Sometimes it can take Steam a bit to Update stuff. Also I like the way ya were thinking in designing that Ship.
I've mentioned in a couple of my posts that we (my brother and I) make big ships. Well, we also make small ships. Our latest fleet, and our first public release, is now available for your perusal, download, and general criticism The collection (which includes a bonus CV to carry it all) is at http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/...rkshopfiles/?section=collections&appid=383120
Kinda funny how we both used the same name for some of our ships. But I think your Leviathan lives up to the name more than mine does.
Leviathan is a name we've used half a dozen times on (usally aborted) massive ships. For this fleet we mostly used sea creatures, and I have to admit, we don't normally check names, sorry if we annoyed you
Interesting ya say this... the Blue Team on the Red vs Blue Server I play on likes Sea Creature names too.
leviatan this is shop in Poland . http://www.lewiatan.pl/zakupy-w-lewiatanie/promocje.html Mayby name this ship ? = BigDaddy
Credit to twitch.tv/bf_tv for the original design. I've made a lot of special modifications myself. http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=774902969
My first publication, hope you all enjoy! http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=774683219&searchtext=
My apologies, my time's too crunched to be able to do things like grab Creations like that & take them for a Spin before maing a Feedback Report. One thing I can say is it looks cool.
Any feedback is good feedback! Thanks for taking the time either way Tyrax, and thank you for the compliment! Very much appreciated
Do not worry, I am sure that there will be hundreds if not thousands of ships named "leviathan" as the years roll by and this game acquires more players.
Some thoughts for you: I love the coloring and the lighted textures, but having all the blocks immediately in front of the lower view of the cockpit makes things a bit tricky - harder to see POIs and engage in dog fighting. Waaaaaaay too much downward thrust, if you do want that much, replace the thrusters with 2x each of directional thrusters - ups the cost, but halves the fuel usage. Even despite that, experiment with rotating some of those thrusters to face different directions to assist other vectors. At certain angles, if you peer in from the side and maybe a tad above and to the rear of the craft, you can see RCS units - that is a dead giveaway to enemy pilots in pvp as to where to shoot. With respect to thrust along all 6 axis; the rear thrust is decent, upwards and forwards facing thrust vectors are a bit low; would make it hard to dodge stuff. It is a little sluggish in turning - maybe... 6 or 10 more rcs units needed - but that is also a subjective thing, some pilots do not mind the sluggishness. Weapon placement is not bad, but the diversity in this case is confusing? Maybe all railguns, or even good ole fashion miniguns. You have no O2 tanks and you need several more ammo boxes. Last but not least, if you were planning on taking this into combat, covering the side thrusters with armored grating adds more weight, but increases survivability(like some of the others you covered.) Edit: One other thing; if you choose to have the light where it is facing forwards, do not be afraid to knock out a few blocks and then hide it behind some angled glass. Just make sure to use the rotational tool to increase or decrease the opacity depending on what you were going for.
Now THAT's some feedback! But really, thanks Fractalite, these are all some solid points. When I built the ship, I wasn't really considering PvP much so having a fair amount of feedback in that regard is very helpful (especially as I don't yet have any experience with PvP combat in Empyrion). Originally it was meant more for attacking POIs or scouting in PvE. Used the Plasma/Railguns combo so you could attack from further out but still pack a significant punch. As for the way she handles, I kind of made it a point not to have it handle perfectly... honestly wanted something that moved a bit like she looked. That said, I'll most definitely be tweaking it until she's pitch perfect for the next published iteration, and keep the more dumbed-down version for myself. Thanks again for the great constructive criticism, and keep an eye to the sky for the inevitable Nightingale Mk-II!
I once posted a small vessel and asked for some feedback and got none. So I sort of put myself into, well, my own shoes in thinking what I would have wanted someone to do for me. I hope I was helpful. As far as making it "pitch perfect." Do not worry about it. I do not think there is such a thing; trust your instincts.
