would be better if a shower at least required power to use. Right now you can just factory spawn a blueprint that is just a shower once you reach the necessary unlock level. You don't even need a core.
To the left, you CAN make showers that don't require power at all to run. You do have to keep refilling them, though.
True. Maybe they could require water. But that might be too much of a change. For now, once you reach the unlock level for furniture you can just ignore radiation pretty much.
Not *quite*. You do have to keep coming back to a base to bathe. Makes staying mobile hard. Especially if you don't have a hovercraft and just a motorbike....
So don't do it, get food by scavaging around, problem solved. So don't use them. No one is forcing your hand here. Break them down with your survival tool or ignore them if you feel like struggling more. Sounds more like a self control issue than a problem with the game. Actually my recent Skallion start had neither HVs or SVs anywhere on the planet, so give that a shot. No convenient Talon farms or anything like that either. Well this part I can agree with. No drones, no PVs, occasionally there's some hostile wild life. I imagine this will get fixed in an update or two.
While you took the time to provide feedback, which is nice.. You realize this is the testing and comment on bugs / issues / suggestions on experimental right? So those are not exactly customer friendly answers from what would be PR / Devs / moderators. But suited to steam boards... Thanks for the time to respond.
