Today and yesterday I've been working on my first Asymmetrical CV that hasn't made my eyes itch just looking at it. It's called, "The Barge" and is basically a large, flat landing pad with engines. On the Port side, linked by two short windowed walkways, is a long 5 block wide windowed "strip" with the cockpit at the front, then Fuel, then Generator, then Constructor and Storage and finally a small kitchen (nothing grown) and the main entrance at the back. I'm actually liking the open hangar design as the CV really does resemble some of the bases I've created in the past. I've just added a Warp Core to the right side of the Pad, in it's own little windowed area. Ship is flyable and jump-capable in it's current state. I've docked my HV and two SV's to it - and might take it to Oscutune. As I play on my own, even if I am using my own LAN Server, I'm at that stage where I'm considering a fresh start. Funny how I seem to be resource poor my entire game and now I have loads - with doubtless loads more sat in AMiD's - I'm wondering what to do with it all. I'm actually seriously debating trying one of the many MP Servers out there...hopefully some are UK-based! Be intersting to see if I can play nice with others... lol. Scoob.
There's a thread for that? Once I get closer to finishing it I will...currently having some odd issues having taken it to Oscutune...the Drone Base doesn't want to attack me. Wondering if the new BA Homing Rocket Turret isn't a trigger for attacks, my little base (basically just said Rocket Turret plus supporting hardware) has been left alone since I created it, two game night ago. Scoob.
@TwinLance - that is a pretty awe inspiring underground base! Daang I want one. For topic, I realized for the first time there is now a search filter on constructor menus. Finally, I can find the ammo I need easily! How long has that been there?
The thread sir: http://empyriononline.com/threads/share-your-a-symmetrical-vessel-designs.7587/ Do enjoy, there are some cool designs spread throughout it's pages.
Heh, thanks. Though I was being sarcastic as we'd discussed my attempt at creating a non-symmetrical design before, and how it pained me lol. Scoob.
Did a bit more work on the colony ship after designing a small shuttlepod to go with it. You can see a few of them in the podbay, which is where the two tubes at the front of the ship lead to. Starting to work my way back, I've added captains and 2IC quarters that lead up to the bridge (large glass bit) and started planning out where the other things will be going. There's a lot of space in this thing when you don't need an overly-complicated conveyor system... As I recall when the original was near completion she had two proper bays for shuttles (fair bit bigger than the shuttlepods) along with two slightly smaller drone bays that held mining drones (not possible yet) and a bunch of escape pod tubes. Be interesting to see how much of that I can recreate.
Well... seeing as we've both been feeling like we haven't really done anything (visible) for aaaaages.... We built a CV from scratch; a 16.9kt, 100m, small(?) carrier. We named him Murphy, but not for long. Some features include: Hangar for SV's and HV's (4-6 depending on your parking skills), Full survival kit including 4 3x3 grow plots!, Warp capable and lightly armed this puppy is pretty capable. coming soon to a workshop near you!! (when we've painted and textured it!) Mephistopheles: Hangar teaser Full Frontal!
Actually the barrels in the wing are rocket-launchers. But yes, this one's very well-armed, compared to everything else I've built.
So after edditing a workshop found " BARREL CV" I ended up with this gem: A very compact and economical CV capable of FTL/WARP. It is designed to make 'short' exploring and mining trips. Thanks to its small size atmospheric flight isn't a problem, it's even quiet nimble! Inside there are a few containers, a MEDstation, O2station and a fridge. 5 sentry guns provide cover against small alien lifeforms while you are examining the landing zone Very small SV's can be docked at the sides. It's not designed as a mobile base so you have to plan your trips: stack up food and take some spare parts (no constructor) . The warpcoil has only 50hp..so i take a spare I just love the scifi-thrill this thing gives me
Here you go, a CV smaller than 14x14 CV Cube ---Edit--- ??? Blueprint says the ship is 9 x 6 x 13. When you open the stats screen, it says it's 18 x 32 x 12 Whiskey Tango Foxtrot?
If the blueprint size is to be believed, my HPOD Mini might also work It's 11 x 7 x 16, but the entry ramp on the back adds 2 to the length of the ship. Remove the entry ramp, and I think it will fit.
It's 18x26x12m in WxDxH and the other data is 9x6x13 in WxHxD, which is actually consistent, the second data being given in blocks rather than meters, each block having two meters edge length. So if you want a 14x14 CV in meters, then what you're looking for is a 7x7 one in blocks as given in the workshop. That would basically be little more than an encased warp drive with a bit stuff stacked on top.
I once built a micro CV, too: It had to fit through a 14x14 hangar door, and it did! Has warp drive, crafting and storage area, all necessities, HV platform and even a 3x3 garden with food prcessor. Never finished it though... I did complete the underground base where it was parked, but I swore I would never touch a drill again. I need to dig up that save game. Edit: dug it up, it still exists. its 13x8x11 but the 13 is really an 11 with two flares on the end. I counted the blocks... (13 would never fit through the hangar door)
