Ran into some complications with my CV and the internal version of the game being a little wobbly. Tried to put the game down until things were addressed, but then got a bit of inspiration and decided to try and work around that problem with a POI for the Serdu: Quite a bit more to do. Current plans are to keep the exterior less hostile(i.e. less turrets) and fill the thing with all sorts o' goodies. Think I will pair it with a Serdu pilgrimage thingy.
Did a bit of this and that on the new RE save, flew to a few planets, collected some resources, built a small CV, used that to fly my SV to even more planets, and all that other good stuff. Mostly worked on new CVs, trying to make a new Size 4+ that looks decent, doesn't waste too much fuel, and can still carry a few SVs. The first attempt looks alright from some angles, but is very blocky from others. The paint helps a bit but not a huge amount. Starting working on a new one in a similar style but less bulky-looking. Still needs work, I think. Also been trying to make my interiors better. I think I'm getting there, but, much like the above CV, I've got a loong ways to go.
Where did you find the planet in the first pic? Is it out and about in the galaxy or was it one of the starter systems?
Twas indeed out and about in the galaxy, somewhere near the starter systems but not in them. I don't remember the name, but I'm 80% sure it was some variation of Temperate. I want to say Strange Temperate, but I think that's a different one. I might be able to go through the systems I've traveled and find it later, no guarantees though!
Decided to finally tackle one of my favorite Star Wars ships: the Naboo N-1 Starfighter. I think the Mandalorian version is better Naboo: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2951402801 Mando: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2951402888
@Fractalite I think I found the planet you asked about. I believe this is a "Brooding Temperate" planet. This is in RE, if that makes any difference. Finished my new larger CV, which comes out to Size 8. Unlike my previous big CVs, this one follows the CPU rules. To test its combat abilities, I fought a few Pirate ships, and found that I could never really run them down, as they could turn much quicker and were able to flee due to my rather low top speed. So I found a target that couldn't flee: a Zirax Resupply Station. Made a few passes and managed to knock it out without destroying too many of their turrets, and set about salvaging what I could. Due to how big and slow the CV is, I ended up doing a lot of the salvaging by hand, which took forever but seemed worth it. Also spent a fair bit of time in Creative trying to make more efficient SVs, namely for atmospheric expeditions. Currently came up with this, which has half the drag and twice the lift of my previous SV of the same relative size, though with the trade-off of a bit less cargo room. It's been much nicer to fly around atmospheric planets since it uses so much less fuel, and behaves a bit more like an airplane than a helicopter. I should have probably used a less dark picture, but oh well.
Been trying to make more aerodynamic SVs with low drag and high lift values. It's been a learning process, but so far I've improved over my previous SV designs. It's somewhat unintuitive, as it doesn't tell me if drag is the same in all directions, or more specifically, the drag value in forward flight, which is definitely the most important one. This one has been the best so far, with approx 8drag/ton (I hate these units of measurement but) and about 850lift/ton. Maybe making the wings thinner would reduce drag. This one has more lift, but also higher drag. Which seems weird because all forward-facing blocks are sloped in one direction or another. I suppose the flat sides may increase the total displayed drag value? Weirdly, this ship has a similar drag value to the one above it, despite having a massive flat face on it. It doesn't make any sense to me but hey, that's the game I guess. The thing that does make sense is that it has almost no lift. I figure this is better suited as an orbital expedition craft. Part of the Creative workshop area I've been using. Finally starting to fill up a bit. Maybe after a few more I'll make some better looking ships
Finally finished and released this House Serdu Makeover for the faction https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2954367734
Been busy last couple weeks working on some airships. some images and a quick preview video of work so far with one of my cities this one is an industry city. made a good match being both are a steampunk theme, to show of work done so far on airships. lot more work to go...
Built a new combat and salvage focused CV, rather shamelessly based on the Constellation from Star Citizen. I think I got the scale totally wrong, but so far it's been maneuverable and powerful enough to take down some small CVs. I used Photon Beam cannons and turrets since they have the cheapest ammo and are decent against both shields and armor. Hoping when I upgrade them to Heavies they'll put out even more damage, but I think overall, while a fun ship to fly, it will have limited use. Ultimately, my goal is to build a ship that is maneuverable, good offensive power, and lots of cargo space. But so far, it's been a "pick two of the three" situation. I can do powerful and lots of cargo, but slow. Or powerful and fast, but low cargo space, or fast and good cargo space, but no offensive ability.
I have released both of these if anything in there is of any help House Serdu Makeover for the faction https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2954367734 House Serdu Space Construction Kit https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2955243269
A bit more exploring done, landed on a Crystalline Moon looking for trees to cut. Weirdly a lot of the tree-like structures do not produce any logs. Some, you can't cut at all, as if they weren't actually there. Still, managed to collect enough to keep the ammunition going for a while. Built yet another new CV, hoping to find the sweet spot between a small fast ship, and a large powerful one. This one sort of fills that need, as it has decent maneuverability and firepower, though I had to make it from regular Steel and Composite to keep the weight down. So if the shields go down in a big battle, it's probably done for. Putting the engines out on spindles makes it far more maneuverable for the same amount of thrust than if I put them in the hull like usual. Also tried to make some better interiors on this one. Still have a ways to go, but other ships have been a good source of inspiration. And lastly, been trying to make an SV that's good for more than just going to the surface and back. Same idea as the CV, using size to place thrusters farther from the center of mass to increase their effective torque on the ship and make it quicker to turn.
@jadefalcon you absolutely should! Just remember to moderate a bit so you don't burn yourself out too quickly I've been bouncing back and forth between Creative and Survival to stave off just that. Then again, there is (I think?) a big patch coming in the near future, maybe it's best to wait for that? Anyway, continued working on the new SV a bit, tried to increase the lift value without adding too much drag. I think I may have slightly overdone the embellishments, as they sometimes catch on objects like the side of a hangar door, but overall pleased with it. So far the only thing I've attacked was an unshielded Pirate Smuggler ship, which fell quickly to my Plasma Cannons and yielded some nice loot, including 20 Ancient Relics which should net me a good couple hundred thousand credits. Also been writing down trade-related stuff: which POIs have which vendors, what those vendors buy and sell, and the associated prices and quantities. Planning to put it into a spreadsheet of some sort and perhaps write a Python script to analyze and suggest potential trade routes and trade-heavy planets/moons. So far I've found a few potential trade routes, but the biggest issue is finding enough of the specific POIs to get a good stock of stuff to sell. Hopefully if I gather enough info, I can predict which system and planets/moons will have what POIs, and find the ones I want quicker and easier. The most recent stop was on a Jungle Moon, which has the Procyon Lab POIs, which buy lots of interesting trade goods for high prices, and in decently high quantities as well, such as paying 31,577 credits each for the Ancient Relics I mentioned earlier, and buying up to 58 of them at a time.
Still working on my heavy miner CV, I'm at the point where I just need to paint/texture, do lights/lcd stuff, is there a recent BP with good premade LCD displays? I'm so bad with that stuff. Also I'm looking for suggestions for better end game planetary lander cv for RE, needs to be 4g capable, have decent amounts of cargo for picking up autominers, an enclosed hangar that can fit a sv that needs a 13x7 hangar door, core 9, and something that has enough open weapon mount points where if I wanted to drop some aux cores in I could slap a bunch of laser+zirax turrets to do a base assault with, and I don't want one that wastes space on RP crew quarters or a farm btw, thanks
