Looks sparky, Malice. So that second cockpit, does that mean you can fly the other direction from that ?
Ive not tested the reverse cockpit for flying actually. I do know that passengers have a nice time in it and if your forward one breaks its a good backup. Will have to check
Nocturne My first SV with some adjustments in looks & guns from its original build. Finally got my head around how to put it on the workshop. All new to me. http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=684974394
Yes you can or a second player can fire backward weapons Works with any direction and not only with SVs. I test this months ago with an CV to fire a line of rockets with the 150mm rocket launcher like a ship of the line .
Nice ships. The only issue i have with that particular cockpit is the inability to cover the front half. The nose "looks" as though its ment to be covered, but blocks dont sit right with its edges... if they could give us some sort of sheet metal or something to put it would be more viable. I just dont like losing the cockpit off the first blast, thats what caused me to retire the A-17a Spectre. Great ship.. just didnt like replacing cockpits lol.
I agree . Got the cockpit shot out last night & died. Funny thing was, it was still flying on the same spot 15 meters high when i spawned back in. This particular cockpit needs some better armor points.
Introducing the A-20 Widow. This vessel concludes my A series Light Assault Fighters. http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=686526682 2 passengers 4 Rocket Launchers 4 Rail Guns 6 Cargo Incredible maneuverability - Very good for base and dog fights Built for Survival - Would be considered a T2 or T3 fighter, endgame ingots are required but only minimal amounts. Turn the lights off it becomes a stealth fighter, nearly invisible. Additional armor plating covers the bottoms and all engines to provide a boost of defence for increased fight time. Enough cargo space and fuel to allow extended flights and increased combat efficiency This is my holy grail, the final part of my A series and after learning ins and outs about building, id say its my best flyer ive made so far. I really appreciate everyones opinions and courtesy for my builds and am glad i could craft them for ya. I think my next step is to start working on bombers. Well see how well they work out but for now, enjoy these fine jets!
Updated my Dropship with a military version. Enjoy. http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=687343318
Did some updating on the NOC aswell. Kinda figured railguns for taking out turrets, pulse lasers for dogfighting, railguns for taking out mobs in general in closer range. Tweaked the thruster power for better reverse stopping power, bit more to strafe, bit more to lift & landings directions. Less consumption rate and extra RCS for maneuverability. Feels better to me. http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=684974394
Looks good man! Lots more guns i see lol. Im only 3 positive ratings from getting stars on my A-18 stryker (yay!) So ive been psyched to see it rise in popularity. With food being able to stack now as well as new cockpits i might have to make a 5th fighter.. well see, the cockpit im on the line about... i like it.. but i dont, XD.
I was heavily involved in Stellaris but I happened to spot a new cockpit in the recent patch notes and... well... how could I not? Another revamp of an old SE design which has turned out way better than the original: The Lightspeed F-66 Corsair! Got to admit I think this is my favourite SV of my own design so far... everything just seemed to come together for it. I am totally in love with the side profile of this thing. Thank you Eleon for the new cockpit with the slanted front! I've been waiting for that to appear for months Steam Workshop link: Click Here!
Next up from Lightspeed, the F-62 Raider! I don't know what it is exactly, a combination of the angles and the paint job, but that front view just looks... angry! Steam Workshop link: Click Here!
What do you call something smaller than a raider that's stupid enough not to carry weapons? Why, a Scallywag of course! It's official designation is the Lightspeed TSP-AS-06 but nicknames are more fun Steam Workshop link: Click Here!
The last (probably) in the Lightspeed SV line: The F-71 Buccaneer Heavy Fighter: Steam Workshop link: Click Here!
0/10 Rocket Launchers placed in bad Mounting Position where they can Friendly Fire the Ship if it fires them as it Mouse Turns &/or Strafes. Rockets are not Hitscan Projectiles peeps.
I'd argue that's Empyrions problem not the designs. Space Engineers used to have the same thing until they fixed it, considering we have safe arming distances right now it's surprising they seem to have broken in the future... Plus I tend not to be strafing or turning when trying to hit things with rockets anyway, bombing runs etc. Sure you have more degrees of movement in space but if we're going with the realism/functionality thing no-one would ever bother to design anything other than Borg cubes... tl;dr - I'm banking on them "fixing" rocket launchers at some point. So I've also made a liar out of myself and here's another one for Tyrax to hate: The Lightspeed F-77 Fusilier Bomber: This is an adaptation of another old SE design to fit in with Lightspeed's aesthetic. Despite its posterior the ship is called the Fusilier not "Fatass" Steam Workshop link: Click Here!
Well its not so much 'safe arming distance', its that a ship in motion that is pivoting in a way that will bang into a freshly ejected missle, WILL bump it and cause it to veer off course or just get destroyed (even if its not a warhead level explosion). They are not guided missles that will dodge your chassis as they are being launched.
No ya don't need to Borg Cube to make a ship that looks good. I'd submit a counterpoint, but can't do it here or it'd become Eleon Property & this one i'm keeping for myself. I do have proof though... hmm... Ahh, i'll stick it on your Profile... my current biggest Pride & Joy.
I meant more that if we can't fix rockets because of "realism" then there's no point in building ships that look good because the best thing for a space vessel is a Borg cube shape I'm of the opinion the weapons we currently have will be getting a major balance pass at some point so I won't worry about it til the game hits release... Nice ship though
Which is fine, but if the initial launch speed isn't high enough to clear one block in front (and to the side obviously) of the launcher when it's turning then the rockets aren't firing fast enough and, during said high-G maneuvers, are just as likely to hit the edge of their own launcher in which case they're shouldn't be safe to use when turning/strafing
