I built a few awesome creative exercises/HV's: Introducing, Dust Cloud Assault. A cool idea - a dust cloud of spatially random blocks. Some with pilots seats, others with guns, others with engines, and so on. This is a full-fledged HV. Could use some more expansion if you really wanted to use it for PVP, but if not, I hope it helps to stimulate creativity! Camouflages well and will confuse your opponents! Brilliant! I was trying to think of a way to make some sort of chaff to use in POI assaults. You did it.
Number Two: Introducing, Spiral Island Assault. A huge multi-tiered Hovercraft that I originally designed to be some kind of neat spacial assault platform with guns on the different tiers, but then as I got going, it became more of a creative exercise; BUT it could be a very powerful HV. The thing is, now that I have built it, I am really not sure how to arm it. Also, for some odd reason the blueprint system will not create an image with a after image of the blueprint screen - so the workshop image you see while browsing still has that window. As soon as I figure out how to create an image for it, I will. So! Fellow workshoppers, I leave that to you; feel free to take this design, modify it, arm it, drive it around, shoot people with guns you equip it with... but do please link your work - I am eager to see the results. Thank you very much! Kudos are appreciated! I really enjoyed building these, so I think I am going to create some more.... probably tomorrow or the day after. That dust cloud turned out surprisingly well...
That moment when you build an entire Strikefighter Squadron, and a landing strip. Yes, the numbers are correct.
I realized I am going to be creating more imaginative designs so I created a collection: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=805771963
She's finally done. I want to get at least Chapter 2 written on the story before I post her though. Crew Quarters on the lower deck: And Captain's quarters on the upper: All the utility stuff is middle deck, but other than nicely-labeled ammo boxes, it's not terribly impressive to look at. On the other paw, I suspect someone could actually turn this into a semi-viable PvP ship by replacing the hard-steel for combat and gutting the upper/lower decks to increase hull thickness. ...not that I have any intention of saying so on the workshop! Rather not invite that kind of drama into my life.
So, after doing another round of combat testing at Ye Olde Aberdeene Provinge Grounde, we have determined that the most recent patch has completely neutered CV combat. And SV's are in desperate need of some form of torpedo weapon. Hopefully, this will be addressed in Alpha 5. --Brian
My Mad Empyrion Science Internal External Jet Thruster SV now has all 4 Jet Thruster XXLs for its Up & Down Thrust. (As in 4 pointing Up, 4 pointing Down.) That only took forever to get done, no biggie. Now I just need to figure out how i'm gonna go about my Jet Thruster XXL Placements for the Front, Back, & both Sides. Then a few backup normal Thrusters of whatever best-fitting-in-that-spot type sprinkled here & there to avoid being a One Trick Pony, & on & on & on. It'd figure if I can't even get this dudette done before it goes Obsolete.. Damn, I hope the Devs aren't forgetting to eat & sleep again.
Built me another creative project: Introducing, Asteroid Assault. With the success and curiosity of Dust Cloud Assault HV, I had the idea of expanding things and making a CV version. This is intended as a creative exercise but is a full fledged CV - just lacks a warp drive(for now.) I think I am going to be adding more "asteroids" over time as well as changing their shapes to make them less block/ovoids and more like real looking asteroids/meteors. To be competitive in PVP would need more "asteroids" and armor - but it could be done. Casts really cool shadows. As with all my creative exercises feel free to take them modify them any way you wish, I only ask that you enjoy being creative! Nifty! Have you tried using angled blocks, instead of the rounded ones? Just thinking of that "Asteroid CV" from a few weeks back, and I think a dozen tiny ones in a swarm like this would be perfect.
Yeah! His/her asteroid is very nice. The other person who would be really good with this would be @Siege Inc. - his.... er, castle, or at least the base of it, has the right kind of shaping and texturing needed for this. Any chance I could entice you to something fun Siege? Wanna make some asteroids? On my own I am absolutely going to be going back over this to try and make them more... "lumpy," I think is the best description - I just wanted to start placing the base blocks to get it going. The other thing I enjoyed adding(and am also going to be adding to the dust cloud assault) are the newer blocks that are half-spheres. Two of those back-to-back make for small "particles" in the swarm and really add to the feel.
Sure I'll give it a look. It's a really neat concept. Seriously brilliant idea. Trying to finish up this CV I've been working on first though. Edit: It's finally done. http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=806311522
Wow, that is a very sexy ship. I love the yellow accent lines - the actual star wars universe rarely looked this good.
I'm really pleased with how it turned out. Deciding to turn the interior into a giant hangar bay worked out really well. The engine pods were a pain in the arse though. I've got at least three more ship ideas based on that hull(really getting some mileage out of it).
Introducing, Arcus. Something of a mix between my other hovercrafts Progenitor and Fantasy. Designed with the revenge scenario in mind - specifically that scenario where you are on Masperon and equipped with that shiny new SV and CV. You then arrogantly think, "P1 Super Fortress?! Pfff! I can take you!" And then it turns out you cannot. This ship is a monster - with lots of everything; storage, power, fuel, etc. For its weight, a mighty 87+ tons, it also handles very well. It will swerve through a forest and even glides medium distances. If you want more speed, just replace some of the blocks on its base with more thrusters. Not designed for PVP... but, it is all hardened steel, and with a touch more armor at certain points it would have three layers - and that is not too shabby. Maybe ideal for the Blue team on the Red vs Blue server - or that kind of thing. Also, last night, took one of my Typhoons up against a modge-podge of CV weapons. It performed quiet well, including taking a hit from an Artillery Turret, and continuing to fly and fight! I think I'll keep 'em.
Back to small! Introducing, Dream. A cheap, level 5, starter HV. Is super fast and highly maneuverable - will glide off of mountain tops. Not very heavily armed, but there are 3 more gun positions available, plus two more ready for expansion, when you have the resources. Should still excel at mining and anti-drone duties. Not for PVP Steam Link: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=806427760 Enjoy!
As per friendly request by Kieve, I will limit my postings to just 2 or so images. I do not want to blow up these forums. Sorry if I was frustrating anyone.
